To work with the cleaner, we need the same application - Mi Home. After switching on, the device is automatically detected and connected to the system. The connection process is standard, I will not describe it again, I will just say that in the general list of devices in the Mi Home application - the Grid View display mode - which I call "Remote control for remote control" - information about the level of contamination is displayed in the purifier square. 600 PM2.5 - I didn’t put it in the cement shop, there was such a value out of the box.

By scrolling below, you can see the temperature and humidity, the assessment of the comfort of the climate and air quality, the number of days before the filter change and the location. It also contains information on the amount of purified air. The cleaner has been working for me for more than a week, in automatic mode, in the scripts of the smart home, it is prescribed to switch to sleep mode at 22:30 and exit at 6:00 on weekdays and 8:30 on weekends. Subjectively - it has become easier to breathe, although this may also be the effect of self-hypnosis - although a constantly running fan mixes the air in the room, it becomes noticeably cooler with intense work.

Why is he needed at all

An air purifier appeared in the house on the recommendation of the attending physician. According to an allergist at the local clinic, the device will reduce reactions by eliminating household allergens as much as possible. Why Xiaomi? The cost of Air Purifier 2 was found to be comparable to inexpensive purifiers available offline.

At that time, many gadgets of the Chinese brand were firmly settled in the apartment, and the acquisition of another ecosystem accessory seemed logical.

Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2- the second modification of the purifier, designed for deliveries to other regions. The updated device is devoid of the shortcomings of the first version. The dimensions have decreased, the efficiency has increased and, more importantly, the results of the device's operation now meet international requirements.

Now the device is designed to clean rooms up to 330 cubic meters in volume, or up to 46 square meters by area.

Purifier functionality and performance. What is the point

The construction is simple. On top there are two blowing fans, under them there is a triple filter. Air is sucked in through holes in the housing, cleaned and drawn out by the turbine.

At minimum power, the volume of the fans less than the noise level outside the window(including double-glazed windows). But at maximum, Mi Purifier makes sounds comparable to a kitchen hood, a powerful vacuum cleaner or an idle power tool.

In the first mode, the purifier independently determines the level of pollution using temperature, humidity and air quality sensors (according to subjective observations, it is quite successful). When the second mode is activated, Mi Purifier reduces the number of revolutions (and, accordingly, the noise level) to a minimum.

Custom by default starts the fans at medium speed. Long press of the button turns off the cleaner.

There are three operating mode indicators on the front panel, and an indoor air quality indicator is located almost at the floor. If the air in the room is clean, the indicators light up green. Red means heavily polluted air. Yellow - intermediate pollution level.

The large, replaceable filter combines air through Hepa and activated carbon. Over time, it becomes dirty and loses its properties, so the maximum operating time is 150 days of work.

Much has been written about the functioning of the unit as part of the "smart" home system. Unfortunately, the official version of MiHome required for it to work from Google Play not intended for work in Russia. Therefore, part of the functionality is left overboard.

At the moment MiHome is being launched on English language and does not cause such rejection as six months ago. But problems with connecting devices persisted. And it also did not learn to determine the quality of air in our latitudes.

Air purification quality testing

Officially, the device is able to purify the air from hazardous small particles of PM0.3 categories (up to 99.5% of those dispersed in the room will end up in filters), PM2.5 (99.7%) formaldehyde (91%), large particles hazardous to health - up to 100%.

The test was carried out using a "smoke generator" (2 people, one large hookah for two pipes, an hour of hard "labor" and tightly closed windows) in a room measuring 12 square meters and a total volume of 30 cubic meters.

During testing of Mi Air Purifier 2, the common hood was blocked, and the Auto mode was set on the device. After that, a similar study was carried out during the operation of the general air conditioning system.

The smoke level was calibrated using the Mi Air Purifier 2 dust sensor via the MiHome application. The initial value was taken to be 500 units. When using the purifier, it took 20 minutes to reach 50 units. After half an hour, the test came to an end with an indicator of 30 units, corresponding to clean air.

It took two hours for the home ventilation system to reduce smoke. Purely for performance comparison.

Subjective efficiency

At the household level, the work of Mi Air Purifier 2 is visible to the naked eye. It assumes several scenarios of use. The main one is as permanent air purifier. Secondary - instead of a household hood. The difference in air quality in the first scenario can be seen several weeks later.

An allergic person can breathe air from a smoky room after 10 minutes of operating the air cleaner at maximum power. Or half an hour later, if the room is filled with cigarette smoke.

Common kitchen odors, steam and smoke generated during cooking disappear in minutes.

Preservation of particularly persistent odors is possible. Particles from the filter can return to the air, be sucked back into the cleaner, and so on several times in a row.
