How to set the irrigation timer for an autonomous sewage system correctly. Water timer

There is a powerful built-in utility for working with disks and partitions in Windows Diskpart , however, being a console and not having a graphical shell, it can in no way be distinguished by its convenience. If it suits anyone, it is for experienced users and system administrators, while ordinary users, for working with disks, are better off using more visual and understandable tools. For example, a program designed for complex work with hard disk partitions.

EaseUS Partition Master functionality

Featuring an intuitive graphical interface, this program has a wide arsenal of disk management tools. With its help you can create, merge, delete and format partitions, change their size, letter and label, used cluster size, convert basic disks to dynamic, make partitions invisible or active. supports transferring and cloning partitions, checking them for logical errors in the file system, viewing their properties and contents.

There are also a number of specific functions in the program, such as: aligning partitions to improve disk performance, recovering damaged records MBR , transfer operating system with all installed and configured programs for a new one SSD or HDD -disk, optimization and cleaning of partitions, including without the possibility of data recovery, reconstruction of lost partitions, search for bad sectors on physical disks, preview of changes before the final application of actions.

knows how to work not only with hard drives of the interface IDE, SATA and SCSI, but also with removable media, connected via USB and Firewire ... Among the file systems supported FAT16 , FAT32 , NTFS and EXT, disc support declared GPT and arrays RAID... Among other functions of the application, one can mention setting a startup password, as well as creating bootable media based on WinPE that allows you to work with partitions and gain access to the file system, even if Windows has stopped loading.

Installation and interface

Installation procedure practically does not differ from the installation of similar programs, as regards the graphical interface, it also has a lot in common with other software tools for working with partitions, except that in Partition Master there is no Russian language.

In the left part of the working window there is an operations menu, the contents of which can change depending on the type of the selected partition, in the lower part there is a panel with a graphical representation of the physical disk (s), at the top you can see a menu of additional operations. You can also perform certain actions with disks and partitions from the context menu called by right-clicking on the selected object.

Most of the operations performed with disks and partitions are performed using the appropriate step-by-step wizard, which prompts and warns the user about the possible consequences.

For example, if you try to make a non-system partition active, the program will warn you about the inadmissibility of such an action. Step by step wizard used when creating, splitting and merging partitions, finding a lost partition in an area with unallocated space, when cloning and formatting.

Other, not as risky operations as, for example, converting the primary partition into the logical participation of the wizard do not require, however, in any case, all actions are not immediately applied by the program, but require user confirmation.

Additional functions

Cleaning and optimization functions in are represented by three separate modules.

Junk File Cleanup responsible for finding and removing temporary files of the system, browsers and some third-party and system applications.

Large file cleanup allows you to analyze the contents of partitions, finding files on them that can be deleted in order to obtain additional disk space.

Disk Optimization is an alternative defragmenter. It performs the same tasks as the standard disk defragmentation utility in Windows.

Create a bootable rescue disk in almost does not differ from a similar procedure in other similar programs, except that the component WinPE downloaded directly from the site Microsoft.

The finished file can be written to a USB flash drive, CD-disk or saved as ISO -image. If you boot from such a media, you can perform the same operations on disks and partitions as from under a running Windows.

Features of program editions

You can download this convenient section manager from the developer's official website:

The program is distributed in four editions: Free, Pro, Server and Unlimited... Editorial staff Free free for home use, but it has a number of restrictions. In particular, the functions of resizing a dynamic volume, converting a system disk MBR v GPT , porting the OS to SSD and HDD ,

When you use one operating system for a long time without reinstalling, you may want or even need to increase or decrease the size of a partition, split the hard disk into partitions, or vice versa, take and merge partitions into one.

One of the reasons why partition operations may be necessary is the lack of space on the current partition. I myself once had such a situation when there was suddenly a catastrophic lack of space on the partition where Windows was installed. I remember how I installed Windows and didn’t quite think about how much space should be allocated for the Windows partition and for my various documents, videos, photos, and so on. As a result, I allocated some space and a month later realized that it was almost over and there was, in principle, nothing to free it :) Then I first thought about special programs that can help distribute free space between partitions and, for example, break hard disk to partitions directly from the Windows operating system.

Another reason why you might need a program for working with partitions is that you want to install 2 operating systems in parallel with the ability to load both of your choice. In this case, it is recommended to install the second system on a different logical disk (partition), because it is more reliable this way. And then, if you had one section, you will need to make a second one, and unfortunately, you will not be able to do this using standard Windows tools ... In this case, programs specially designed for these purposes will come to the rescue.

There are quite a few programs that allow you to work with Windows partitions. Basically, most of the functionality of such programs, one way or another, is paid. Even if there is a free version, 99.9% of it will have limited functionality. In general, do you want more? Pay and be happy :))

For all the time I have used several programs to work with partitions, and the last one I stopped at was Easeus Partition Master. This program has several modifications and one of them is free - with the Free postscript. Once having tried it, I realized that, in principle, it has all the most basic, and if something is not there, then this functionality can be found in similar programs.

Today I will talk about how to perform basic operations on Windows partitions using this program.

I also note that such programs have, as a rule, standard versions that work with partitions from under Windows and boot versions that work in a special environment even before the OS is loaded (like LiveCD disks).

EaseUS Partition Master in the free version can work only from Windows, and the function for creating a bootable disk is available only in its paid versions. It is safer, of course, to work with partitions using the bootable version of the programs. But using this program many times, I have not encountered any problems.

A free download version has a similar program - MiniTool Partition Wizard. And in the next article I will just tell you how to work with partitions using it. After all, someone may come in handy:

Now let's get down to working with the EaseUS Partition Master program.

Attention!
Any operations with partitions are always associated with a certain risk of losing data or bringing the system to an inoperative state. These risks are always and everywhere, and you just shouldn't forget about them. If you are going to perform operations on partitions hard disk, it is highly recommended to back up your data or all partitions at once, for example, using Acronis True Image. Using this program, I have never encountered any problems, but there are all sorts of situations. Therefore, keep this in mind!

Download and Install EaseUS Partition Master

You can download the program freely from the official website of the developer at the link:

Easeus.com

The page that opens will display a table that compares all versions of the program. As you can see, the free one has a minimum number of functions, but the most important thing for us is that it can change the size of partitions (Resize partitions) at medium speed (since “Normal speed” is indicated) and merge partitions together (Merge partitions). Of course, free version the program has more features! The version of the program with the maximum set of functions, as you can see, currently costs 127 with small bucks. Well, this version is needed more by system administrators than by ordinary users, since it differs from the $ 32 version only in the ability to work on Windows server operating systems.

So, to download the program, click on the "Free Download" button at the bottom of the Partition Master Free column:

Run the downloaded program installer:

Unfortunately, the program does not support the Russian language, which, of course, will be a significant disadvantage for many. But in this article I’m explaining everything :) Leave English and click “OK”:

Again, we are offered to evaluate the merits of one of the paid versions of EaseUS Partition Master compared to the free version you are installing. There is even a buy button (Try Pro Edition). We continue by clicking on "Next":

We accept the terms of the license agreement with the "Accept" button:

In the next window, the default installation path is listed at the top. By clicking on the "Browse" button, you can change the installation folder, if you wish. Below there are 3 checked boxes. The first two create icons for launching the program on the desktop and taskbar, and the last one invites us to participate in a quality improvement program. The last checkbox can be unchecked. We continue the configuration before installing by clicking "Next":

In the next window, we are asked to install the EaseUS Todo Backup Free data recovery software from the same developer. Since we are not interested in the recovery program now (I already talked about one of such programs in the article "Recovering data from a computer using R. Saver!"), Uncheck the box at the top of the window and click "Next" so as not to install unnecessary software on your computer :

In the next window, if you just click "Next", then install another proposed superfluous SHAREit program designed to transfer videos, photos and other information from mobile devices... In order not to install the program, select "Custom installation" and uncheck the box:

In the next window, we are again offered to install the program, and this time to optimize the operating system, i.e. cleaning it from excess debris to speed up work. The program is called "AVG PC TuneUP" and I already talked about it in a separate article:

To prevent the program from being installed on your computer, check the "I do not accept" item. We continue by clicking on the "Next" button:

Be careful when installing free software, otherwise you can install a whole bunch of additional programs you don't need :)

So that is all! A checked box means that the program will start immediately after the installation is complete. Click "Finish":

This completes the installation.

Working with Windows partitions with EaseUS Partition Master!

We launch the program (if it does not start itself after installation), and in the window that opens, click "Launch Application", i.e. once again confirm the launch of the program:

The main window of the program will appear in front of you, where all the main sections on the computer will be displayed in the middle:

It should be borne in mind that the program does not work with hidden partitions!

When working with the program, sometimes the following messages may appear:

In this case, check the "Do not show this again" checkbox in one of these messages and the messages will stop appearing.

The operations available above the sections are shown in the small "Operations" window to the left of the program. You can also get a list of operations by right-clicking on the section:

The most basic operations on sections are located in the form of buttons on the top toolbar:

And another way to access operations on partitions is to open the "Partitions" menu at the very top:

Now let's take a look at some of the partition operations that might come in handy.

Resizing a partition

With the help of the program, you can quickly change the size of the partition, i.e. increase it at the expense of the free space of the neighboring partition (if any) or reduce it, after which there will be free space for creating a new partition in the future.

The operation of changing a partition downward is comparable to the operation of dividing one partition into 2. Ie. we get as if two in one!

To change the size of the partition, select it and in the "Operations" window click on the "Resize / Move Partition" button:

In the next window, you need to configure the new size of the partition:

The size is easily adjusted using the sliders to the left and right of the ends of the section. By moving the slider, you can increase or decrease the size. In my case, only 1 partition with a volume of 30 GB was created, which occupies the entire disk and, therefore, I cannot change the size upwards. Perhaps you are wondering: "Why do you have a hard drive with a capacity of only 30 GB ?!" The fact is that I am showing you how the program works in a virtual machine in order not to interfere with the partitions of the real operating system.

You can read about what a virtual machine is in the article:

If you reduce the size of the partition, another partition will be created to occupy the freed space. The exact size can be adjusted manually in the "Partition Size" line in the center of the window.

Ullocated Space Before and Afrer is the amount of the resulting free space before and after the partition.

Even below, the structure of your local disk will be displayed after you reduce / increase its size.

If you want to optimize a partition for an SSD disk (an analogue of an HDD that works many times faster), then check the "Optimize for SSD" checkbox at the very bottom.

After the size is adjusted, click "OK" at the bottom.

Now in the main window of the program you will see 2 partitions - the one for which you changed the size and the partition with the name "Unallocated", which was formed from free space and is an unallocated area that cannot be used:

But even though the new structure is already displayed in the program window, in fact, you still have the old partition with the same size. And all because the operations need to be applied and only then they will be performed. And what you see in the window is only a preliminary structure, which will be real when you apply the planned operation of changing the partition.

All preliminary operations are lined up on the left in the lower window "Pending Operations".

And in order to apply the operation, you need to click the "Apply" button on the toolbar:

You will also have the "Undo" button available - to cancel the planned operation with partitions, and "Refresh" - to update the partition structure in the EaseUS Partition Master window.

By clicking on the button to apply operations, it will appear small window, where you need to confirm your intention with the "Yes" button. Pay attention to the checkbox in this window. If you check the box, then the computer will be turned off after the planned operations on the partitions are completed!

If you change the size of a partition that is already in use (for example, the size of the system drive "C"), then in the next window there will be a warning that a computer restart is required to complete the operations. Therefore, you need to save all the work on the computer, if you did something, and only then click "Yes":

The computer will reboot and the operations of the EaseUS Partition Master program will start in a black window:

You don't need to click anything here, just wait for it to complete!

After waiting for Windows to load, we go into the program again and see that the window of previously prepared operations is empty, which means an operation (or several) performed on the partitions:

You can immediately open Windows Explorer and check what size your partition you were working with now has. You need to right-click on it and select "Properties":

For example, my partition now has a volume of 24.5 GB instead of 30 GB, that is, I reduced it by about 5 GB.

Creating a partition in an unallocated free area

If you reduced the size of the partition, then you have a so-called unallocated area, which is displayed in EaseUS Partition Master as a separate partition without a letter:

An additional section can be created in this area. To do this, select the area and click on the "Create partition" button:

The partition creation window will appear:

In the "Partition label" field, specify the name of the partition, which will be visible in the operating system.

In the "Create as" field you need to select the section type "Primary" or "Logical". The system can boot from the Primary partition and there can be only 4 such partitions in the system. If you do not have 4 sections, then it is better to choose the Primary type.

The "Drive Letter" field indicates the letter of the partition to be created. Select any of the available ones in the list.

Leave NTFS for File System as this is the most modern file system.

It is better to leave the "Cluster Size" at the default value - "Default".

If you are creating a partition on an "SSD" disk, then enable the "Optimize for SSD" option. I talked about the differences between HDD and SSD, as well as in general about all the components of a computer in the article:

Below, under the heading "Decide size and position", you can change the size of the created section, since by default it will be created on the entire unallocated space.

When everything is set up, click "OK".

Now the operation needs to be applied by clicking the "Apply" button on the toolbar:

We confirm the operation with the "Yes" button:

The process of creating a section will begin, which will be visible in a separate window:

After the completion of the process, you will receive a notification in a separate window, where you will need to click "OK" to continue:

This operation, as already understood, is performed without rebooting, since the system partition is not affected.

After completing the operation, you can open the Windows Explorer (section "Computer") and see two sections, one of which will have the name that you specified:

Merging Sections

Another useful section operation is the merging of sections. Those. you can take and merge 2 previously created sections into one. Let's see how to do it ...
Select the partition that we want to merge with some other and click on the "Merge partition" button:

In the window that opens, you need to check the box that you want to combine with the selected one:

Below in the field "Merge selected partition to" select the drive letter that will belong to the merged partition.

There are no more settings and you can press the "OK" button.

In the next window, we confirm the operation and then another window will be displayed with a warning that a reboot is required. We agree by clicking "Yes":

After rebooting, you can open the explorer and make sure that instead of 2 partitions you now have one!

These are the basic operations that any ordinary user may need, the EaseUS Partition Master program allows to perform with partitions. All other simple operations on partitions can be performed using standard Windows tools. There is also a Disk Management utility (available through Computer Management), but it does not allow you to resize, move, merge, or perform any other operations other than creating new partitions from the unallocated area and deleting existing partitions.

And EaseUS Partition Master has the ability to perform everything that was listed above without any difficulties.

That's all for today. See you in the next articles!
