Choosing an electric oven with dimensions for the box

Having decided to buy a built-in oven, considerable attention should be paid to the cabinet in which it will be located. You can purchase it along with the oven, however, they are often sold without a box in the kit. In this case, you will need to select it yourself. What to look for when buying?

First of all, you need to know the exact measurements of the oven. The height and depth of the box should be 15-20mm more for normal air circulation. In this case, the difference should not be greater, otherwise difficulties will arise during mounting and installation.

Installing and connecting the electric oven

Take care of the electrical wiring in advance. At the place where the oven is installed, a wire outlet must be provided in advance, because this type of construction does not have a plug, but requires direct connection to the mains.

When choosing a box, make sure that there are strips that strengthen the horizon.

In the absence of a suitable box on sale, the question arises whether to make furniture to order, or to design everything with your own hands. In this case, it is better to entrust the matter to a professional. This is especially true for the installation of the cabinet and the oven itself, since the skills of an electrician are still required here.

Necessary tools for making a box with your own hands

However, if you have experience in making furniture with your own hands, making a box for an oven will not be a problem. To do this, you need to make measurements of the electrical appliance and, in accordance with the data obtained, a drawing of the future product. Further, having necessary tools(saw, screwdriver, electric drill, wood glue) and materials (chipboard, countertop, dowels, furniture confirmations, screws, guides, legs for the box) you can easily make a cabinet for the built-in oven with your own hands.

In traditional kitchen ovens, the oven is combined with the hob. But not all housewives are satisfied with this option for organizing the workspace. To make the cooking process as convenient as possible, and the kitchen interior to be stylish and compact, special furniture is used to build in ovens.

Features and benefits of a kitchen with a built-in oven

An oven cabinet is a design designed to install an oven in it. It can either be part of a furniture set or be purchased separately.

The advantages of a kitchen interior with a built-in oven include:

  • external appeal - such an interior looks much more elegant than a kitchen with a conventional oven;
  • saving useful space;
  • the ability to organize a "working triangle" (cooking area) as it is convenient for the owners of the house;
  • practicality - such furniture often combines several functions at once. For example, it can serve as a storage system.

But such a solution also has features that must be taken into account when choosing:

  • the cost of built-in appliances, complete with furniture, is higher than traditional;
  • in the event of a rearrangement or failure of equipment, problems may arise: the oven will have to be changed along with the cabinet, since it will be difficult to find a structure that is suitable in size - usually the furniture is selected for the equipment, and not vice versa.

Types of designs of kitchen cabinets for built-in ovens

Two types of furniture are used for embedding equipment:

  • floor stands;
  • cabinets-pencil cases.

The curbstone for the built-in oven allows it to be placed at a height of no more than 20 cm from the floor. For most housewives, this is a familiar option.

A cabinet for an oven involves placing equipment on one of its shelves and has the following advantages:

  • allows you to set the oven at an optimal height;
  • makes it possible to make it inaccessible to small children;
  • ideal for people who have a hard time bending over.

Pencil cases are not suitable for cramped kitchens - they look too bulky there. In this case, it is better to choose a higher base cabinet.

Depending on the shape, the furniture for the oven can be:

  • straight line - in the form of a rectangle. Typically, such designs are part of the furniture composition of the headset;
  • angular - they are made in the form of triangles or trapezoids and allow you to install equipment in the corner.

Particular attention should be paid to the material from which the cabinet is made. It must not only withstand the impressive weight of the equipment, but also be heat-resistant and safe for humans.

For the manufacture of structures for the oven use:

  • Chipboard - it is inexpensive and does not have high performance properties;
  • MDF is a higher quality material. Furniture from it is durable and does not deform under the influence of steam;
  • natural wood is a material that requires special care. It is used for the production of oven cabinets on rare occasions.

For the manufacture of rear walls and bent facade elements, fiberboard or plywood are used.

The material itself and its coatings must not contain toxic synthetic substances: under the influence of heat, they enter the air and can cause serious poisoning.

How to choose a cabinet for the oven - what requirements should be presented

Built-in ovens can be:

  • gas;
  • electric.

Gas ovens are more expensive, but they pay off faster - gas is cheaper than electricity. However, the heat in them is not distributed so evenly and some foods are not baked.

In any case, furniture should be equipped with a ventilation system - a grill or special holes. Some models are available without a back panel.

Electric models are not economical and require high-quality wiring, but the dishes are cooked in them evenly, for which they have received the recognition of most housewives.

It is important to choose the right size for your furniture. If this is an oven cabinet, then its height is usually from 65 to 80 cm.

Depending on the design, this parameter includes:

  • the height of the box for the oven - 59.5 or 60 cm (standard);
  • the height of the legs / basement - 10-12 cm;
  • countertop thickness - 2-4 cm;
  • drawer height - 10-20 cm.

The depth of the cabinet is from 50 to 65 cm, depending on the model of the built-in appliances. Of these, about 10-13 cm is the overlap of the countertop on the body, which is necessary for the stable placement of the oven. Width varies from 50 to 120 cm.

The sizes of kitchen cabinets are more variable, their depth and width are identical to the parameters of the pedestals, and the height can be from 160 to 220 cm.

The oven module should always be larger than the equipment itself in order to ensure free air circulation.

What can be combined in a cabinet for a built-in oven

A cabinet for a built-in oven can combine the functions of other household appliances:

  • Microwave ovens (microwave ovens);
  • hobs.

An oven with a microwave function has gained wide popularity due to its practicality and convenience. It allows you to use the oven as a microwave, and modern models equipped with other modes of operation - for example, defrosting, grilling, baking.

Structurally, this technique is an oven equipped with a magnetron - a microwave generator.

Any oven can be combined with a hob. There are two options for this technique:

  • dependent set - in it the cabinet and the panel have common system management;
  • independent - in this case, the oven and the panel are purchased separately.

The dependent kit looks stylish and harmonious, but is inferior to the independent one in practicality - in case of a breakdown, the entire structure fails. In addition, in the latter case, there is a choice of technology that meets the needs of the hostess.

Additional equipping of oven cabinets - storage and opening systems

Oven furniture can be used to store kitchen utensils.

For floor pedestals, the storage system is represented by an upper or lower drawer of limited height. Because of this, only certain items can be stored in it. For example, pans and baking sheets.

A pencil case has more possibilities for organizing a storage system - in it it can be represented by open shelves, drawers and compartments with doors.

Usually the oven is built in the middle of the structure, so the storage compartment is located at the bottom or at the top.

In the closed sections of the cabinet-pencil case are used Various types door opening mechanisms:

  • swing doors - the simplest: the doors are hinged and open "towards themselves";
  • folding - horizontal hinged system: opening up or down;
  • lifting - open with gas lifts.

Rules for placing an oven cabinet in a kitchen set

In order for the oven cabinet to harmoniously fit into the interior of the kitchen, to be convenient and safe to use, observe the following recommendations when placing it:

  • follow the rule of the "working triangle" - a space bounded by three points: an oven, a sink and a refrigerator. The total amount of its sides should not exceed 6 meters;
  • pick up comfortable height technology. The best option is from 20 to 80 cm above the floor level;
  • do not place the oven close to the refrigerator: this can lead to damage to one of the appliances;
  • the distance between the sink and the oven must be less than 45 cm to avoid short circuits;
  • the gas oven should be located no further than 1.2 m from the pipe - the longer the hose, the less reliable it is;
  • think over the opening area. It should allow you to freely pull the baking sheet out of the oven.

Stages and rules for installing an oven in a kitchen set

Installation of a built-in oven consists of several stages:

  • testing equipment for operability by connecting to the network;
  • installation of the cabinet in the right place;
  • checking the wiring - it must have a sufficient level of resistance and be grounded. It is desirable to have a circuit breaker that is triggered by voltage drops;
  • if the oven is gas, check the pipes. They must be intact, without damage;
  • placing the oven in the furniture niche. If the cabinet is equipped with a back wall, then holes must be made in it for the wires;
  • [email protected] site
    P.S. We do not sell furniture, we only help you to get acquainted with what happens and navigate in the choice.

The built-in oven is a very convenient model. Not everyone is satisfied with the option when the oven is located under the hob: especially when both units need to be turned on at the same time. The independent model can be placed anywhere and at any height.

Product dimensions

The production of ovens was started by foreign companies. This noticeably affected the dimensions of the product.

The standard width of models is considered to be 90–120 cm. This corresponds to the European concept of comfort.

  • However, the standards of Russian kitchen sets are completely different. Here the cabinet for the oven and the hob has a width of 60 cm. In this case, the manufacturers of the devices gave way and began to produce models with the corresponding width. For example, famous manufacturer Ikea household goods.

In order to ensure ease of installation, the width of the oven should be reduced by 1–2 cm.

  • Today you can find very miniature built-in models - with a width of 45 cm and a height of 60 cm. However, these are rather test samples. As a rule, even with a width of 45 cm, the height remains the standard - 85 cm.
  • The depth in most products is 50–55 cm.

The cabinet under the built-in oven is usually equipped with a drawer for storing baking trays, dishes and other things.

Materials and tools

Do-it-yourself cabinet for an oven is a very real task. There are no particular difficulties here. To make it you will need the following:

  • plywood or chipboard 16-18 mm thick;
  • a worktop with a thickness of 28 mm or more;
  • legs;
  • furniture confirmations, dowels and screws;
  • guides;
  • electric drill;
  • joiner's glue.

Kitchen cabinet calculations

As a rule, the instructions for the oven contain data not only on the dimensions of the model itself, but also on the requirements for the installation niche. This should be used in the calculations.

The cabinet for the oven has dimensions equal to the parameters of the installation niche plus the thickness of the material used. In fact, it is a box with a double bottom - horizons 1 and 2 and a horizontal bar at the top - a body bar. The latter is required for the normal fastening of the hob to the worktop. In addition, this part maintains the distance between the sidewalls, which is also important.

First, you need to make calculations, then the following parts are cut out of the chipboard or MDF sheets:

  • sidewalls - the sum of the height of the niche, the thickness of the table top and the height of the legs - 2 pcs;
  • horizon - that is, the bottom, the dimensions are exactly equal to the parameters of the installation niche - depth and width - 2 pcs;
  • body strip - its length is equal to the width of the niche, and its own width does not exceed 100 mm.

The back wall of the drawer, as a rule, is not included in the detailing: it is made from fiberboard scraps. Usually its height does not exceed 100 mm.

Drawer parts are calculated using the residual method. This is easy to do:

  • the height of the facade is equal to the difference in the height of the kitchen cabinet, the height of the legs and the thickness of the first horizon. The facade does not overlap it due to the peculiarities of the installation of the oven. Width corresponds to 60 cm minus 3 mm. As a rule, there is no handle here: to make it more convenient to use, a notch is made on the second horizon;
  • the side parts are equal in length to the depth of the cabinet minus the gaps, and in height - to the distance between the two horizons minus the gaps;
  • the length of the back wall takes into account the thickness of both sides and the thickness of the rails.

Chipboard or MDF can be cut to size in the workshop: using professional equipment, the pattern will take much less time, and accuracy is guaranteed. In addition, in most cases, parts are trimmed here - they close the ends with a melamine strip. Otherwise, the operation will have to be done by hand.

Assembling the product

The kitchen cabinet for the oven and the hob is assembled for confirmation or dowels. The fastening of the latter is duplicated with glue. Holes for them are drilled in advance.

Mounting on self-tapping screws is allowed.

  1. First you need to assemble the box itself - the sidewalls and horizontals.
  2. Then fix the body strip by lowering it 10 mm from the edge of the sidewall.
  3. The legs must be attached to the bottom of the product with self-tapping screws.
  4. If it is decided to make a drawer, then, before installing the first horizon, guides are attached to the walls - hinged or telescopic.
  5. Install back wall.
  6. Assemble the product and install it on the guides.

Do-it-yourself cabinet for the oven is ready. In the photo you can see a product that is in no way inferior even to well-known brands like Ikea.

V modern kitchens more and more often you can see built-in household appliances. And this is not surprising. Stoves and refrigerators integrated into kitchen sets, washing and dishwashers, microwave and UHF ovens allow you to save the work surface, more functionally dispose of the inner space of the cabinets. And, of course, they give a more holistic and harmonious look to the overall design of the kitchen. How to build an oven with your own hands? It is worth starting with the correct layout. kitchen set.

With a competent approach to the development of a kitchen design project, the location of a free-standing stove or a duet "oven + hob" is inextricably linked with the supply of the hood to the ventilation shaft. Therefore, even at the stage of the beginning of the repair, it is possible to clearly determine the location of the oven. And, accordingly, provide sockets for its connection.

However, not everything is clear here. It is impossible to locate the outlet strictly behind the oven. When the plug is included in it, a "dead" zone is formed, which will not allow the oven to slide in to the desired depth.

The option of placing the outlet below the level of the oven is also not very successful. It is much more convenient to first turn off the equipment, and only then remove it from the kitchen cabinet. And not vice versa - when there is a need to disconnect from the network, start to push a rather heavy unit.

The most optimal solution is to move the outlet below the level of the table top into a nearby cabinet. Ideally, there are drawers in the adjacent cabinet near the oven. Then, in the cabinet itself, you can not install the back wall at all. It is enough to remove the required drawer - and access to the outlet is open.

It is also a good solution to screw an overhead socket to the side of the cabinet with swing doors... Hinder she internal filling there will be no pedestals, but it is quite convenient to use it.

The main thing is that this curbstone does not turn out to be a table under the sink. Such close proximity to water, sewer drain is undesirable.

Drawings of how to build an oven with your own hands

This task is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. To facilitate installation, household appliances are produced in certain standard dimensions. You can always swap one built-in oven for another without changing kitchen furniture.

The standards here are simple: any electric or gas oven is built into a 600x600 mm niche. Moreover, the width of the niche is 600 mm, taking into account the thickness of the side walls of the module for the oven (according to the requirements of most models, the final size of the opening must be at least 560 mm).

The depth of the oven is designed to fit under a worktop with a standard width of 600 mm. That is, the body to the front overhang should be 550-560 mm. It will not work to build an oven with your own hands under a narrowed countertop. But under the extended one, in various design variations, it is quite.

Nuances can arise in specific non-standard cases. Therefore, carefully study the instructions at the stage of purchasing household appliances. For some ovens, it is required to provide space for ventilation in the design of the box.

Or even a special cutout for air circulation in the bottom of the cabinet or countertop.

A typical design of a cabinet for an oven is shown in the drawing.

If the pedestal table is "clamped" between adjacent modules, then there is no need for an upper clamping bar. Many furniture makers do not install it at all.

If the height of the kitchen unit is standard (840-850 mm with different thicknesses of the worktop), then the height of the side of the cabinet for the oven will be 720 mm. By simple calculations (720-600), we get a space of 120 mm at the bottom of the installation. More precisely, the free space will be (120-32) only 88 mm, minus the thickness of the bottom and shelf.

A drawer with a box with a height of 50-60 mm is usually built into this space. If you increase the height of the lower row of the kitchen to match your height (you can read about this), then the drawer will be deeper and more functional.

Actually, according to the same principle, the curbstone "turns" into a cabinet for a built-in oven. We just increase the height of the space of the bottom drawer.

But there is one important nuance... The depth of the sidewalls of the increased cabinet height must also be increased so that the gap between the wall and the cabinet body is not visible.

This means that the air circulation near the oven built in this way will be disrupted with your own hands. It is not for nothing that a separate drawing is attached to the instructions for the ovens for the installation in the pencil case. In which you can see that you need to leave the drink under air circulation.

Therefore, a cutout should be provided in the countertop covering such a low cabinet for a built-in oven with your own hands. It can be covered with a ventilation grill.

Do-it-yourself oven cabinet, drawings and calculations

Take, for example, calculating a cabinet for a built-in oven of standard sizes. Its drawing will look like this.

With a tabletop width of 600 mm, taking into account the overhang at the front and rear, the depth of the cabinet will vary between 460-500 mm.

If it is decided to place the tensioning bar in the center of the module, then it should be lowered by about 10 mm relative to the sidewalls. Otherwise, it will interfere with cutting the hob into the worktop above the oven with your own hands.

If the cabinet body is made of laminated chipboard 16 mm thick, then the calculation of the parts will look like this.

Part name length width qty
1 Bottom 600 500 1
2 Shelf 568 500 1
3 Sidewalls 704 500 2
4 The backdrop behind the drawers 88 568 1
5 Drawer side 450 60 2
6 Drawer forehead 510 60 2
1 Drawer bottom (fiberboard) 540 448 1
2 Drawer facade (laminated chipboard, MDF, solid wood) 116 596 1

Sometimes the drawer in the design of the box for the oven is abandoned altogether. It is absolutely not needed as a storage place, if the kitchen is large and there are enough drawers, the hostess has enough shelves in it. Then a "blende" (rigidly fixed facade) is placed on the opening under the oven.

Sketch of the body of the kitchen section, without facades.

In this section, full extension telescopic rails with a size of 550 mm are used as pull-out elements.

The edge is marked with a red line next to the size number. This means that this end of the part is front (visible) and must be faced with a furniture edge. If there are two lines, then this means that both ends of the part of the corresponding size are pasted over with an edge.

In the given detailing of the kitchen section (module), the dimensions are indicated without taking into account the thickness of the edge.

The thickness of furniture edges with a thickness of up to 0.6 mm does not need to be taken into account in the size of the part ... The size of the part will need to be reduced by the appropriate edge thickness if an edge such as ABS is 1 or 2 mm thick. For example: the width of the part is 400 mm., The thickness of the edge is 2 mm. it is necessary to paste over both ends of the part. Then the size of the width of the part must be adjusted taking into account the thickness of the edge. Those. you get 400 - 2 mm. - 2 mm. = 396 mm.
