Toilet décor: 7 ways to make the bathroom the most unbearable place in your apartment and 7 steps to turn it into the perfect room to "think"

The dressing room is very often undeservedly left without due attention in terms of the design of a beautiful design. Only a toilet bowl and monotonous bare walls of a hospital shade. It is with such a "landscape" that you have to start the day, which leaves its mark of dullness on it. It is he who is contemplated by the guests just at the moment when you cannot distract them with a conversation, and this "works" not in favor of increasing the authority of the hosts.

Personally, at home, I decided to change the situation, which I will tell you about in this article.

How not to do

First of all, I want to start my story with the fact that I saw something wrong in the bathrooms of different apartments that I happened to visit. So if you are looking to scare away guests, and also think you deserve a daily penance in the form of visiting a "sadness and sorrow" room, then here are 7 excellent ways to achieve this:

Method number 1: light monotony

It is common knowledge that light colors visually enlarge the space. And it seems that this is it - a solution for small bathrooms! But in practice, it turns out that a small toilet in this case becomes completely uncomfortable, flat and lifeless, reminiscent of hospital wards. Dilution of such uniformity will allow the interior to liven up and make it more friendly.

An exceptionally black toilet is also not worth doing, since, in addition to the problems described, it will also "squeeze" the room.

Method number 2: excessive contrast

To make one half of a tiny room, for example, light green, and the other pink, means giving yourself a migraine or at least a feeling of anxiety while visiting it. This approach only works in large rooms., although there, too, the combination of contrasts should be approached very carefully.

It would be much more correct to use metered inserts or borders to destroy boring uniformity, which I will dwell on in more detail when I describe the repair I did myself.

Method number 3: dark ceiling

Stretch ceiling? Great, perfect solution. LED spotlights? I installed the same ones. Black color? Why spoil everything? A noticeable deviation from the walls in the color spectrum towards darkening leads to the fact that the room immediately begins to be perceived lower than it really is, causing a feeling of impending threat... In this case, you don't want to linger on the toilet for a long time.

Method number 4: an overabundance of drawings

Two options should be highlighted here:

  1. The use of large images that visually bring the base on which they are applied, thereby making the room seem to be smaller. This method can make a spacious living room more comfortable, but in order to achieve a similar effect with a toilet, I do not know what size it should be;
  2. Application of many small patterns. If large objects narrow the space, then it is logical to assume that small ones, on the contrary, expand it. But here, again, you need to remember about the area of the bathroom: all such drawings will appear right in front of you, creating an unpleasant ripple. Although I should note that everything is not so simple here and sometimes it turns out to pick up a winning combination.

It is better to leave intricate ornaments in general for rooms with suitable dimensions.... If you really really want to decorate the "room of thought" in this way, then hang a panel in it, I even saw a self-portrait behind the toilet in one house, which, of course, is not for everybody, but it is quite acceptable from a design point of view.

Method number 5: "throne" in the center

The standard layout involves installing a toilet in the middle of the wall farthest from the door, which is why two unused areas are formed on its sides... Of course, you can put a brush or something else incredibly "important" there, but it is better to try to rearrange the entire structure to the side or even to a corner, and you will be pleasantly surprised by the free space that appears and the opportunities it provides.

Method number 6: fur and textiles

Soft fur rugs and cute fabric covers are such a wonderful decoration of the bathroom, especially in the photographs. In the process of operation, they very quickly lose their external beauty, and also carry additional problems:

  • Turn the cleaning process into a complex action for cleaning such delicate materials;
  • Violate basic hygiene rules, as they are an excellent environment for the accumulation and reproduction of pathogenic bacteria.

Method number 7: a colossal amount of accessories

Place a bookcase, artificial or natural flowers in vases, cleaning products and a variety of other small items around the toilet to feel like a participant in the "Fort Boyard" show every time you visit the toilet. If you are still going to use the bathroom for its intended purpose, then all accessories must be dosed hard, adhering to minimalism.

How can you do

So, now I will describe to you my own approach to decorating a toilet. It is not necessary to do everything exactly, but it is worth sticking to the general course of action if you want to turn your small bathroom into a comfortable and pleasant place for "reflection", which will be appreciated by your family members and guests.

Step number 1: selection of finishing materials

The bathroom puts forward its own requirements for finishing, among which in the first place:

Requirement Comments (1)
Hygiene Remember that we are talking about a sanitary area, which means that the walls, floor and ceiling should not contribute to the accumulation of any dirt.
Easy to clean Based on the previous paragraph, we can make an absolutely correct conclusion that the room needs frequent and thorough cleaning, and Decoration Materials should not prevent it
Moisture resistance Most of the cleaning will be done with a wet method, and the toilet itself is a rather damp room, so this factor should also be taken into account.
Resistance to household chemicals In the bathroom, it is necessary to carry out periodic disinfection, and the finish must be ready to endure such harsh treatment.

Guided by the listed requirements, I made the following decisions:

  1. Floor. Laid out with ceramic tiles... It fits perfectly on all counts and comes in an incredibly wide range of shapes and colors. I discarded the boards right away because of their infamous hydrophobicity. But as an alternative, I also considered a jellied floor, which also has high performance characteristics, but I preferred not to "spray" and stay on one material for both the floor and the walls;

  1. Walls. Here I, as already noted in the previous paragraph, also chose ceramics... But there are reasons why this option may not work for you, so consider it well:
    • Quite a high price. If you can't save much money with the floor, then much cheaper washable wallpaper or waterproof paint can be used here, although, of course, they are noticeably inferior in practicality;

    • Reduction of usable space. Tiles need an absolutely flat and smooth base, and rarely any walls adequately meet these requirements. As a result, they have to be pre-aligned, which can "eat" a few precious centimeters on each side, and this is quite noticeable for a small bathroom;

    • The complexity of the installation. Tiling work on your own is much more difficult to do than, for example, paint a wall or paste over with wallpaper;

If you are in doubt about your abilities, then it is better to invite a professional tiler to perform finishing works... The cost of his services will cost you less than a damaged interior.

  1. Ceiling. Sheathed with plastic... It is easy to keep clean and perfectly conceals any unevenness and electrical wiring that plaster or paint cannot handle. A good option can also be stretch ceiling, which will also provide protection from flooding from above, but it will cost more and will require the participation of specialists during installation.

Step # 2: masking communications

In my bathroom, at the wall opposite to the door, there are pipes, meters and shut-off valves, which previously did not create the best visual impression, but rather just awful. So I decided to sew them up by analogy with the plastic ceiling, fortunately, among the colossal variety of PVC panels, it was not difficult to find models suitable for the tiles of the rest of the interior.

Be sure to not forget to install an inspection door in the installed partition, so that you can access the taps and meters, as well as monitor the state of the pipeline.

If, for example, your toilet has only one pipe in the corner, then you can limit yourself to a box in order to save free space:

Step number 3: compact placement of plumbing

What was before the change located in the “thinking room” of my apartment? This:

  • The toilet itself;
  • Holder for toilet paper, which, by the way, can have an interesting and unusual shape;

  • Stand for the brush.

But if move the toilet a little to the side or even to a corner, then "magically" there will be a free space where you can install a small and a mirror:

Thus, the bathroom begins to look not only more comfortable and attractive, but also increases its functionality. After all, now in order to wash your hands and put yourself in order, you do not need to go to the bathroom. And due to the appearance of the reflection effect, we can also safely talk about the visual expansion of the room.

An interesting addition can be a hygienic shower, which takes up very little space, but makes personal care even more comfortable.

Step number 4: lighting arrangement

The former lonely lamp above the door was mercilessly removed by me, since the twilight it induced always had a somewhat depressing effect on me. Instead, I did plastic ceiling four holes and mounted in them, connecting to the network, LED spotlights. As a result, the toilet received abundant, but at the same time not eye-catching lighting.

I also recommend installing a motion sensor instead of the classic switch. This will not only make a visit to the bathroom more comfortable, but also exclude cases when the light accidentally remains on, in vain "shaking" the counter.

It is better to refuse sconces, wall lamps and chandeliers, as they "steal" an already small space, and also hang unpleasantly, causing conflicting feelings in the process of "thinking".

Step # 5: color schemes

The choice of color is a very important point in decoration. It is not worth making the design monotonous, as I already wrote about, it is best to choose some cold shade, which will visually "push apart" the walls, and dilute it with bright inserts, thereby making the interior more welcoming.

Although many prefer classic monochrome, when the bottom is made dark and the top is light, that also looks good:

By the way, it is very convenient to choose a color according to Feng Shui, since here Chinese philosophy is almost completely in solidarity with the advice of modern designers:

As you can see, for example, a gold toilet will look pretentious and will not give you the opportunity to relax, but interspersed with such a color scheme in the decoration or its predominance on accessories will look quite organic.

Although black is considered unfavorable, and white should not take up much space, in combination they can create a good composition:

Step 6: visually increase the space

In addition to the choice of color combinations, you can successfully apply more several methods of visual expansion of the area small toilet:

  1. During the tiling process, you can create accent areas with mosaics, colored glass or pebbles... They will serve as a kind of beacons for the eyes, due to which the distance between them will seem larger;
  2. Some areas can be decorate with vinyl stickers for the same purpose as indicated in the first paragraph;
  3. If a large mirror does not fit in your toilet in any way even after rearranging the toilet, then you can install several mirror tiles, which will create the necessary effect of "falling into the depth";
  4. Install the shelf higher so that the necessary accessories sit comfortably on it, without taking up space next to the toilet.

Step # 7: finishing touches

How to decorate a toilet with additional elements? Care should be taken here not to overload small room , both visually and operationally. To do this, I want to consider some commonly used techniques:

  • Pot with a plant. Perhaps you previously practiced gymnastics professionally and now easily maneuver around such an obstacle while visiting the bathroom, but your guests may not have such useful skills, and just imagine the embarrassment that will happen if one of them accidentally dumps your jewelry at the most crucial moment. Have indulgence;

  • A small picture behind the "throne" or on the side of the wall. Why not? Especially if your overall interior is too monotonous, then a colorful panel will dilute it favorably;

  • A toilet paper holder and brush with stand in the same style is a great stylistic move, to which you can also add a towel holder.

  • Whatnot above flush cistern... I'm not sure about the advisability of such a decision, since it threatens to turn the bathroom into a utility room.

Conclusion

Do not neglect the interior of the toilet, considering this room unworthy of your close attention. After all, you, as a rule, even start the day with it. Also, don't forget about the guests. Most likely, they will not get into the bedroom, but they will definitely go into the bathroom and appreciate all its pros and cons.

So familiarize yourself with what not and what you can do, and then put a decent order in the "room of thought" of your apartment or house.

The video in this article will give you the opportunity to join additional information regarding the presented materials. If you have any questions on the topic, ask them in the comments.

Thinking about the interior design of the toilet in the apartment, I want to add individuality. Not only the living room or kitchen, but also the bathroom also creates an overall picture of the room as a whole. The conditions in the toilet room can be completely different - either it is a large space in a private house, where there are no boundaries for imagination, or a small toilet for 1 sq. m, and it is necessary to take into account any nuances in the interior to create an atmosphere of comfort.

  • It is necessary to determine the location of the toilet;
  • Choose a design that suits your style or your liking;
  • Purchase all the necessary material;
  • Prepare floors and walls (renovation, decoration);
  • Provide lighting;
  • Hide the pipes to maximize the visual perception of the bathroom, but they must be freely accessible.

Toilet decoration

When the preparatory work is completed and you can begin to ennoble the room, the first thing to do is to choose a toilet. What design of the toilet in the apartment would not be chosen, modern wall-hung toilet bowls will fit into any interior. The floors are always accessible for cleaning, there is no such breeding ground for bacteria as with the standard arrangement of the toilet bowl on a leg, and it also takes up much less space, since the drain barrel is hidden in a niche, only the drain button is displayed above the toilet itself.

The material for finishing works should be chosen taking into account its ability to absorb odors. You also need to consider water resistance, color fastness and material to chemicals... Marble or ceramic tile- it the most popular material for wall decoration in the toilet and the most durable.

Another option for wall decoration is decorative plaster... It looks very beautiful and modern, its wear is insignificant, therefore, it will last for many years. Plaster has many types, one of the necessary characteristics is its water repellency. Well, it should be borne in mind that professional masters in decorative plaster it is not easy to find, this method has appeared much recently, moreover, the process is lengthy and not cheap.

More budget options will be:

    Plastic... It is very easy to work with plastic panels, easy to clean, and they look neat enough in the interior of the bathroom.

    Wallpaper are often used today, the material is easy to install, the variety and water-repellent properties of wallpaper allow them to last longer than the usual paper materials. Usually, when choosing this type of coating for the interior of the toilet walls, non-woven or vinyl wallpaper is preferred.

    Dye... To create a cozy and Beautiful design, you can just use paint. Choosing the right choice from a trusted paint manufacturer will also extend the life of your walls.

Color selection

As simplified version without resorting to any style is used neutral colors, white or beige colors, pastel colors, which can be diluted with decor - a picture or pots of flowers, which will ultimately be a classic design option.

It is not recommended to use dark and bright shades, this visually reduces the area of the room. If we are talking about the interior of a small room, in addition to the use of light colors in the decoration of the walls, light will play an important role in visually increasing the square. , regardless of its size, when it comes time to issue a design, plays an important role. It will be the right solution in addition to the main lighting install sconces or spotlights.

Toilet design 1 sq. m

The most popular, but already not fashionable a way to visually enlarge the room in the toilet room is to divide it into a light half and a dark one. The design of a small room assumes dark tiles from below approximately to the level of the head of the seated person, and light tiles are laid out to the ceiling. Or the option with highlighting the far wall in a brighter shade, and the two side walls in calm, light colors. Such methods both lengthen and make the room wider.

Another stylish option for a small bathroom is vertical stripes... Several types of tiles are used, if desired. The only requirement is a combination of colors and patterns. You can lay out floors and stripes with the same palette. Toilet tiles - classic and win-win design.

Ideas for interior design of a small bathroom can be safely used in different directions, modern technologies and materials for translating fantasy into reality are waiting for their buyer, the market is overflowing with means of arranging your comfort.

Bathroom from two square meters

There are much more design options for a modern toilet, with an area of at least two square meters. New design ideas, fashionable inventions can be used without stopping at the main task - to increase the space. Again, this may already be toilet with sink.

Talking about fashion trends toilet room design, it is worth paying attention to the 3D floor... These are self-leveling floors with a three-dimensional image and coating, it looks delightful and stylish if you use a pattern that matches the walls. For example, it can be a sandy beach or pebbles, you can imagine yourself somewhere on the shore of a warm sea (you need to take care of floor heating in advance).

When it comes to saving space, there are plumbing options with corner toilets or sinks... Space for toiletries must also be allocated. You can use the option of a shelf above the drain barrel or sink, or a small cabinet with divisions, which, being located under the very ceiling, will not be very conspicuous. Mirror installation- another method of expanding space and a necessary part of the interior in the bathroom, and by laying out the floor or ceiling with a mirror coating, you can get an amazing result.

We create a unique toilet and bathroom design. Photos of the best novelties of the interior of your bathroom. Advice on the choice of furniture, plumbing and materials, the selection of colors and the design of toilets of various sizes. The main focus on the design of a small toilet is a photo of the best ideas.

Choice of materials

When choosing a material for finishing a bathroom and toilet in an apartment, many homeowners prefer to purchase tile or ceramic tiles. For consumers unfamiliar with other materials that can decorate a room that constantly has high humidity, ceramics becomes the best way protecting the walls of the room from the appearance of fungus and mold.

The variety of colors and textures of ceramic tiles offered by manufacturers allows you to originally equip sanitary facilities by choosing the most suitable design solution. When purchasing ceramic tiles for decoration, consumers motivate their choice with attractive properties available in tiles:

  • moisture resistance;
  • provides ease of cleaning the room;
  • with long-term use does not lose its visual appeal;
  • the possibility of creating an original design of the toilet room.

However, in addition to traditional ceramic tiles, the market for finishing building materials offers more modern options decoration of the toilet and other wet rooms, no less practical and attractive. Plastic panels look great on the walls of the bathroom and toilet. Many are attracted by their performance properties and beautiful appearance.

Unfortunately, not every apartment can use them. Since during installation plastic panels for their fastening, crate walls are used, then the area of the room will decrease, which is unacceptable for the already small space of the toilet and bathroom.

Unfortunately, one cannot do without a crate. Although it smooths out the unevenness of the walls, the most important thing is that it eats up centimeters of an already small toilet room. And what always scared me - what if mold starts up behind the panels and you won't see it and will breathe it.

This problem can be avoided by decorating the bathroom with wallpaper. Nowadays, a sufficient number of wallpapers are produced that are resistant to high humidity. Rolls of such wallpaper are marked accordingly. Most often, vinyl and non-woven wallpapers are purchased for finishing the bathroom and toilet.

Relatively recently, another finishing material has appeared on the market, presented to consumers under the name "liquid wallpaper". When decorating a room, they are applied to the wall with a special roller, so it is difficult to call this material "wallpaper" in the full sense.

After the applied layer has dried, it is necessary to cover it on top with a solution that has water-repellent properties. Due to the ease of working with liquid wallpapers and the variety of their colors, they quickly become popular.

Facing with tiles

The tile offers several interesting solutions for creative design of a bathroom.

    Parameters that can be guided by when tiling walls with tiles:
  • form tile;
  • placement of tiles on the wall;
  • color combination.

Rectangular tiles can be used to visually expand a narrow room. To do this, the long side is along the short wall. Excessive height of ceilings will be concealed by a border of tiles, which must be done at half the height. To enhance the effect, choose two shades of tiles for the toilet, brighter or dark color place below the curb.

For low ceilings, visually add height by placing the tiles vertically. Consider a tile insert in a contrasting color or with a bold pattern.

An original solution for expanding the space of a small bathroom will be laying tiles diagonally. However, in this case, the consumption of tiles and the amount of scraps obtained increases, which can hit the budget allocated for the repair of a small toilet.

Tiles are produced today different sizes and forms. For the selection, the general idea should be taken into account in order to avoid the inharmonious design of a small bathroom when using too small or large tiles.

Selection of furniture and sanitary ware

Even if the toilet is very small, the owners want it to be comfortable and, as much as possible, cozy. To visually reduce the space, pay attention to the ergonomic hanging structure of the toilet. If space permits and there is a desire, it is worth purchasing a compact sink. So that the plumbing fixtures are not too conspicuous in a modest-sized room, its color should match the color of the walls - the toilet will seem more spacious.

Pipes and branches will significantly degrade the look, so be careful about masking them. One of the options: small doors that open access to pipes if necessary (for example, to repair them). It is better to think over these points and discuss with the master even before the start of the repair work.

An excellent solution for masking pipes is the use of drywall boards. With their help, it will be possible to hide any structures and counters. In addition, it does not take a lot of time and effort.

To make the toilets visually appear larger, you should prefer light doors without patterns and drawings. Glass inserts in the door material will also help in "enlarging" the room.

The element of the toilet design in the apartment familiar to the consumer - the rug - is able to visually reduce the room, so it is better to do without it. So that bare feet do not freeze on a cold tile, which will make you feel more comfortable in the toilet. If you can't imagine a toilet without a rug, get a solid color, without inscriptions, that matches the color of the floor.

The use of chrome parts visually increases the space.

    It's great if all the accessories are made in the same style:
  • sink faucet (if it was possible to place it);
  • stand for the brush and its handle itself;
  • paper roll holder or dispenser;
  • button or lever on the flush tank;
  • door handles and more.

By correctly choosing the components, it is possible to turn a small toilet into a stylish bathroom that looks much more spacious.

However, there are also the opposite situations: what to do if the toilet room is too large? The best way out is to purchase a functional and stylish toilet room designed specifically for such premises. These are tall cabinets for detergents, cabinets for toiletries or shelves for fragrances - the choice depends on the preferences of the apartment owners.

    Completing the creation of the image of the toilet, you should be especially careful when choosing fittings and accessories:
  • beautiful heated towel rails;
  • stylish soap dish;
  • comfortable stand for toothbrushes;
  • functional toilet dispenser;
  • nice brush complete with stand, etc.

Of course, the furniture should be in harmony with the overall style of the room.

Lighting

The right lighting in the toilet can transform a room and present its design in a winning color. At the same time, mistakes in lighting will negate any creative with a toilet, so you should adhere to the basic rules in the lighting design of a bathroom.

As in the living room, adequate lighting in the bathroom will provide a comfortable feeling, while dim light will create an overwhelming atmosphere.

    When placing lamps, take into account the dimensions of the room, the decoration used and the design elements.
  • Small bathrooms require brighter lighting to avoid a depressing experience.
  • Subdued lighting is suitable for large toilets in new buildings.

In addition to the standard lamp, large sconces on the walls or spotlights on the ceiling or floor look good in the toilet.

Design nuances depending on size

The repair plan depends on the size of the toilet in the apartment. Consider ideas for renovating a small toilet.

Toilet design 1.5 m2

Sometimes when using simple items without special efforts it is possible to arrange a unique and original design solution for the toilet decor. To create a cozy and beautiful bathroom in a small room, you do not need to overload the space with different vases, panels and souvenirs.

In recent years, ceramic tiles, marble and granite slabs have been the main finishing materials. The interior of a small toilet can be visually expanded with finishing materials, combining colors and positioning of tiles to enhance the effect. It is equally important to find the right compact or suspended plumbing fixtures.

Toilet design 2 m2

The main goal of a designer's work in rooms with limited space is to use it as efficiently as possible. The best option for installing a toilet is a suspended structure with a built-in wall or protruding cistern. This will significantly reduce the volume occupied by the plumbing.

A room with such an area can also accommodate a compact washbasin. For this, both corner and hanging sinks are suitable, next to which are placed hooks for hanging towels and a small mirror that can visually add extra volume to a limited space.

Glossy tiles and light liquid wallpaper for the toilet are suitable for wall decoration. When choosing a completely white material, it should be diluted with bright elements, without which modern design a toilet of a small size will come out faded and impersonal.

Large toilet design

They strive to give a large bathroom the most attractive and modern look, combining practicality, convenience, comfort and durability.

The combined bathroom can accommodate not one bath, but also, and a washing machine will harmoniously fit into the interior of the toilet. The equipment is located separately from cabinets, superstructures and pedestals, under the sink, or a built-in version is implemented. The design of the bathroom and toilet is harmoniously complemented by various decoration elements - plates with patterns, vases, photo frames, etc.

Individual people are strained by the large space of the bathroom. In such cases, it is recommended to choose dark colors of finishes that can visually narrow the space. Empty spaces are filled with wardrobes and bedside tables.

Toilet with sink

Similar design solutions suitable only for small bathrooms. It is impossible to place a sufficient number of accessories and furniture there. But all the necessary components are present - a toilet with a sink, a mirror, small shelves for storing small items and towel holders.

Combined bathroom

One of the most common options. When combining a toilet and a bathroom, the only goal is to use the available space as much as possible. Such solutions have various advantages and disadvantages, the main of which is the human factor, when the combined bathroom is located in an apartment with a large number of people living.

It would seem that there could be more boring toilet. The room is small, you can't pick up a special decor for it. However, modern designers fundamentally disagree with such statements. This material contains 15 options for the design of the toilet room, which you simply cannot help but like.

1. Decorative plates

Agree, plates are the last thing you expect to see in the interior of a toilet. However, it is on such unexpected details that unique spaces are built. A striking example of this is this bathroom in soothing colors with many decorative plates hung over the toilet.

2. Mosaic

The highlight of this snow-white toilet is the mosaic of small bright tiles that adorn the part of the wall behind the toilet. It is worth noting that such a project can be implemented by every owner of a one-color bathroom in order to transform it literally over the weekend.

3. World map

If you have traveled half the world or are just dreaming about it, this design is for you! And all because the walls of this toilet are pasted over with a photo wallpaper depicting a map of the world. Who knows, perhaps it is in this "corner of thoughtfulness" that the realization of where you want to be will come to you.

4. Patchwork

Has it ever happened in your life that when you finish decorating a room, you realize that you just a little lack the material, and the store no longer has the shade you need? Surely, something similar happened to the one who invented the patchwork direction. Perhaps this prompted the idea to use materials of different colors and shapes. Looking at the tiles that adorn the walls of this bathroom, we can make sure that despite different colours and prints, the interior looks bright, dynamic and quite harmonious.

5. Newspapers

There is always something to read in this toilet, because its walls are decorated with photomurals with real newspaper spreads. Another unusual detail of this space is the rough wooden box filled with rolls of toilet paper. According to the site, this is the very case when a practical detail has become an interior decoration.

6. Alternative materials

Who said that the walls of the toilet must be lined with ceramic tiles. Before the readers, the site is an excellent example of the use of decorative gypsum bricks for decorating the walls of a bathroom. A design in this style looks laconic, stylish and a little brutal.

7. Garden of Eden

Looking at the interior of this bathroom, one does not dare to call it a toilet or a toilet as the room looks more like a Garden of Eden. The main mood of this space is set by the decoration: wall murals depicting a magical landscape, which smoothly pass from the walls to the ceiling, and marble tiles on the floor. The finishing touches are gold-tone fittings, a mirror in an elegant frame and a modern toilet.

Interesting fact: sanitary fixture, which we call the toilet, has a rich and sufficient interesting story, during which its appearance changed dramatically. For the first time something similar to a toilet appeared in China in the 1st century BC. In 1596 Sir John Harington invented a toilet with a cistern for the Queen of England, calling it "Ajax". The most active toilet seat metamorphosis began in 1777 and continues to this day.

8. Perspective

Those who feel discomfort in small confined spaces should take a closer look at the photo wallpaper with perspective. With their help, you can "erase" the walls and create the illusion of endless space.

9. Paintings

We are all used to seeing pictures in living rooms and hallways, but seeing pictures in the toilet is a rarity. But do not drive yourself into a strict framework of conventions and if you like the idea, feel free to decorate the walls of your bathroom with pictures and posters in a laconic framework. This decor will bring some dynamics to the interior of a small space.

10. Moldings

A tiny but very bright space created with decorative moldings painted in acid shades. The interior of this bathroom is a vivid example of how to transform a boring small room for a penny and without energy costs.

11. Eco-design

A fantastic restroom, the walls of which are decorated with evergreen phyto-panels with flowers, will definitely appeal to all lovers of wildlife, as well as those who dream of their own house, but have to live in a high-rise building.

12. Modern style

Most of the bathrooms in our country have the same type and rather boring design .. Moreover, making a small space interesting is not difficult. It is enough to create a contrasting accent wall, pick up an interesting conceptual idea for the floor or ceiling, add light and enjoy the result.

13. Pixels

Using contrasting tiles of the same shape is perhaps the easiest way to create original design without much difficulty. Just look at how beautiful the uneven transition of a dark hexagonal tile into a light one looks!

14. Classic style

Classic style in the interior, where you would never expect to see it. Agree, you rarely see a toilet stylized as a living room. Nevertheless, such a design has a place to be.

15. Painting

People who are not devoid of talent can independently make their bathroom unique. Arm yourself with paints, brushes, let your imagination run wild and paint inspiring stories on the walls.

Video bonus:

The bathroom can also be transformed beyond recognition. These

If the dressing room is small (hello "Khrushchev" and panel houses), this does not mean that it does not require unusual design findings. Quite the opposite - the interior design of a small toilet should be worked out in detail, taking into account the rest of the interior in the house or apartment and, of course, with the main functional purpose of this room. The correct interior of small toilets will visually increase the limited space.

Separate toilet interior ideas

In our understanding, the bathroom and toilet are one whole, even if they are separated by a wall. That is why on the tiny territory of the toilet the same finishing materials, the same colors, the same shapes, textures and techniques for decorating the plumbing and sewerage pipes should be used as in the adjacent bathroom. The interiors of the toilet and bathroom are twins, the separation of which can ruin the overall impression of the whole house.

Separate bathroom and toilet - photo example of rooms made in the same style:

To create a harmonious bathroom interior, you must:

  • replace old communications with new PVC pipes;
  • hide sewer risers under finishing materials and water pipes(for this one should use simple constructions from drywall, which can be easily disassembled in case of an emergency);
  • install new plumbing(if the toilet is suspended, then it can be fixed immediately - before the walls are finished, the floor model is installed on the new floor);
  • lay down flooring, tiles and then sheathe the walls and ceiling;

Small toilet - how to visually increase the space?

Having decided on the general concept of the toilet (and it should be combined with the style of the house and the bathroom in particular), you can start repairing.

Read on to learn how to create the illusion of free space in the immediate vicinity of the floor, walls, ceiling and doors.

I would like to talk about deep black, saturated blue, but, in our case, we will, of course, talk about light shades - about warm and cold pastels.

Delicate, as if washed out by water, pastel shades are especially good in the interiors of small washrooms.

Ultramarine, mint, lilac, turquoise and delicate rose will visually fill the interior of the toilet with coolness and emphasize the textured feature of each accessory in the room.

You can revive the pastel interior with the help of color accents, for example, a bright graphic panel or an intricate shape of a lamp on one of the walls.

Another well-known technique is soft contrast.

The only wish is that the interior of the toilet in pastel colors does not give off a cheap "scoop", do not lay square tiles in the toilet, but simply paint the walls in these colors. It will be smart and fresh, we promise!

If you want to make the interior of a flat and lifeless toilet brighter and more interesting, then in no case use tiles of the same color in the decoration of the toilet.

Remember, the smaller the space, the more daring the color combination should be.

Creation of accent areas. Cover almost the entire surface of the bathroom with pastel-colored tiles, and decorate the wall behind the toilet with a different, brighter color.

or like this ...

As for new trends in toilet design, today it is more than actual to decorate these rooms in a somewhat pretentious style, something like Rocco, Baroque or Renaissance.

For those who are frightened by the prospect of sitting in a bathroom with gold trim, we offer a photo of a toilet decorated in an eco-style - both original and modern.

Interested in the color of the toilet in Feng Shui? Then, for walls, plumbing and accessories, it is better to use soft, blue, white and green shades that go well with water elements.

One of the most risky and difficult design options for a small bathroom is a black and white toilet interior.

There can be no mistakes, since the line between despondency and luxury, longing and solemnity is too thin.

Of course the number white in a small washroom should exceed the amount of black. In this case, the option will look great in which the lower parts of the wall are lined with black tiles, and the ceiling, floor and upper parts of the wall remain light.

If you decide to paint the walls with a solid color washable paint, do not be lazy and decorate one of them with wall decorations: unusual drawings, photographs, simple murals or stickers.

Or so ...

What materials to use in the design of a tiny toilet?

As for the classic materials - ceramic tiles, plastic panels and multi-colored mosaics, so much has already been said and written about them ...

Yes, they are easy to clean, tolerate chlorine-based cleaning agents and do not absorb unpleasant odors.

Unlike wallpaper, which is too sensitive to moisture, tiles and panels practically do not get dirty and always look clean.

But really, in our high-tech age, there have not been any interesting innovations in the interior design of the toilet and bathroom? Toilets are not uniformly decorated with tiles!

There have appeared, and not one, not two, but hundreds of new ideas, but ceramic tiles (oh, you can't hide from it anywhere, even in the toilet!), As they say, "rules".

What is there to argue, competent design of tiles in the toilet is a win-win option, with which you can not only maintain perfect cleanliness in the bathroom, but also to almost double its area.

Don't believe me? Then try using a technique that is often used in the washroom. experienced designers- cover the toilet with tiles with a low-contrast imitation of textured material: fabric, sand, natural stone, etc., or use 3D panels.

What should be the shape and size of ceramic (tile) tiles in a small toilet?

For tiny toilets, small rectangular tiles are preferable. Well balanced, good option - a combination of walls covered with a small square tiles and a mosaic floor.

But tiles of a complex polygonal shape should not be used - such a design will visually reduce and crush an already modest area.

How to install tiles in the interior of a small toilet?

A method that will definitely not hide the volume of the room is joint to joint.

Toilet lighting

To turn a cramped typical toilet into a stylish and comfortable room, you can correctly organize the lighting. The light in a small toilet should not hit the eyes and be too bright, it is much better if the backlight is diffused and soft. An interesting effect is provided by waterproof spotlights and halogen lamps.

Which toilet is best for a small washroom?

By the method of installation, toilet bowls are:

  • suspended (save space in a small bathroom and facilitate cleaning);

  • outdoor (traditional);

  • built-in (they are elegant and save space);

  • with a closed eco-system (a sink is installed on top of the toilet bowl, the water from which is purified and enters the cistern).

You can optimize a small space in your washroom by placing a small cabinet with high legs behind the toilet. This solution will allow you to store intimate things in the toilet that you would like to keep right here.

A cistern with a sink - the perfect solution

A small toilet, irresponsible, usually looks depressing.
