At first we'll consider different FASHIONS

  • flared coat and poncho coat
  • coco collarless coat and fur collar coat
  • military style overcoat
  • oversized cocoon coat,

Later we'll consider coat of different LENGTHS… That is

  • what to wear short jacket coat(classic and oversized coat)
  • what to combine a coat with to mid-thigh(photo examples of style)
  • how to wear classic knee-length coat with trousers and skirts
  • and a long coat fashionable in this season (midi and maxi).

So that everyone who is looking for-prowling - finds at once in one place all the answers to the questions - what and how can be worn with a coat. In addition ... if you have not bought yourself a coat yet, then this article will certainly help you realize WHAT EXACT coat you want to buy.

So - we dive into the laws of the coat genre.

And we start by sorting out with coats of different lengths (from the shortest to the longest).

COAT LENGTH

rules for choosing clothes under a coat of different lengths

Short COAT-BLAZER

(what to wear this season)

Short coat (coat that reveals the buttocks) - are worn with trousers (narrow and wide), with shorts, jeans, with dresses.

If the coat is very short - that is, it ends just below the waist and almost looks like a small jacket or jacket - then all types of clothing that allow a jacket can also allow this coat into their style set.

A short coat-jacket can be fitted with beautiful elements of decoration (pockets, double rows of buttons, drapery along the line of the fastener, etc.).

Looks beautiful if the edge of a tunic or blouse peeps out from under the edge of a short coat. And if the coat is cut like a mini-jacket, then the tunic itself asks for it

It is beautiful to wear such a coat-jacket wide open (even double-breasted). Look especially stylish fashion models wide cut from dense drape.

The laconic and cut of a short short coat can be complicated additional accessories- a scarf, or a narrow neckerchief-tie.

How to wear skirts with a short coat.
There is one rule for skirts and dresses that look out from under a short coat - it can be formulated as follows:

  • E if the cut of the coat is extended to the bottom, then the skirt should be fluffy.
  • If the coat is cut straight- then the hem of a dress or skirt can be straight. So that harmony is not disturbed.

Only very smart stylists can break harmony. And then, as a rule, their "violation" looks so harmonious that it immediately ceases to be a violation and becomes new rule of harmony.

The most varied shoes under a coat-jacket are also allowed - jackboots, boots, ankle boots, shoes.

How To Wear Pants With a Short Coat. A short coat (a coat that covers the buttocks) can be worn with skinny jeans or pants (such as chinos that are trendy this season).

Mid-Thigh Coat

(how to wear with shoes and ankle boots).

A mid-thigh coat can and should be worn WITH SHOES. The short length in itself makes the style of the coat lighter - and therefore light shoes are allowed in a pair with the coat. Especially if the color of the coat is also light, light.

Always evaluate the visual "heaviness" of the coat. and for this weight choose shoes of the same "weight" as the coat.

The "visual weight" of a coat is made up of such factors - firstly, the length; secondly, large elements (collars, lapels, draperies, pockets); thirdly, the color (heavy dark tones are worse combined with light shoes).

If the coat is dark, then light elements of the top (scarf, light bag, blouse, etc.) will help to balance it (in the direction of "relief").

And you can also visually make the lower part heavier (due to dark trousers, tight tights, a bag that is at the bottom in your hands, and not at the top on the shoulder) - and then the whole image as a whole is balanced (the weight of the bottom and the weight of the top are equalized).

And further… this long coat also allows SPORT FOOTWEAR... But only if FASON is also minimalistic and close to a business jacket.

Classic Knee-Length Coat
(this season's style rules).

Classic coat - up to the knee - can be worn with a skirt, trousers and jeans. The style of the coat itself will tell you what suits it (we will deal with the styles a little lower in the same article).
I just want to draw your attention to the fact that the dimensions of the coat should be balanced with the dimensions of the shoes. That is, the more massive the coat looks, the more massive your shoes should be.

Massiveness on the coat is created by large cut elements(collars, patch pockets) or large elements of the picture(for example, a large plaid cell).

Although the model oversized oversized coat, despite its powerful cut dimensions, allows narrow shoes with thin heels. Here everything must be decided individually, your height, and the color of the coat itself and clothes under the coat, and accessories play a role - we just look in the mirror and ask ourselves if there is any preponderance and disharmony here.

Also, color affects the visual dimension of the coat.- dark coats look visually heavier than light coats - and thin legs in pantyhose under such a dark coat as a cloud do not look - ankle boots, ankle boots and boots are better, and if the shoes are massive and paired with trousers or jeans.

But even if you have a dark coat, you can still wear it with shoes if you add a light element to the neck area - for example, a voluminous scarf in a light cage.

What to wear with a LONG coat.

A long coat (with a length below the knee, to the middle of the lower leg and below) in cold weather is usually worn with boots, and part of the bootlegs generously hides the hem of the coat.

But boots with such a length are not necessary - boots will do just fine here - in addition to tight leggings, tights, or tight jeans-pipes.

Also, under such a long coat, you can wear a dress with a hemline that is flush with the edge of the coat.

Such a coat can be worn with shoes (left photo below) - but only if you know how to do it. Here subtlety is needed. The absence of unnecessary details of finishing on the coat, the softness of the fabric (so that the coat does not stand with an ax, but gracefully flows around you), and shoes should be massive enough (platform is better) to withstand this coat.

A long coat looks good with classic, semi-athletic trousers, and chinos that are fashionable this season.

Such a long coat with skinny skinny jeans is also fashionable.

FASHION COATS

style examples for different coat models.

What to wear with STRAIGHT FIT coat.

The straight coat is a classic style. This is the design base from which you can create a touching fragile image of a woman. Men's straight cut lines only emphasize femininity one that is wrapped in such an ascetic, rectilinear shell.
The length can be different - below the knee, knee-deep, to mid-thigh.

Even the most male lines the cut of a straight coat looks good on graceful female figures.

As you can see in the photo below, the STRAIGHT cut coat can be worn with anything.

See? And with ankle boots, and with shoes, and with socks, and golf.

A straight coat can be worn just like that (buttoned / unbuttoned) or girded with a belt - fit it unbuttoned, especially under an elegant dress.

Classic SLIM coat silhouette.

A fitted silhouette is what is most often looked for when choosing a coat. He is chosen even by those whose life circumstances have stolen their waist. And this is absolutely not their style - for overweight women or pregnant women, we recommend choosing completely different styles (they will be discussed below, this is a straight style with an oversized cut or a rounded cocoon style).

A fitted coat can be worn with tight jeans and trousers, with a skirt (tapered or fluffy) - with ankle boots, boots, shoes.

You can further emphasize the waist in a coat with a wide belt or a thin belt. It will work beautifully if the coat is left unbuttoned.

How to wear a COCOON COAT

(wide and large silhouette OVERSIZE)

Cocoon coat(or Oversize coat) - this is a "bulky" style of a coat ... loose at the shoulders and slightly tapering towards the bottom. The oversized coat resembles a slightly crumpled letter "o" with its outlines.
Coat-oversize- this is a model that visually seems to be 2-3 sizes larger than necessary - a coat from someone else's big shoulder. But this is the trend of the season and you need to boldly choose such styles and patiently explain to your grandmother that this is your size. and what is so fashionable to wear today.

A cocoon coat can be worn with skinny jeans ... under ankle boots or shoes. If you chose shoes ... then leave the coat unbuttoned ... and try to pull the sleeve up to the elbow.

Suitable for a cocoon coat and feminine boots, ankle boots, shoes ... and men's style shoes, like low boots with laces.

It is this style of coat (with an oversized cut) that is ideal for overweight women.
This can be seen if you look at the photos from the article.

With what to wear a coat WITHOUT COLLAR.

Collarless coat- created specifically to reveal a beautiful woman's neck ... This style revolution invented by Coco Chanel ... she believed that pearls and other jewelry could and should be worn with a coat. Modern fashion has dropped bright spillikins, replacing them with peeking lace collars or knitted knee-highs. It is also welcome to drape the neckline with scarves ...

Suitable for such a coat without a collar like ankle boots with pantyhose... so knee-high boots

You can add here any style elements... the main thing is that these elements support each other ... Like, for example, the hat, bags and heavy boots are held together in the right photo below.

Well, if we go back to Coco Chanel ... then this collection of coats presented below became the development of her idea of a gorgeous woman ...

GLAMOR COATS (without collar)

Agree, it's hard to pass by such pretty models ... graceful feminine ... for real ladies of royal blood ...

If you liked these youth coat models ... you can order them delivered to your home ... here on this French site with quite nice prices, as you can see ...

Fur collar on the coat.

Fur collar coat suitable for trousers, jeans and skinny short skirts, and warm dresses. For this style of coat, choose ankle boots, ankle boots and high heels with heels.

Business style lines suitable for a straight cut coat ... Jacket coat with a fur collar can be wear according to the rules of a regular jacket ...

HOW to wear the MAGNEL COAT (military style).

Coat army design but - not everyone dares to buy ... It often seems that it is not clear with what it will be possible to wear it ... In fact, a double-breasted overcoat gives many opportunities for beauty.

First, in the buttoned version, it creates a beautiful fitted silhouette- and two rows of buttons resemble a uniform, spicing up your look - a woman in uniform has always turned on the male imagination... So why not use that.

It's simple ideal for little women- a super-short coat worn over mini-shorts - will allow long legs in beautiful tights to start right from the edge of the coat (see photo below) ... this will lengthen the legs and pull up the whole figure as a whole.

Such an overcoat coat can be worn with skinny jeans, skinny pants... Also, the military style does not exclude a skirt or dress under a coat.

And if you add such a skirt-overcoat image high boots and a cap-cap- you can get a generally luxurious image ... Just leave your hair down so that in the image there was only a playful hint of uniform ... and not complete transformation into a soldier's lady with a tough military bearing.

With what to wear a coat with SHORT sleeves.

So ... now let's deal with short sleeves ... As we can see in the photo below - short sleeves can have any coat style(bell coat (left photo) ... straight coat without collar (middle photo) ... cocoon coat (gray coat on the right in the photo below)

Coats with short sleeves - in the classic version, they are worn with long gloves to the elbows. But this is optional. You can just put on a blouse under the bottom - and let the sleeves of the jacket look out of the sleeve of the coat - there is nothing wrong with that.

The main thing is that your sleeves are STYLISTICALLY JUSTIFIED by other elements of the image.

The easiest way- this is when the sleeves of the jacket match the color of the coat ... We just went to the store and bought such a jacket especially ... A calm option - just for those who does not dare to play fashion constructor- as in the example with a gray coat and a red and black jumper from the photo above.

But the classics of the genre are still elbow-length high gloves ...

But this is not at all necessary - the sleeves of the blouse may be of a different color... the main thing is that this color should not be too foreign for the whole image as a whole ... that is, something should justify this color ... a hat, shoes or a bag.

A-line coat

(high-waisted style under the chest).

A-line coat ... or a fly-over coat ... or a cliché coat ...(as soon as the people do not call this style of a coat with a high waist and expanding downwards like a bell.

This coat is ideal for for graceful short women... for young girls (the style emphasizes their youth ... turns into little pretty girls - this style of "Lolita" is obtained.

The perfect choice for a growing tummy- if you are planning a pregnancy, then this model will be very useful.

You can wear a trapeze coat as with narrow pants, skinny jeans, tights and shorts, so with lush skirts, with the same high-waisted dresses - with leggings and tunics

With what to wear PONCHO COAT of different styles.

Cape coat - looks beautiful on tall women ... If you are short, then it is better to wear platform shoes and choose either a not very fluffy poncho model, or not very long (slightly covering the buttocks) - then a poncho coat will look proportional for small stature.

The cape style usually resembles a poncho with cut-outs for the arms ... or has short, wide roll-up sleeves.

Such a poncho coat can have simple laconic cut(as in the photo below).

Or the cape coat can be tailored with drapery elements - with numerous lush soft folds

Or the style of the coat can be maximized close in cut to a classic poncho ... the same triangular shape and vertical arm slots. Then such a coat should be worn with long gloves to the elbows ... or with a long-sleeved blouse.

These cape coats can be worn both with boots ... and with shoes... The main thing is to choose an image that would justify your choice of shoes.

Wrap coat - how to choose the right one.

Wrap-around coat (spare coat) - can be of any style ... both fitted ... and close to the "overcoat" style (with two rows of buttons) and also have drapery elements (gray photo below).

A wrap coat should be chosen wisely too - some models can visually enlarge an already large breasts ... other models, on the contrary, will practically hide small breasts.

The floors (sashes) of the spare coat can be fixed with welt loops and buttons ... or with concealed inner buttons and belt or strap.

You need to wear a wrap coat according to the same rules of length and style - which I have already voiced:

What to wear with DAFKOLT - coat WITH A HOOD.

Duffle coat - refers to sports style ... Therefore, it is combined with the same things that you are used to combining a regular sports bike.

It can be jeans with sneakers ... leggings with sneakers ... shorts with athletic shoes.

And also ...

In the following articles I will tell you

Good luck with your style decisions.

Since a woman is a graceful creature, all her clothes, including the outer one, should favorably emphasize the dignity of the figure. That is why world-famous fashion designers and designers are tirelessly working on this task. It is they who come up with unique models of fur coats, sheepskin coats, jackets and down jackets. We will talk further about what types of women's coats were invented earlier, and which are relevant today.

Brief information about outerwear

The coat is considered one of the most common types of outerwear for women, designed for demi or winter period... Initially, it was created with the sole purpose of protecting the beautiful half of humanity from frost and cold. For the same reason, in the production of this garment, as a rule, wool and other fabrics with worsted threads were used.

A little later, the coat acquired a slightly different meaning. Its creators began to think not only about comfort and heat preservation, but also about its aesthetics. In particular, it was necessary to come up with new styles that would fit different This problem was solved, and new types of women's coats were born (photos of models will help you figure them out). But what are these varieties? And how much are they in demand today?

What types of women's coats are there? Classic

There are several varieties of women's coats, which differ in the type of cut, sewing method, style and other characteristics. Also, various models of outerwear may or may not have bright decorative elements.

In addition, the color scheme of outerwear is also varied, allowing you to put on a coat for any special events, parties or use for everyday wear. For example, at present, classic models are widespread, which can be conditionally divided into the following types of women's coats:

  • single-breasted with three buttons, lapels (fabric cuffs on the chest) in classic style and slanted, breast or horizontal pockets;
  • single-breasted with a hidden fastener, classic lapels and with several variations of pockets (inclined, horizontal or chest);
  • single-turn with three buttons, standard lapels and raised pockets;
  • double-breasted with three rows of buttons, several variations of pockets and lapels with sharp tips (this cut of outerwear is also called military or army).

Such (female) are classics of the genre. They can be worn anywhere. They will not distinguish you from the crowd, but they are suitable for everyday wear. And, of course, this kind of outerwear goes well with almost any outfit, be it a black pencil skirt or your favorite jeans.

Examples of conservative coats

A striking example of the conservative style of outerwear is the carpet coat. This model is a slim single-breasted coat with four decorative seams at the bottom and cuffs. Due to such an unusual visual effect, this decor is also called the "railroad".

It is believed that the first types of women's coats, made in a similar style, were used by hunters mainly in the cold season. That is why this model is endowed with a huge inner pocket located on the lower right side. Presumably, hunters hid food and stores with spare cartridges here.

In addition, the carpet coat is usually complemented by a striking collar made of dark brown velvet. And the fabric used for sewing such a model is made exclusively in beige or gray tones.

Types of coats (women's): names

Among such a huge variety of coat models, you can find products of various cut. For example, the most famous is the olster, which involves the use of thick twill when creating a long coat with a detachable hood and belt.

Balmakaan, named after the hunting grounds in Scotland, is considered no less popular. This design usually features a short collar, raglan sleeves and a concealed closure. It is noteworthy that these types of women's coats are usually made from coarse wool.

Pea jacket is a double-breasted (less often single-breasted) coat with a warm lining and a stylish turn-down collar. In addition, these models have neat patch pockets. By the way, initially such clothes were exclusively for sailors. It was they who made it possible to close the neck during strong winds, and the pockets served to transport various tools.

What types of coat silhouettes are there?

Any woman planning to purchase a coat dreams of finding a model that will perfectly fit her figure. However, for this you need to choose one of three silhouettes that match your height, build and style.

For example, it can be a straight, fitted or trapezoidal silhouette. In the first case, you can take the classic models of outerwear as a basis, which are produced mainly with a belt or belt to emphasize the contours of your waist. Flared coats - models with three-quarter sleeves. They suggest a rounded collar and are bell-shaped in shape. In the third case, the coat has a rather rectangular shape and a pronounced double-breasted collar.

Ulster

One example of loose-fitting outerwear is the duffle coat. As a rule, such hooded models have a short length (up to mid-thigh) and a rather remarkable decor in the form of massive buttons and decorative hinged loops. For the manufacture of such a product, a special fleece wool is usually used, presented in dark blue... Here are what types. Women's coats made in this style are almost indistinguishable from similar tailoring of men's outerwear.

What types of coats are there?

In addition to the classic cut of the coat, there are also models of unusual tailoring. For example, these include outerwear made in the Inverness style. This coat, unlike others, has no sleeves. Instead, there are only small slots for the hands. And the product itself has a free, slightly flared shape and a length of three quarters.

Another of the varieties of a manto coat is a product with one large and wide sleeves. These capes are usually made of fur. They do not contain pockets or fasteners. And, finally, another type of coat a la "bat" or, rather, "flying squirrel" is a poncho. This product, like a puzzle, consists of 1-2 large rectangular pieces of fabric, neatly sewn together. It has no sleeves, hoods and collars with sides. But for the hands in the poncho there are two slots, and there is also a hole for the head.

Short and long coats

Depending on the style, there are short and long models of outerwear. Moreover, in the first case, it can be fitted or flared types of coats (female). Photos with a cut-off bottom of the models clearly demonstrate the small length of the product. But as practice shows, it can be up to and just below the knee.

There are also fitted models that barely cover the protruding parts of the buttocks. They look more like a light jacket than a coat. Long models, for example, straight cut, on the contrary, can reach the knee, and even reach the very heels.

What is a hoodie coat?

There are other different types of women's coats. Hoodie is one example of custom-cut outerwear varieties. As a rule, these types of coats are more like a sports coat or a sweatshirt. Their length is usually up to the middle of the knee. They also feature a large hood, zip and cuffed sleeves.

In short, there are many different styles and silhouettes. But when choosing a particular model, you need to take into account the features of your figure. Remember! Your coat shouldn't highlight her flaws. On the contrary, it is simply obliged to indicate the merits.

Types of women's coats quite a bit of. But which of them should be in the wardrobe in order to look stylish and appropriate in any life situation, the question is interesting.
We have selected 5 types of classic women's coats, diverse in style and origin, and invite them to be inspired.

Which is closer to you: the clothes of military sailors or the cape of a knight from the Middle Ages? Balenciaga's flawless fit or a dandy-era invention?

View of a short double-breasted coat of a straight cut with a turn-down collar, large wooden or metal buttons and straight or slightly beveled pockets.

Since 1857, a pea jacket - part of the uniform outerwear in the British Navy, and later in the United States. The traditional colors are black and dark blue.

Length matters! A short pea jacket - for ordinary sailors, a long (aka brigde coat) for officers, there was also a version with gold buttons and epaulettes (reefer coat) for senior officers.

The pea jacket entered the civilian wardrobe in the scarce post-war years, and in the 1960s, women also appreciated it.

Fitted models appeared, length and color varied, prints were added ...

A pea jacket is certainly good with sweaters and, trousers and, but elegant feminine looks with a pea coat are even more interesting:

Don't forget about hats: a wide-brimmed hat (pictured above) comes in handy.

And in a feast, and in the world, and in the office, and for a walk with the dog:

Straight cut coat ¾ length (initially to the knee, shorter versions appeared later), with a hood, rectangular pockets and hinged loops with "walrus tusk" buttons.

The name of this type of coat comes from the name of the Belgian city of Duffle, the birthplace of the fabric of the same name (coarse and rather thick wool), from which duffle bags were also sewn.

The first duffle coat appeared in the 1850s, and 40 years later it became the uniform of the British Royal Navy. Due to its convenience, it was widely used during the Second World War, and after it, in the 50-60s, popularity came to duffle coat (especially among students) - huge stocks of "post-war" clothing became available to the general public at very low prices.

The traditional colors of a duffle coat are sand (aka camel) and dark blue with a plaid lining.

Now, of course, there are a great many colors of this wonderful coat - from "cheerful" to the eternal strict classics.

As well as prints and textures - you will not get bored at any age. And you can create different images.

Is gray boring? It was not so! We dilute with accessories, fur, denim, prints, ethnicity ...

A duffle coat is a very functional and practical coat, it cannot be called pretentious or very elegant, but the informality of a duffle coat gives tremendous freedom for self-expression.

3. Types of women's coats: Chesterfield

The Chesterfield, unlike the pea coat and duffle coat, has no military background.

This type of coat acquired its name by the name of the 6th Earl of Chesterfield, who at the beginning of the 19th century ordered to sew something like a frock coat for himself. The earl was a famous dandy, and the coat was very innovative for its time. Its main difference from the outerwear that existed at that time was a straight cut and the absence of a seam along the waist line.

Single-breasted or, less often, double-breasted, straight or semi-fitted, with a regular or hidden clasp, short lapels, velvet top collar (however, not always now), knee-length.

Pay attention to the pockets with flaps (in some cases, the flaps could be hidden inside, and the pocket itself turned into a classic "frame").

The Chesterfield coat migrated to the women's wardrobe in the 1910s, and so it remained there - comfortable, elegant, stylish.

What to wear with Chesterfield?

The sleek lines and elegant fit of this coat are perfect for office outfits, both formal and business casual, and neutral colors will make a great pair with:

At the same time, the straight fit is conducive to wearing shoes without heels and relaxed casual:

4. Types of women's coats: cocoon

Wide at the waist and tapering downward, resembling a cocoon in shape - hence the name.

A whole ode can be dedicated to this type of coat, if only because it was created (as we know it) by the great master - Cristobal Balenciaga.

Balenciaga's models were distinguished by restrained lines, full of dignity with calm forms, every seam here is a work of art.

Since then, the cocoon, in fact, did not go out of fashion, although the degree of its popularity in different years was different.

Over the past few years, cocoon coats have experienced another boom - designers are vying with each other to offer all kinds of colors, textures, prints and lengths.

The cocoon coat easily fits into the wardrobe and different styles, especially in the case of one of the basic colors.

With sneakers, it is relevant and convenient, and a chic cocoon will give status to simple outfits with jeans (do not forget about accessories):

Achromatic colors - do not subtract, do not add, verified lines and elegant shapes. To Paris, to Paris!

Fur - for our harsh climate and those who prefer natural textures:

Lovers of bright colors will not leave indifferent either:

Interesting prints, like bright colours, will make the coat a cocoon the center of the composition, and you will be the star.

Influence of Japan? Indisputably.

5. Types of women's coats: Cape

Cape with a tailored shoulder line and slots for arms instead of sleeves (however, options without slots are possible, the key element of the cape is the shoulder line).

The history of the Cape began in medieval England, where the long cape with a hood was highly valued by knights for its practicality and comfort when riding.

Similar capes were used by priests and monks. And in the 18th century, the cape coat was already widely used in the female gadrerob - and really, what could be more comfortable when you are wearing a skirt with a crinoline ?!

Thanks to Pierre Cardin, this type of coat became very popular in the 1960s, although in the 1950s some cape models were present in Dior's collections.

Jacqueline Kennedy, who, according to her status, was not supposed to dress in European fashion designers, nevertheless copied many fashionable models (all her clothes were sewn in the USA).

On the one hand, a cape, due to its long and varied history, is a difficult, demanding thing for special occasions, on the other hand, it can be combined with even the most simple ones, transforming boring basic things.

The stylish historicism of the cape can be supported by a roll of it with other elements of clothing, for example, jackboots:

Or a hat:

Embroidered slippers complete with jeans, a vintage handbag or Victorian lace:

The richer the texture and longer the cape, the more effective it is and more suitable for special occasions:

And bright prints will express your individuality and / or sense of humor (mentally we replace shoes and sandals with boots):

Not all capes are equally useful: the cap makes the outlines of the figure invisible, it can both hide the unnecessary, giving harmony, and expand.

In order for the coat to really warm, there must be at least 60% of the wool in the composition. Additional insulation can be a lining, for example, on a padding polyester.
For especially cold days, as well as lovers of layering in clothes, thin down jackets or vests will come to the rescue.
