Treatment of cystitis. The amount of fluid taken

The inflammatory process that occurs in the bladder with cystitis gives people a lot of uncomfortable sensations. To combat the unpleasant manifestations of the disease, the use of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic agents is shown. But there is another technique that can quickly improve the patient's condition and contribute to his speedy recovery. A properly organized drinking regimen is the key to successful treatment of patients with cystitis. The composition of the diet during the period of exacerbation of the process is no less important, so you also need to closely monitor it.

Basic principles of nutrition for cystitis

Experts identify several positive properties that an abundant drink, recommended for cystitis, has. First, the active flow of fluid into the bladder promotes flushing. As a result, pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins are removed from the affected cavity. Secondly, stagnation of urine is harmful for healthy person, and in the case of an inflamed mucous membrane, it can cause the infection to spread further and intensify symptoms. Finally, most of the drinks recommended for illness include medicinal substances that help improve the condition of the diseased organ.

It is important to remember that drinking alone with cystitis cannot achieve the desired results. If you consume a lot of fluids, but at the same time do not adhere to the basic rules of a specialized diet, the body, on the contrary, can be seriously damaged. There are not so many dietary requirements, they are easy to fulfill and their observance gives a quick effect.

The ban is also imposed on foods that are initially harmful to the body: fast food, sugar substitutes, canned food and deep-fried foods.

Drinking regime for acute cystitis

During the acute course of the disease, many people do not want to eat or drink. It is necessary to understand that it is with the help of drinking with cystitis of this type that the moment of onset of relief can be brought closer. The timely start of flushing the bladder in a natural way will not allow the walls to become too actively irritated by pathogens, which will reduce the risk of complications.

Here are the basic rules for organizing the drinking regime during this period:

To increase the effectiveness of a given drinking regimen, ingredients that have a diuretic effect must be added to the daily menu. The use of cucumbers, spinach, zucchini and carrots will not allow urine to linger in the diseased organ. The same properties are possessed by many beloved watermelons and melons, pomegranates and unsweetened grapes.

Features of the drinking regimen for chronic cystitis

The diagnosis of "chronic cystitis" requires a lot of adjustments to the usual diet. The principles of nutrition here are those that were described above. In some cases, doctors recommend adding a few more specific points due to the individual characteristics of the organism. Compliance with simple rules will not only reduce the severity of symptoms that may accompany the chronic course of the disease, but also reduce the risk of its exacerbation.

As for the drinking regimen, its features will be as follows:

  • The volume of consumed liquid should not be less than 2 liters. The exception is when patients have kidney problems. Here, the doctor should establish the optimal indicators. The emphasis is on berry fruit drinks, prepared without the use of sugar and its substitutes.
  • Vegetables and fruits or juices made from them should be consumed daily. The best ingredients for fighting chronic cystitis are pumpkin, watermelon, melon, asparagus, squash, parsley, cucumbers, pears, and unsweetened grapes.
  • Medicinal decoctions or herbal infusions should be drunk in courses, regardless of the frequency of exacerbations and even in their absence. The list of suitable drinks should be checked with your doctor.
  • The drinking regimen will not bring the desired result if the patient suffers from chronic constipation. This phenomenon will cause the body to be poisoned by its own toxins and constant irritation of the mucous membrane. To prevent this, the diet must be diversified with fiber and other cleansing products.
  • To increase the effectiveness of this approach, the diet should include olive oil... Practice shows that people who drink a tablespoon of the product a day are much less likely to experience relapses of pathology.

Sour fruits and berries for chronic cystitis cannot be used in their pure form for juicing. They can only be added to neutral drinks in minimal amounts. It is even better to use them only for the preparation of fruit drinks, so that the acid is destroyed as much as possible during the heat treatment.

What to drink if cystitis is complicated by kidney damage?

Particularly noteworthy are the properties of drinking with cystitis, which arose against the background of inflammation of the kidneys or caused this phenomenon. In the diet, in this case, the emphasis is again on light-salted dishes. The protein level on the menu should not be excessive, and the kidneys should not be overloaded. The characteristics of the drinking regime remain practically the same, but a few specific points are added.

Basic health drinks

At least 2 liters of liquid should be consumed per day. It's good if 3-5 glasses of them are presented with green tea without milk and sweeteners.

Every day you should drink at least a glass of juice made from the following ingredients in any proportions and combinations: watermelon, cucumber, melon, celery, strawberries, lingonberries, cranberries.

Juice therapy is carried out according to a certain scheme. On the first day, it is enough to drink just a couple of sips of the composition, this figure should be increased gradually, bringing it to 1 glass per day.

A good therapeutic effect is provided by a healing infusion, which is drunk in courses of 2-3 months and the same breaks. We take in equal proportions the leaves of birch, black currant and garden strawberries. We separate a tablespoon of the collection, fill it with a glass of boiling water, insist under the lid for 1 hour and filter. We drink the finished liquid in a third or half glass up to 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals.

Supplementary fortified drink

With cystitis complicated by pyelonephritis, important point is an increase in the body's defenses. Instead of doing this with synthetic drugs, it is better to use proven natural remedies, such as a drink made from sea buckthorn leaves and strawberries. To prepare it, you need to mix the main components in equal parts and take a tablespoon of the mass. The workpiece is poured with a glass of boiling water, kept for 30 minutes and filtered. It is necessary to drink 1 such glass 2 times a day before meals for 1-2 months.

A stable strengthening of the immune system is guaranteed by a drink made from the fruits of mountain ash, black currant, rose hips, sea buckthorn and strawberry leaves. Grind and mix all components in equal volumes to get 2 tablespoons of the mass. We put it in a thermos, pour 300 ml of boiling water and leave for at least 6 hours. Next, we filter the workpiece and drink 0.5 cups 2 times a day before breakfast and dinner for a month.

A few more recipes for healthy drinks

Traditional medicine knows many more recipes for medicinal compositions that can alleviate the course of cystitis in adults and children. Some of them can be drunk not only during an exacerbation of the disease, but also from time to time, as a preventive measure.

The table shows the most useful and effective drinks that should be consumed against the background of bladder inflammation:

Study: Women who drink a lot of water almost never get cystitis

Symptoms for acute uncomplicated cystitis such as urinary tract infection (UTI) include difficulty urinating, a feeling of fullness in the excretory system, excessive toilet trips, abdominal discomfort, and occasionally blood in the urine.

In the study, women who drank at least 1.5 liters of water per day experienced 48% fewer bladder infections than those who drank less fluid.

According to doctors, drinking enough fluids helps to reduce the bacterial background, significantly limiting the ability of pathogens to attach to the bladder. We are talking about other comorbidities associated with the genitourinary system, which are usually treated with antibiotics, but the above benefits reduce their use, which helps to control resistance to them.

why only a large amount of drunk liquid helps me from cystitis. what is the diagnosis for me?

Fast treatment of cystitis

The key to the effectiveness of treating cystitis at home is the right combination of ingredients. To quickly treat cystitis, you will need:

Anesthetic drug (best with anti-inflammatory properties)
Regular baking soda
Fresh cranberries, cranberry juice, or cranberry tablets
Any drink containing caffeine (regular coffee, energy drink, cola)
Fresh water and other liquids (citrus juices are best)
Hot water bottle or heating pad

When self-treatment of cystitis, it is very important to strictly follow the sequence of actions:

First, take some baking soda by dissolving it in a glass of clean water. Baking soda, an alkalizing agent, is most likely to help suppress the unpleasant burning sensation and cutting pain.
Take a pain reliever with a large amount of any liquid - it can be mineral water, fruit juice, liquid broth. Don't just be limited to water - you can end up drinking a lot more with a variety of liquids. The only exception is alcohol, which is not recommended to be consumed during the treatment of cystitis. If pain reliever needs to be taken with food, remember to eat.
Have a caffeinated drink. Caffeine is not the most useful substance, but in the treatment of cystitis it is necessary to speed up the passage of fluids - which, ultimately, speeds up the process of "flushing" the infection from the bladder
Observe bed rest, using a heating pad at all times - a heating pad or hot compress should be applied to the abdomen, this will help alleviate pain and burning sensation and reduce the frequency of the urge to urinate.
Drink a glass of liquid every fifteen minutes.
One hour after starting treatment, start drinking cranberry juice (the more, the better).
For the period of self-treatment of cystitis, it is better to refuse solid food and limit yourself to liquid food (for example, soups).
Continue this sequence of steps until your cystitis symptoms are relieved. Drink as much fluids as possible and empty your bladder completely as often as needed. It is very important to empty the bladder completely in order to speed up the process of "washing out" bacteria and prevent them from growing further. Increasing the amount of fluid you drink will dilute the urine and thereby reduce the burning sensation and pain when urinating.

To funds traditional medicine To help suppress the symptoms of cystitis, some include parsley, garlic and apple cider vinegar - during the period of treatment of cystitis, they can be added to the diet in any amount. You need to be careful with other herbal medicines - not all of them are combined with each other. This is especially true of bearberry - an effective agent against cystitis, destroying bacteria, but at the same time exerting additional stress on the liver.

Cystitis and lack of water in the body

In the cold season, there is traditionally an increase in queues to urologists. And this is no accident, since hypothermia leads to one of the most common diseases - cystitis. But hypothermia, contrary to popular belief, is not the only factor that causes cystitis.

Recently, American scientists from the University of California made interesting discovery... They found that it is the lack of water in the body that provokes the development of genitourinary infections, including cystitis. What is the reason for this?

The causative agents of cystitis are pathogenic microorganisms that multiply quite quickly, getting into the bladder. However, the ability of the bladder to empty regularly is a natural prevention of such infections. Indeed, along with the withdrawal of urine, bacteria are simultaneously washed out, which can provoke various diseases, including cystitis. Pathogenic microflora does not have time to settle on the walls of the bladder, which means that the disease does not develop.

Experts remind that the rate of fluid intake per day is 2-2.5 liters. Moreover, the main part of this volume is allocated precisely to pure water, and not to tea, coffee, juices, etc. Coffee itself has dehydration properties; tea, as a rule, contains a large amount of flavors, which also retains fluid in the body. And modern juices are actually a concentrate of preservatives, antioxidants and sugar. The first signal that the amount of fluid consumed by the body is not enough is the color of the urine - if it is saturated yellow color, and emptying of the bladder occurs less than four times a day, then your body does not receive enough water.

Prolonged urinary retention is also a concomitant cystitis factor. Long stagnation of fluid in the bladder leads to the fact that bacteria settle on its walls, and together with a lack of water, weakening of immunity and hypothermia, they begin to actively multiply and provoke disease.

Remember, cystitis is only a seemingly harmless disease. And of course, disease is better prevented than cured. But if it so happened that the ailment was caught by surprise, in no case should you ignore it: competent therapy, a diet, drinking regimen will help you quickly forget about the problem.

Frequent urge: why women suffer from cystitis more often than men?

Reasons for the formation of cystitis

Cystitis is an inflammatory disease of the bladder. It is triggered by an infection and occurs much more often in the summer. This can be due to wet swimsuits, dehydration, unprotected sex, and even air conditioners.

It is noteworthy that in women this problem occurs much more often than in the stronger sex. This is due to the anatomical features. The fact is that in women, the urethra is shorter and wider than in men, which creates a more favorable environment for the penetration of pathogens. Also, the female urethra is located in women closer to the anal canal, which increases the risk of the formation of an infectious and inflammatory process. The causative agent is Escherichia coli (Escherichia coli), which is normally found in the rectum.

Imagine a situation that occurs very often in the summer. You come to the resort, the beach or just spend the weekend by the river. Today everything was fine, but the next day you may feel the first signs of cystitis. The reason for this is a wet swimsuit, which is a collection of harmful bacteria that can enter the genitourinary system and cause inflammatory process... Therefore, the advice of doctors about changing linen after bathing is not unreasonable. This requirement should be observed so that a wet swimsuit does not provoke hypothermia of the pelvic organs, reducing the level of local immunity, does not cause the activation of pathogenic bacteria and does not lead to cystitis. Women with a chronic form are most susceptible to this risk: any hypothermia leads to such a problem.

Often, cystitis also occurs due to an insufficient amount of fluid in the body. If you drink little pure drinking water, then you yourself harm yourself: there will be a stronger concentration of urine in the bladder. This leads to increased growth of microorganisms.

Other causes of stagnation include sedentary lifestyles and sedentary work. And the last factor that contributes to the development of cystitis, doctors begin unprotected sex, and the partner may not always suffer from genital infections. In this case, the exchange of microflora is still carried out, and sometimes pathogenic. It is for this reason that cystitis can be extremely difficult to treat. The first signs usually appear within twelve hours.

Cystitis symptoms

The very first and sure sign of cystitis is a frequent urge to urinate. Moreover, urine may not always be excreted well.

Second, there is a burning sensation and itching in the urethra (that is, the urethra) during urination.

Thirdly, with cystitis, painful sensations and discomfort occur in the lower abdomen, pelvis, and genitals.

Often, the urine may be cloudy and sometimes bloody. In this case, a person's general health worsens, and pain in the lower back occurs. It is noteworthy that in children and the elderly, the symptoms of cystitis may not be so severe. But most often, such people tend to tolerate and remain silent about the symptoms, so the disease may not be detected so quickly.

Sometimes, the only signs of this condition may be fever, nausea, and abdominal pain. In addition, irritation of the external opening of the urethra can often be added to the symptoms of cystitis. For example, some men and women are allergic to vaginal deodorants, perfume soap or talcum powder, even colored toilet paper.

Cystitis treatment

With these symptoms, you should not wait until everything goes away by itself. Be sure to visit a doctor who will help identify the cause of the formation of cystitis, and also prescribe a competent treatment.

In this case, the attending physician is a urologist (for men) and a gynecologist (for women). With acute cystitis and the volume that formed for the first time, if all recommendations are followed, the disease can be cured in just 7-12 days. In order for this to work, it is necessary to select competent antibacterial drugs and other medications. Before this, the patient undergoes the following tests: urinalysis, urine culture for microflora, ultrasound.

In acute cystitis, the doctor usually prescribes bed rest and a special diet. The following foods are excluded from the diet:

  • Salty dishes;
  • Smoked dishes;
  • Limit the amount of meat consumed;
  • Canned food;
  • Alcoholic drinks.

It is worth saying that recovery directly depends on a person's attitude to their disease. The patient must take care of himself in order to be cured and in the future to save himself from the risk of re-infection.

Drink plenty of fluids

You need to drink at least 10-14 glasses of drinking water per day. Try to avoid drinking tea, absolutely exclude coffee and alcohol from the diet, as they retain fluids, provoke swelling, and irritation of the bladder.

There should be fewer foods and foods that contain calcium in your diet. This is required during treatment. These products include milk, cheeses, yoghurts.

To relieve pain, place a heating pad between your legs, on your stomach, or on your back. If there is no special item, then you can take a bottle of warm water or a bag of heated millet (salt).

Drink baking soda water

Water and baking soda can reduce the acidity of your urine and relieve you of the unpleasant burning sensation. It is necessary to drink a glass of water every three hours, in which a spoonful of soda is dissolved.

Wash once a day

When an infection gets in, it is important to prevent it from multiplying. Taking a shower, flushing the urinary organs, you can help yourself. It is generally recommended that women do this every time they urinate - first from the front, then from the back. This will eliminate the risk of pathogens entering the anus into the urethra.

What to drink with cystitis and how much?

Nutrition and fluid intake for cystitis is central to treatment as food and water relieve symptoms and also speed up the healing process. It is difficult to confuse inflammation of the bladder, cystitis, with another disease. It is easy to recognize due to its characteristic symptoms - burning sensation in the lower abdomen, frequent and painful urge to urinate. As soon as these signs appear, you immediately need to go on a diet. The main rule of this diet is not what you need to eat, but how much to drink.

How much liquid should you drink for cystitis?

The question is very relevant to the fairer sex, since women have cystitis much more often. Your drinking regime is extremely important. Abundant fluid intake is beneficial for pathology. You need to get used to the fact that during the treatment you will have to drink up to 3 liters of water, and without taking into account the liquid with which tablets and soups, broths eaten per day are taken. Drinking such an abundance of water is not so difficult - every 10 minutes take a couple of sips of plain or mineral water. It is useful to add a little mint to the mineral water. This herb has a calming and anti-inflammatory effect to relieve discomfort.

People with heart or kidney failure should not drink a lot of fluids to avoid swelling. For such patients with cystitis, it is recommended to drink about 1 liter.

Drinks to help treat cystitis

Plain, filtered water

The walls of the bladder with cystitis become inflamed due to infections and bacteria, and urine can wash away pathogenic organisms, which is why it is recommended to drink a lot of water with cystitis. Removing bacteria will prevent the disease from spreading further, and harmful microbes will not be able to gain a foothold in the body. The water itself acts as a diuretic, but adding a mint leaf to the glass makes the water much healthier. Peppermint has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects, which can help relieve symptoms and speed up recovery.

Juices and fruit drinks

Cranberries and lingonberries are ardent fighters against germs and bacteria. Therefore, cranberry and lingonberry fruit drinks were actively used to treat and treat cystitis. Such a drink not only flushes out pathogenic bacteria, but also creates an environment in which new bacteria cannot gain a foothold on the walls of the organ. Berries are rich in organic acids, vitamins that will help relieve inflammation. You can buy cranberry or lingonberry juice in the store, but it is more useful to cook homemade. For this you need:

  1. Take 2 cups of each berry, 2 liters of boiled water.
  2. Mash the berries and pass it through cheesecloth so that the juice remains.
  3. Pour the juice into a bowl, sweeten with sugar and dilute with water.
  4. Put the liquid on fire and boil.
  5. It remains to cool and the fruit drink is ready for use.
    Content:
  1. Drinking regimen for cystitis
  2. Recommended and prohibited liquids for cystitis
    1. Drinking water
    2. Mineral water
    3. Tea and coffee
    4. Carbonated drinks

Inflammation of the bladder is provoked by pathogenic microorganisms: microbes, bacteria, viruses and fungi. Drinking plenty of fluids is required to flush out the pathogenic microflora and normalize urination (dysuric disorders, a characteristic symptom of the disease). Urological guidelines focus on the minimum amount of fluid the body needs to cope with an infection.

With cystitis, you need to drink water: regular and mineral (still), natural non-acidic juices, herbal or urological teas. There are limitations and contraindications.

During the initial consultation, the urologist will give recommendations on changing the diet, lifestyle. The habitual regime of a person is subjected to adjustments. Introduced abundant drinking for cystitis is extremely necessary and significantly affects the course of the disease:

  • Pathogenic microorganisms produce a large amount of their metabolic products. These are strong toxins that poison the body and cause symptoms of general intoxication.
    Drinking plenty of fluids with cystitis is useful because hazardous substances are washed out of the genitourinary system. With a decrease in the volume of toxins that accumulate and enter the bloodstream, the symptoms of poisoning the body with the products of the vital activity of bacteria decrease.
  • Accelerated reproduction pathogenic microflora contributes to the violation of the outflow of urine. With regular urination, pathogens are flushed out of the body, which promotes faster recovery.
  • Water is an essential element for the regeneration of cells damaged by inflammation. A large amount of fluid in cystitis plays an important role in rehabilitation.

Approximately ⅔ of the drinking regime should consist of clean water. The amount of total fluid in acute or chronic cystitis is increased to 2.5-3 liters. per day. In addition to drinking and mineral water, the daily diet includes decoctions, freshly squeezed juices. In acute cystitis, urological preparations, cranberry and lingonberry fruit drinks, chamomile and rosehip teas are useful.

Compliance with the drinking regime for inflammation of the bladder: an important condition for recovery. With cystitis, you need to drink plenty of water and other drinks. Various urological diuretic preparations, lingonberry and cranberry fruit drinks are welcome. There are limitations.

With cystitis, you should not drink the following types of liquids:

  • irritating mucous membranes;
  • increasing the acidity of urine;
  • high in sugar.
  • pH neutral or alkalizing urine;
  • replenishing the lack of nutrients, the body's need for water.

Compliance with the drinking regime accelerates recovery and contributes to the effectiveness of drug therapy.

Drinking water

Water is the basis of the drinking regime for acute and chronic cystitis. Drinking water should be about ⅔ of the total. For most patients, the recommended amount of fluid consumed is 2-2.5 liters.

Those who have serious kidney pathologies (pyelonephritis, acute failure) need an individual consultation with a urologist to determine the optimal amount of drinking water. Due to the large amount of impurities, ordinary tap water is suitable only after being purified by filtration.

Mineral water

Used in medicinal purposes with recurrent cystitis and during the prevention of the disease. It is used in spa treatment, as well as at home.

Mineral hydrocarbonate water for cystitis is effective due to the presence of active ingredients and nutrients in the chemical composition. Medicinal use leads to the following beneficial effects:

  • improves urination;
  • urine alkalizes;
  • pathogenic microflora is washed out;
  • calcifications break down.

Alkaline mineral water is used for therapy: Essentuki, Borjomi, Narzan. With an exacerbation, it is permissible to drink no more than 2 liters. liquids per day. Drinking regime of mineral water:

  • Reception is divided into 5-6 servings, 250 ml each.
  • Drink water 1 hour before each meal and 2 hours after meals.
  • The minimum course duration is 1 month.

So that mineral water does not deteriorate during transportation and can be stored for a long time, it is carbonated. Carbon dioxide is a traditionally used preservative. Before use, you should release the gas from the bottle, leaving the container open for several hours.

Natural and packaged juices

When using juices, adhere to the following recommendations:

  • During an exacerbation, freshly squeezed juices are useful. Packaged drinks (especially cheap ones) should be discarded. The latter contain a large amount of preservatives, as well as sugar (or a substitute). The nutritional value of packaged juices is much less than that of a freshly squeezed counterpart.
  • The inflammation leads to irritation of the bladder mucosa. Sour drinking is excluded so as not to aggravate the health condition and cause ulceration. During an exacerbation, you can drink fruit: pear, apple, strawberry; or any vegetable juices (with the exception of tomato).

In the fight against chronic cystitis, they use: pumpkin, watermelon, cucumbers, pears, unsweetened grapes. Juice from the listed fruits and vegetables should be consumed daily.

Tea and coffee

Urologists agree that caffeine damages the mucous membrane by irritating it. Milk and sugar are added to drinks, which also negatively affects the bladder. Tea and strong coffee contribute to dehydration, which is considered another negative property. Regular consumption of caffeinated beverages weakens the effect of drug therapy.

If you can't give up tea and coffee, you should keep their consumption to a minimum. Patients during an exacerbation are advised to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • Strong tea and coffee are unacceptable - a large amount of an invigorating drink aggravates the pain syndrome, irritating the mucous membrane. To minimise negative impact on the bladder, you need to add a little milk to the cup. It is worth drinking exclusively natural coffee, without sugar, no more than 2 servings a day.
  • It is better to replace classic tea with herbal and urological preparations, decoction of rosehip and chamomile. Observe the restrictions during the period of exacerbation and rehabilitation.

In 1 l. instant coffee contains up to 650 mg of caffeine. The drink provokes the formation of stones in the urinary system and gallbladder, impairs blood flow to the pelvic area, and causes anxiety and insomnia. If natural coffee with minor reservations can be consumed immediately after the acute period of cystitis has passed, then it is better to completely abandon the instant coffee.

Why is watermelon useful for cystitis?

Watermelon is one of the most beneficial foods for the urinary system, so it is often recommended to eat it for various urological disorders. By consuming watermelon for cystitis, you will be able to help your body cope with the disease faster and improve your well-being in a short time.

Beneficial features

In case of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system, it is important to take diuretics, which increase urine output and promote the process of removing pathogenic bacteria from the urinary organs.

Watermelon is on the list of the best natural diuretics, because its pulp contains up to 90% liquid. The moisture received by the body during the assimilation of this product gently flushes the bladder mucosa without causing irritation.

The use of watermelon fruits for cystitis allows you to eliminate the frequent urge to urinate, reduce pain, burning sensation in the urethra and other symptoms of inflammation.

This is facilitated not only by elevated level liquid in watermelon, but also magnesium contained in the product, which has antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties. Ascorbic acid, which is part of the melons, effectively strengthens the immune system and helps fight infection.

Pectin, present in large quantities in the fibers of watermelon, removes harmful substances from the body that are formed during the life of bacteria that cause cystitis. It also helps to reduce the negative effects on the intestines of antibiotics used to treat the disease, restores beneficial microflora and accelerates the regeneration of the bladder mucosa.

Is it possible with cystitis

It is necessary to consider under what forms of pathology watermelon can be consumed.

In case of acute inflammation of the bladder, urologists recommend eating 1.5-2 kg of watermelon pulp per day, dividing the total daily portion into 5-6 parts. The product should be introduced into the diet gradually, starting from 200 g per day. You should not eat more than 2 kg of watermelon per day, as this increases the burden on the kidneys and can lead to the development of complications. In order for the watermelon diet to bring maximum benefit, the product must be present in the patient's menu for at least 7 days.

You can not eat a treat after salty food: watermelon will cause salt retention in tissues and provoke the appearance of edema. It is not recommended to combine melons and gourds with other food. It is best to consume the fruit as a separate dish between breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chronic

Regular consumption of watermelon for chronic cystitis helps reduce the risk of recurrence and increases the duration of remission. To prevent an exacerbation of the disease, you can eat up to 1.5 kg of watermelon pulp per day.

You should not feast on the fruit in the evening: this will lead to sleep disturbance and force the urinary system to work in an enhanced mode.

At night, the urinary organs must rest, so you need to consume watermelon no later than 3 hours before bedtime.

To speed up the recovery from cystitis, you can not only eat watermelon pulp in large quantities, but also prepare medicines based on this product.

Such a natural diuretic enhances the effect of drug therapy and can be used for cystitis as an adjunct treatment.

Contraindications

Before using watermelons for cystitis, you should make sure that there are no contraindications. The fruit should not be eaten in the presence of the following health abnormalities:

  • diarrhea;
  • colitis;
  • BPH;
  • violation of the outflow of urine with pyelonephritis;
  • stagnation of fluid in tissues with diseases of the cardiovascular system;
  • urolithiasis, accompanied by the formation of calculi with a diameter of more than 4 mm;
  • acute pancreatitis, cholecystitis;
  • allergic reaction.

The benefits of watermelon for cystitis

Watermelon with cystitis can be consumed at different stages of the disease: during exacerbations, during therapy, after the end of treatment. The benefit of this product for patients with inflammation of the bladder lies in the large amount of fluid, vitamins and minerals. Treatment with watermelon is safer than using antibiotics and other medications.

Beneficial features

This fruit contains a lot of water, which helps in the treatment of disease. In addition, it contains folic and fruit acids, carotene, zinc, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and iron.

This berry prevents the formation of stones in the organs of the genitourinary system. It has a watermelon and a diuretic effect due to the large amount of potassium in the product. It promotes the elimination of decay products, pathogenic microorganisms that cause inflammation of E-Coli bacteria, and various harmful substances from the body.

The sweet fruit helps to eliminate "bad" cholesterol, boosts immunity.

With cystitis, urologists recommend using sweet berries as a medicine. A contraindication is the presence of certain diseases. If, in addition to inflammation of the bladder, a person has no diseases, the watermelon will be useful for him in any form of this pathology.

A healthy fruit has fewer contraindications than pharmacy products... It is safer, has no dangerous side effects.

In case of acute inflammation, you should eat up to 2 kg of watermelon pulp per day. It is necessary to introduce the product into the menu gradually, starting from 200 g per day. This natural medicine should not be overused. When you consume more than 2 kg of watermelon per day, a large load on the kidneys is created, which can lead to the onset of diseases of these organs.

For the treatment to be effective, you should eat this sweet berry for at least 7 days in a row.

The last time you eat a healthy fruit should be no later than 3 hours before bedtime. At night, the excretory system is restored. If you consume a large amount of watermelon late in the evening, the frequent urge to urinate will prevent the organs from recovering and the patient to rest.

Chronic

In chronic cystitis, regular consumption of watermelon reduces the likelihood of an exacerbation. The sweet berry increases the duration of the periods of remission.

To achieve the desired effect, this natural medicine should be taken 1.5 kg per day. You should not eat this product before bedtime, so as not to overstrain the organs of the excretory system. The last time this fruit is allowed to be eaten is 3 hours before bedtime.

Use as a medicine

A natural diuretic can be made based on the watermelon peel. Pharmacy diuretics have a large number of contraindications and side effects, so eating watermelon is preferable for the patient.

To make a useful medicine, you need ½ liter of boiling water, 2 tbsp. l. dried and chopped watermelon rind.

It is necessary to pour boiling water over the crusts, wrap the used container with a blanket and let the raw materials brew for 2-3 hours.

Take this drug in half a glass 3 times a day half an hour before meals.

Contraindications

Watermelon should not be added to food for certain diseases of the genitourinary system. You should not eat this berry with pyelonephritis if the outflow of urine is disturbed. You will also have to refrain from eating a sweet product with urolithiasis.

A contraindication may be the presence of pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract. You should not eat watermelons for pancreatitis and cholecystitis. They should be abandoned for diarrhea, colitis and gastrointestinal disorders.

You cannot eat this fruit even with diabetes mellitus, since the pulp contains a large amount of fructose.

You also need to refrain from diseases that cause fluid retention in the body. You should not use watermelon for some pathologies of the cardiovascular system.

Another contraindication is an allergy to sweet berries.

Watermelon for cystitis, beneficial properties. with cystitis, do I need to drink a lot of water

Use as a medicine

Since watermelon has a diuretic effect on the body, it is able to flush out pathogenic bacteria that cause bladder inflammation.

Rules for the use of watermelon pulp as a medicine:

  • the berry must be ripe, without signs of spoilage;
  • the daily therapeutic dose of the product is 400-1000 g;
  • watermelon must be eaten separately from other foods, the interval between meals and the use of berries should be 1.5-2 hours.

When drawing up a dietary menu that includes watermelons, a consultation with a urologist is required.

How to use watermelon for cystitis

Everyone knows that eating watermelon is more about drinking liquids than being saturated with substances in a solid state. It would seem that from such a product one can expect the formation of edema and the appearance of problems with the excretory and cardiovascular systems.

However, watermelon is a "prudent" berry. Few fruits combine two properties so well - an abundance of liquid with useful substances and a well-pronounced diuretic effect.

Eating a watermelon at night is undesirable. Usually, such prohibitions are associated with the risk of waking up in the morning with swelling on the face and legs. Another problem with watermelon is that you will run to the toilet and back all night. As a result, there will be no edema, but there will be a feeling of weakness from a sleepless night.

Drinking watermelon for cystitis is not only possible, but also highly desirable.

Regular eating of the fruits of this plant is recommended to combat edema of various origins, with stones in the gallbladder, kidneys, and bladder.

Another remarkable property of this fruit is its anti-inflammatory effect, which, combined with a diuretic effect, is excellent for the treatment of cystitis.

If you develop cystitis, watermelon should not be food, but medicine. It should be consumed at least 3 times a day between meals.

This is necessary so that other food does not interfere with the full manifestation of all the beneficial properties of the fruit. The optimal interval between meals is at least 2 hours.

There is one more time limitation: treatment with watermelon should be stopped 2 or 3 hours before bedtime.

Despite the strong diuretic properties, you can eat watermelon for cystitis. At the first symptoms of the disease, urologists recommend increasing the amount of fluid that is consumed per day. Watermelon as a berry with a high water content in the composition is suitable for solving this problem.

The task of the fluid with cystitis is to constantly remove the sediment of salts and infectious agents from the bladder.

The process of entering and excreting urine through the bladder and kidneys should be repeated as often as possible, throughout the entire disease.

  • It is undesirable to eat watermelon 2 hours before bedtime. It is not necessary to provoke frequent urination at night, this will weaken the immune system.
  • It is advisable to divide the use of this berry into six doses, with equal intervals of time between them, this will give a constant load on the kidneys and ensure the lavage of the diseased organ.
  • It is not recommended to eat a large amount of fruit at one meal, this will increase the load on the inflamed bladder.
  • To improve the effect and variety, you can eat a melon and watermelon salad, or replace one meal with melons.
  • V winter period for the prevention of cystitis, you can drink tea from dried watermelon peels.

Contraindications

The harm is caused not by the watermelon itself and its fiber, but by nitrates, which are easily absorbed by the pulp during the period of unfair cultivation. In order for these berries to quickly acquire a marketable appearance and gain weight, they are fed with nitrogen fertilizers.

Contraindications to the medicinal consumption of watermelons:

  • congenital anomalies of the genitourinary system with disorders of the outflow of urine;
  • prostate adenoma;
  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • the presence of adhesions after surgery during the treatment of diseases of the urinary system;
  • pyelonephritis;
  • urolithiasis disease;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • colitis;
  • diarrhea;
  • ascites;
  • allergic reactions.

During pregnancy, watermelon pulp can be included in the diet, but its consumption should not exceed 300 g per day in the first trimester and 200 g in the second and third trimesters.

With care, the berry is introduced into food for pancreatitis, diabetes mellitus, prostatitis.

Despite the great benefits of watermelon, there are conditions in which it should not be included in the menu of those who suffer:

  • urolithiasis disease;
  • BPH;
  • diabetes;
  • diseases of the pancreas;
  • heart failure;
  • ascites;
  • acute urinary retention;
  • colitis;
  • diarrhea;
  • allergic reactions.

Drinking antibacterial drugs is possible only after bacteriological examination of urine and determination of the sensitivity of the causative agent of cystitis.

What diet is needed for cystitis

The main condition and integral part of the successful treatment of cystitis was and remains adherence to a special diet. When faced with a disease, a person must revise his previous menu, regardless of whether an acute or chronic form of the disease occurs.

What and how much to drink

A sufficient amount of fluid consumed daily has a beneficial effect on the positive dynamics of the treatment of acute and chronic cystitis.

What is the optimal volume of fluid? Studies show that the daily intake of water, compotes and teas should be more than two liters. In the presence of an elevated temperature, the volume of the liquid increases by another 0.5 liters.

This mode of drinking fluids allows you to quickly get rid of pathogens in the bladder, reduces the irritating effect on its walls.

However, not all drinks are healthy. It is necessary to refuse:

  • alcohol (including wine and beer),
  • carbonated artificial drinks,
  • power engineers,
  • coffee,
  • strong tea.

Do not use:

All liquids should contain a minimum amount of sugar and sweeteners, caffeine, salt and other irritants.

It will be useful to use alkaline chloride-calcium medicinal-table mineral waters without gas, dried fruit compotes (without smoked ingredients). Berry and fruit fruit drinks do not always have a beneficial effect.

With cystitis, the diet should be soft, rich in healthy foods, especially vegetables and fruits, and strictly exclude alcohol. Inflammation of the bladder is accompanied by very painful sensations, and urologists recommend not to irritate it even more with the use of salty, spicy, etc.

A varied healthy diet

Cystitis is distinguished between primary and secondary, acute and chronic, infectious and non-infectious. In women, the acute form of the disease is more common, which is characterized by cuts in the lower abdomen and an increase in body temperature. If the disease is not prevented and treated in time, it can develop into a chronic stage.

To prevent this from happening, it is important to follow the correct diet. First of all, it is necessary to remove from the menu or reduce to a minimum the use of following products: alcohol, coffee, strong tea with sugar, ketchup, mayonnaise, vinegar, citrus fruits, tomatoes, sweets, fast food and many others.

Nutrition for cystitis should be balanced and consist mainly of food rich in vitamins:

  • fresh bread without homemade additives or diet bread;
  • cooked or baked meat;
  • drinking still water in large quantities - at least one and a half liters should be drunk per day. This promotes the elimination of harmful bacteria from the bladder.

In addition, special diuretics that are easy to prepare at home will be helpful. For example, this: three times a day, drink one cup of cucumber juice, diluted with a teaspoon of honey and a tablespoon of lemon juice.

Infusion of blue cornflower: pour a teaspoon of dried flowers with a glass of boiling water, leave for an hour and strain. Take the infusion three times a day, 15 minutes before meals, two tablespoons.

You can also mix liquid barley porridge with whey in half in a glass and pour lemon juice into it, drink the mixture twice a day.

Watermelon with cystitis

This disease among urologists is considered female, because the fairer sex is exposed to it 5 times more than men. Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bladder, called cystitis, significantly impairs the quality of life of patients. His treatment must be comprehensive. It is based on diet. Can it include watermelons? Will the berry harm the well-being during the inflammatory process? Let's figure out the issue.

Composition and useful properties of watermelon

It has long been no secret that watermelon therapy during the season is a means of washing the kidneys, and therefore, the prevention of diseases of the genitourinary system. Today's food products are often questioned in terms of naturalness. And synthetic additives often settle in the kidneys, like other harmful substances. If a person is dismissive of his health, consumes little liquid, then it is quite likely that substances in the kidneys will accumulate, which eventually turn into stones.

The well-known watermelon can resist this. The largest berry available to everyone has long been famous for its cleansing properties. They are based on a diuretic effect. 100 grams of watermelon pulp contains 89 grams of water. It does not stay in the body, taking out excess fluid with it.

There is iron in the pulp of a watermelon - a substance that prevents the development of anemia. It also contains magnesium, which is necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous system, blood vessels, heart, and increasing stress resistance. Folic acid in the composition of watermelon is necessary for the healthy functioning of the digestive system and the brain. It improves hair growth.

Cystitis and berry

It is on the diuretic effect of watermelon that its benefits are based in the treatment of an ailment. In this case, it serves as an adjunct that accelerates the therapy. Urologists advise all patients with cystitis to double their fluid intake so that pathogens that cause the disease are more likely to be excreted in the urine.

And if this disease overtook the patient in the summer, during the watermelon season, then it is necessary to take advantage of the opportunity to accelerate therapy.

When it comes to the treatment of chronic cystitis, the berry should be used as an opportunity to prevent relapses, that is, exacerbations of the disease. The harmful microflora of the bladder will thus be flushed out.

As for the time of eating the berry, it is better to do this after meals, eating it in the form of a dessert. Taking into account the diuretic effect of such a product, it is better not to use it for dinner, otherwise, not only in the evening, but also at night you will have to go to the toilet.

Useful foods for cystitis

The disadvantage of watermelon therapy is that it is a seasonal berry. And the disease develops more often in the autumn-winter, cold period. Therefore, those products that are the basis of a diet for an illness help in treatment year-round. They should be low in protein.

You can eat fresh vegetables, non-acidic fruits, cereals, berries without restrictions. This is a great opportunity for natural vitamin therapy, because the above products are light, healthy, and rich in vitamins. It is recommended to add kefir, cottage cheese, fermented baked milk, cereal soups, honey, olive oil to the menu. Help in the treatment of inflammation of the urinary bladder fruit drinks from cranberries, lingonberries with bactericidal properties, freshly squeezed juices, green tea.

So, nutrition can provoke illness, or it can become an auxiliary component of therapy. Watermelon is one of those foods that can and should be used for cystitis.

Medicinal herbs for inflammation of the bladder are selected such that they have a diuretic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect. Properly used herbs will enhance the healing effect of drugs, eliminate bacteria and inflammation. Herbal preparations are easy to find in a pharmacy, but it is advisable to consult a doctor before using. The fact is that most plants are capable of causing allergies, some have contraindications and side effects. During the preparation of the broth, you must adhere to the dosage indicated in the instructions or by your doctor. Against inflammation, it is useful to drink decoctions of chamomile, lemon balm, oak bark or bearberry.

Mineral water

One of the useful types of liquid is slightly carbonated mineral water. Thanks to carbon dioxide and active ingredients, mineral water is widely used to treat inflammation of the bladder. It acts as a diuretic, flushes out pathogenic bacteria and breaks down bladder stones. It is better to give preference to slightly carbonated water. It is advisable to drink such water up to 6 times a day. The course of treatment takes a month. Then it's better to take a break.

Drinking water for cystitis is useful, but you can diversify the diet with other drinks. Among them:

Patients with urea inflammation will benefit from dried fruit compote.

  • fruit juices especially cherry, strawberry and multivitamin;
  • herbal teas;
  • berry fruit drinks;
  • dried fruit compotes, rosehip tea;
  • green tea, black tea is also possible, but lightly brewed and without sugar;
  • milk and dairy products.

Back to the table of contents

Despite the fact that juices are useful for inflammation of the bladder, citrus and tomato juices should be excluded, which can irritate the mucous membranes.

To avoid an exacerbation of the disease and an increase in uncomfortable sensations, it is better to refuse such a drink for the period of treatment:

  • alcohol, low alcohol drinks, even beer;
  • strongly brewed black tea and coffee;
  • highly carbonated mineral water, sweet soda, kvass;
  • juice from apples, grapes, peaches and banana.

Alcohol has a diuretic effect, but there is no need to talk about the benefits of this type of liquid. It does not have useful substances and vitamins, but only irritates the walls of the bladder. But with coffee, the situation is ambiguous. Doctors still cannot come to a consensus: is it possible or not. Therefore, you need to listen to your body - if after drinking a cup of coffee, the bladder reacts calmly, you can continue to drink the drink. But no more than 2 cups a day.

With an exacerbation of cystitis, the mucous membrane of the bladder becomes inflamed. Therefore, you need to follow a diet and drink plenty of fluids. What do they drink with cystitis? This is a fairly common question among women, because it is they who are most susceptible to an unpleasant ailment. Drinking a sufficient volume of fluid with cystitis helps to flush the urinary tract and eliminate harmful microorganisms that provoked an infectious disease. What to drink with cystitis, and what is prohibited?

A diet for bladder inflammation is aimed at preventing the progression of the inflammatory process and removing harmful bacteria from the body. Drinking plenty of fluids plays an important role in this process. It is the liquid that flushes all unnecessary substances and infectious agents out of the bladder. Therefore, it is recommended to drink at least 2-2.5 liters of liquid during the day.

Diet for cystitis involves the intake of the following types of fluids:

  • ordinary purified or boiled tap water;
  • mineral water;
  • some fruit and fresh vegetable juices;
  • diuretic herbal decoctions;
  • berry fruit drinks;
  • rosehip compotes and decoctions;
  • green or weakly brewed black tea.

Mineral hydrocarbonate water for kidney and bladder diseases is widely used for the treatment of adults and children, thanks to the therapeutic components in its composition - carbon dioxide and chemically active components. Such water has a good diuretic effect, alkalizes urine, flushes out harmful substances from the body and promotes the breakdown of stones in the bladder. Slightly carbonated mineral water ("Essentuki", "Borjomi", "Narzan") is permissible for consumption no more than 2 liters per day. Drinking water for cystitis is shown in 250 ml 5-6 times a day (drink 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after). Inflammation of the bladder requires long-term treatment with mineral waters, with a minimum duration of one month.

Various herbs in the form of teas and teas are available freely at any pharmacy. They should be taken in accordance with a certain dosage, therefore, it is recommended to consult a doctor before use to rule out the occurrence of side effects. Decoctions made from medicinal plants have antibacterial, diuretic and anti-inflammation effects. Their curative effect helps to favorably influence the infected bladder by suppressing the growth of bacteria and increasing the effect of drugs.

The most common medicinal plants used for the preparation of medicinal decoctions for cystitis: bearberry, chamomile, oak bark, St. John's wort, goldenrod. You can take them by preparing a decoction from a collection of herbs or each separately. medicinal plant by choosing the most pleasant and mild agent for the bladder.

Lingonberries and cranberries contain a huge amount of vitamins and organic acids that can eliminate harmful bacteria and eliminate the inflammatory process in the bladder. Fruit drinks from berries are very useful. You can buy them ready-made or cook them yourself at home. To prepare cranberry juice, you will need: fresh fruit berries - 2 glasses, 2 liters of boiled water. Crush the berries until puree, strain the juice through cheesecloth. Add a little sugar or honey to the juice, pour required amount water. Mix everything and bring to a boil. Cool and take the resulting healing drink throughout the day. The recipe for making lingonberry juice is identical to the cranberry one. You can cook fruit drinks not only from fresh, but also from frozen fruits - the healing properties are preserved when frozen.

With cystitis, you should prefer the use of such drinks:

  • Rosehip compote. Rosehip berries have a sufficient amount of vitamins, strengthen the immune system and give a good diuretic effect, which is important for cystitis.
  • Weakly brewed black and green tea (no added sugar).
  • Milk and lactic acid products (it is especially useful to drink whey and not sour kefir).
  • Fruit juices - pear, cherry, strawberry, multivitamin.
  • Vegetable juices - all but tomato juices are acceptable.

Back to the table of contents

There are many controversies regarding the question - is it possible to drink milk and lactic acid products with cystitis? With remission of the disease, you can eat all, without exception, dairy products. With a relapse of the disease, if lactic acid products do not bring discomfort and exacerbation of symptoms, then in moderation they can be consumed and even necessary. Prohibited drinks for inflammation of the bladder in women and men include the following:

  • Alcohol and all alcoholic drinks (including beer). Alcohol acts as a diuretic for cystitis, without having a positive effect, but provokes irritation of the smooth walls of the bladder.
  • Coffee and black tea. Coffee and tea act like alcohol, irritating the bladder wall. Because of this, in case of recurrence of cystitis, such a liquid is not recommended for use.
  • Highly carbonated mineral water, sweet carbonated drinks (cream soda, citro, cola) and bread kvass.
  • Apple, grape, peach, banana and all citrus juices.
  • Vegetable juice with the addition of tomatoes, pure tomato juice.

Great attention should be paid to dietary nutrition in inflammatory processes of the urinary tract. Diet is the first step to recovery. Drinking enough fluids helps to improve the functioning of the bladder and has a beneficial effect on the course of treatment. Therefore, it is worth strictly identifying for yourself what you can drink and what is prohibited. Then the treatment will become not a torment, but one pleasure.

Cystitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bladder, which is often accompanied by inflammation of the mucous membrane of the urethra (urethritis). The disease is characterized by painful and frequent urination, pain in the lower abdomen. The urine is cloudy and sometimes bloody. In severe cases, the temperature may rise and diffuse abdominal pains appear. Anti-inflammatory treatment is prescribed (antibiotics, uroseptics) and a prerequisite treatment is adherence to proper nutrition.

What diet is prescribed for cystitis? The main points of nutrition are the elimination of the irritating effect of substances on the mucous membrane of the urinary tract, sparing the mucous membrane and increased excretion of urine - the products consumed must have a diuretic effect. In order to increase urine output, it is also recommended to drink 2 liters of liquid per day. Rich vegetables are excluded from the diet essential oils, strong broths, spices and products with a high content of oxalic acid and its salts.

In acute cystitis, bed rest is prescribed and the doctor's prescriptions are prescribed.

The diet includes:

  • vegetables and fruits with a diuretic effect (watermelons, zucchini, cucumbers, pumpkin), decoctions of diuretic herbs (bear ears, knotweed, corn silk, diuretic collection);
  • fruit drinks and juices from lingonberry and cranberry, which have an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. Cranberry protocyanidins have antimicrobial effect;
  • the first days with severe intoxication (fever, chills, general malaise), it is advisable to give up protein foods (meat, dairy products) and switch to vegetarian food - mashed vegetables and fruits, baked apples, fruit and vegetable juices;
  • chloride-calcium water;
  • weak green tea without sugar;
  • lean types of meat and fish (the amount of protein is within the physiological norm);
  • milk, dairy products, cottage cheese, unsalted cheese;
  • whole grain bran and cereals;
  • olive oil.

Products should be excluded:

  • containing essential substances (parsley, celery, radish, garlic, onion, basil, radish,

hot spices and sauces (horseradish, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup);

concentrated broths rich in extractive substances - fish, mushroom and meat; sour fruits and vegetables (tomatoes and tomato juice, lemon), with the exception of cranberries; salted, pickled, pickled; sweet confectionery and sugar; salt restriction; containing artificial colors; c high content of oxalic acid (sorrel, spinach); alcoholic beverages, sweet carbonated, strong tea and coffee.

The diet is adjusted if salts (oxalates or phosphates) are found in repeated urine tests and the pH of the urine changes. In case of acidification of urine (pH 4.6-5.8), Diet No. 6 is recommended, and in case of alkalization, Diet No. 14 is recommended.

The loss of uric acid salts (urates) is associated with a decrease in urine pH. The main mechanism of their development is the excessive intake of purine from fish, meat and poultry. Most effective treatment in this case, the purpose of the diet is similar to the diet for gout. Exclusion of liver, kidney, broth from the diet, restriction of meat, fish, poultry and fats normalizes urine pH.

When oxalates appear in the urine, it is recommended to reduce the intake of fats and foods high in oxalic acid: sorrel, spinach, carrots, potatoes, beets, beans, parsley, rhubarb, tomatoes, strawberries, oranges, red grapes, grapefruit, leafy greens, cranberry juice, cocoa , green beans, blackberries, figs, gooseberries, raspberry juice, tea. You should include in the diet foods rich in magnesium - wholemeal bread, cereals. Magnesium salts bind oxalates in the intestine and reduce their absorption.

The precipitation of poorly soluble calcium phosphate salts occurs when the equilibrium is shifted to the alkaline side. Alkalinization is caused by milk and all dairy products, sweet berries and fruits, legumes, potatoes and many vegetables (except green peas, pumpkin, mushrooms), as well as fruit and vegetable juices. They must be excluded and preference given to meat, fish, eggs, cereals, sour berries (red currants, lingonberries), honey. Meat and fish broths are allowed, from drinks - tea, coffee, rosehip broth.

If acute cystitis is properly and promptly treated, then a complete recovery occurs. For some reason, a chronic form of the disease occurs, which has a tendency to periodic exacerbation. In this case, you need to constantly monitor your diet.

  • with chronic cystitis, you will have to permanently abandon (or significantly limit) spicy dishes, seasonings and spices. Significantly limit the diet of smoked meat and fish products, fried foods, at least during periods of exacerbation;
  • limit vegetables that have irritating effects: onions, garlic, radishes, sorrel, horseradish, parsley, radish. At least use them according to your well-being. Perhaps this list will expand at the expense of other vegetables and fruits that will cause irritation and exacerbation of the disease;
  • exclude foods with dyes and preservatives, sugar substitutes, frozen semi-finished products with preservatives;
  • give preference to natural food, mainly boiled, stewed or baked;
  • regularly consume fruit juices, compotes and fruit drinks;
  • observe the drinking regime (1.5-2 liters of liquid);
  • periodically conduct preventive courses of taking decoctions of diuretic herbs;
  • avoid constipation by eating a lot of vegetables with coarse fiber, cereals, bran and whole grain bread;
  • limit alcohol intake.

It is important not to allow hypothermia, to strengthen the immune system and not to break the diet.

As a rule, women have cystitis more often and this is explained by the anatomical features of the structure of the urinary organs. In women, the urethra is shorter and wider than in men, which creates more favorable conditions for infection to enter the bladder. Added to this is not careful adherence to personal hygiene or, on the contrary, excessive enthusiasm for intimate care products and frequent hypothermia. It should also be noted the presence of non-infectious factors - hormone deficiency during menopause. Nutrition does not differ from the above, and its basic principles are preserved and must be followed.

With kidney diseases - pyelonephritis (inflammation of the pelvis and calyx of the kidney) and interstitial nephritis - a more rigorous approach to both treatment and nutrition is needed. For these diseases, the treatment Table No. 7 and its varieties are prescribed. With these diseases, pressure often rises and edema appears, therefore, nutritional therapy should provide sparing for the kidneys, help reduce edema and pressure. Table 7 differs in the limitation of proteins (from 20 g to 80 g per day), depending on the patient's condition, stage of the disease and kidney function. The peculiarities of this treatment table are a significant restriction of salt (from 1.5 g to 6 g), the consumed liquid (from 0.7 to 1.1 l). The use of sodium (salty) mineral waters is not allowed. Otherwise, the general principles of the diet are similar.

Soups are prepared in vegetable broth. Allowed cabbage soup, vegetable and cereal soups. They are seasoned with sour cream or butter, but any seasonings and herbs are excluded.

Lean meat (usually chicken, beef) is used to prepare the second courses. It needs to be boiled, stewed with a little water, or baked. Cabbage rolls are allowed (but without tomato sauce), stuffed zucchini, meat casseroles from boiled meat with vegetables and pasta. Lean fish is boiled or baked with milk or sour cream sauce.

All cereals and any pasta can be used as a side dish. Porridge is boiled in water, you can use krupeniki (casseroles) with cottage cheese, fruit pilaf. From dairy products, milk, yogurt, yogurt and non-acidic cottage cheese are allowed. Allowed 1 boiled egg per day. Many vegetables are allowed, which can be boiled, stewed, made vegetable cutlets in the oven. You cannot add spices to stewed vegetables (sour cream or cream can be used).

Ripe sweet fruits and berries, mashed potatoes and jelly from them, jellies and compotes without sugar are allowed. Honey is allowed, and from drinks - rosehip decoction, juices from sweet fruits, weak coffee and green tea, decoctions of cranberries, lingonberries, fruit drinks from these berries.

The table provides for the restriction of salt and sugar. With cystitis and urethritis, all foods and dishes that have an irritating effect on the mucous membrane should be excluded: hot seasonings, sauces (mayonnaise, ketchup), horseradish, mustard, smoked, salted and pickled dishes. Concentrated broths (fish, mushroom, meat, legumes) rich in extractives are not allowed.

Pork, duck and goose meat, sausages, smoked meats, canned food are excluded from meat products. Do not eat fried foods. Oily fish, canned fish and smoked fish are also prohibited.

A menu can be developed based on the permitted products. You need to try to make the food varied, since all cereals, pasta, meat, fish, cottage cheese, chicken and many (with a few exceptions) vegetables are allowed. The restriction in salt, spices and sugar, of course, affects the taste of the dishes, but they can be varied with home-made neutral milk, cream or sour cream sauces.

Breakfast can consist of milk porridge or porridge on the water, stewed vegetables, cottage cheese, soft-boiled eggs or omelet with vegetables, weak green tea, weak coffee with milk or juice. For lunch, cook vegetable soups, fresh cabbage cabbage soup, beetroot soup. Borscht is not recommended due to the content of tomatoes or tomato paste.

As a second course, choose steamed cutlets, dumplings, meatballs with rice, cabbage rolls with sour cream sauce, boiled chicken, meat or fish, and as a side dish - pasta, stewed vegetables, cereals. For dinner you can cook curd casserole, pasta with unsalted cheese or cottage cheese, crumbs with cottage cheese, juices. Do not forget to drink a lot of rosehip decoction, fruit drinks, dried fruit compotes and juices from non-acid berries during the day.

Reviews and results

This medical food can be called monotonous and devoid of taste, since all seasonings, sauces are excluded and salt is limited. In view of this, it is difficult to withstand it for a long time, which is noted in the reviews. Nevertheless, everyone notes a rapid improvement in the condition of acute cystitis (along with the medication taken). Conversely, when trying to expand the diet ahead of time, the patients developed pain in the lower abdomen and returned dysuric disorders.

  • “... Previously, there were often recurrences of chronic cystitis, but now there has been nothing for a year, as I follow a diet, I do not get hypothermia, and I have been prescribed Monurel twice a year for 2 weeks. The hardest part of all of this is dieting, but it is very important. It has been checked more than once - after feasts with alcohol and spicy dishes I feel worse ”;
  • “... I have been suffering from cystitis since pregnancy. When I kept a diet and did not freeze, everything was fine. But if she got too cold or was bought at sea - it all starts all over again. She was treated in a complex (antibiotics, diet). I liked the drug Uroprofit, I drank it for months. It helps a lot for prevention plus diet. It is not difficult for me to do it, because because of gastritis and constant heartburn I didn’t eat anything spicy or fried ”;
  • “… The whole family cooked for themselves with cystitis and ate - they just added salt and pepper to taste. This way I didn't have to cook separately and it wasn't difficult. I liked the casseroles with cottage cheese, baked apples, zucchini and chicken casseroles. I am ashamed to say, but due to illness, I expanded my knowledge of cooking and replenished it with new dishes. "

The diet contains readily available foods. It is not very expensive, since vegetables and cereals prevail in the diet, and meat dishes only once a day. Taking into account the approximate set of products for a week, the cost of medical nutrition can be rubles.

Source: the lower urinary tract is common reason cystitis - inflammation of the bladder. The development of the inflammatory process, when a bacterial infection enters the bladder through the urethra and actively multiplies in it, leads to the appearance of symptoms of cystitis - the patient begins to suffer from severe pain in the lower abdomen, frequent and persistent urge to urinate, malaise, fever, etc. ...

Cystitis is more common in women than in men (more than 25% of all women show signs of cystitis at some point in their lives). Doctors explain this by the anatomical features of the structure of the organs of the genitourinary system: in women, the urethra is wide and short, only 4-5 cm long, while in men it is narrower and reaches cm. Thus, it is much easier for the pathogenic bacteria to achieve a favorable environment for reproduction in the female body.

In medicine, cystitis is distinguished between acute and chronic, infectious and non-infectious, primary and secondary.

For many patients, the best remedy for cystitis is the Cerelia mineral water. Low-mineralized water Cherelia has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.

The diuretic effect of Cerelia water increases urinary flow and improves urodynamics in the urinary tract, i.e. urine flow. The anti-inflammatory effect inhibits the growth and development of microorganisms in the kidneys and urinary tract.

The antispasmodic effect of Cherelia water helps to cope with urinary disorders (cramps and pains), significantly improving the patient's quality of life, and prevents the development of complications in cystitis. Read more about Cerelia water here.

Typically, the main cause of cystitis is various strains of E. coli. The bacteria that live in the intestines of every person can freely enter the urethra if basic rules of personal hygiene are not followed. Women may develop bladder infections after vaginal intercourse.

Women who use the vaginal diaphragm as their primary method of contraception are especially susceptible to bladder infections because the diaphragm presses on the bladder and makes it impossible to empty it completely. The stagnation of urine that forms in this case is a favorable environment for the growth of bacteria. Pregnant women are also prone to infections, as the growing fetus puts pressure on the bladder. In men, a bladder infection is almost always a symptom of the underlying disease, and may indicate hydronephrosis (impaired outflow of urine), prostate adenoma.

In addition, other diseases can also cause cystitis - oncological, endocrine, urological, etc. Having determined the cause of the bladder inflammation, we can talk about the success of further therapy.

In general, the symptoms of acute bladder inflammation are the same for men and women. They are developing rapidly and include:

  • pain, cramps and burning when urinating;
  • frequent urge to urinate, while the amount of urine excreted is negligible;
  • dark, cloudy, pungent urine, sometimes with blood and / or pus;
  • pulling pain in the lower abdomen or back, including during intercourse;
  • increased fatigue, depression, irritability;
  • temperature increase.

In chronic cystitis, the symptoms are similar to those of acute inflammation, but less pronounced. This form of the disease has a recurrent course, when periods of exacerbation alternate with favorable intervals of varying duration (usually relapses occur 2-3 times a year).

In children, cystitis can be accompanied by fever, decreased appetite, and bouts of vomiting. In this case, it is important to seek medical help as early as possible, since such symptoms can be caused by other, more serious diseases.

As a rule, the diagnosis of acute cystitis does not cause special difficulties, since the patient's complaints give a completely clear clinical picture. But in order to prescribe a competent treatment, the doctor needs the results of some tests - a urine test to detect bacteria, a blood test for the level of erythrocytes and leukocytes, as well as vaginal and urethral smears.

With frequent relapses (chronic cystitis), the patient is shown a consultation with a nephrologist, since the symptoms of cystitis in this case can be caused by urolithiasis, prostatitis or urethritis. Additional diagnostic methods in this case are:

  • Bacterial urine culture;
  • Ultrasound of the genitourinary system (kidneys, bladder and other organs of the small pelvis);
  • Cystoscopy - examination of the bladder with a cystoscope. At one end of the cystoscope is a tiny camera that, during examination, transmits an image of the inner lining of the bladder to a screen;
  • X-ray examination of the urogenital organs.

In chronic cystitis, there is a high probability that the inflammatory process will spread to the kidneys and provoke pyelonephritis. Symptoms typical for pyelonephritis are aching pain in the lower abdomen or back, weakness, fever, vomiting, trembling and chills. The appearance of such symptoms is an indication for emergency hospitalization.

If the inflammatory process, in addition to the mucous membrane of the bladder, extends to its muscular layer, then they speak of interstitial cystitis. With such a complication, a gradual shrinking (scarring) of the bladder occurs, as a result of which it loses its elasticity and decreases in volume, which is an indication for surgery.

Blood in the urine (hematuria) is a serious complication of cystitis. If the bleeding is severe enough, the patient may need a blood transfusion.

It is quite possible to avoid all these complications of cystitis if you promptly seek medical help when the first signs of the disease appear.

The choice of the method of treatment is carried out taking into account the form of the disease and the causes that provoked its development. Cystitis treatment acute form, in addition to observing the drinking regime and correcting nutrition, requires the use of antibacterial and antispasmodic drugs to eliminate inflammation and relieve spasm of the muscles of the bladder. Since in acute cystitis, bacteriological culture of urine is rarely taken, in most cases empirical therapy is carried out - when the action of prescribed antibiotics is aimed at suppressing all pathogenic microflora characteristic of a particular place. If a bacterial culture of urine was done before the start of antibiotic therapy, then on its basis the treatment can be adjusted, taking into account the sensitivity of the causative agent of cystitis to the prescribed drugs. As a rule, when taking antibiotics, there is already a significant improvement in the patient's well-being by 2-3%. To avoid possible relapses in the future, the course of antibiotic therapy should be at least 5-7 days.

Read more about the treatment and prevention of inflammatory processes in the urinary system in the article Mineral water in the treatment and prevention of urolithiasis (Urolithiasis).

Cystitis treatment chronic form always begins with identifying and eliminating the root cause of the disease (prostate adenoma, bladder diverticulitis, urolithiasis, etc.). Antibiotic prescriptions are based on urine culture results. Local treatment of chronic cystitis - instillation - has also become widespread. The procedure involves the introduction directly into the bladder medicinal product, and therefore should be carried out only by a specialist. The course of such therapy, as a rule, includes 8-10 daily procedures, however, the exact number of them is selected by the doctor, taking into account the severity of the disease and the condition of the bladder mucosa.

Complications of cystitis(vesicoureteral reflux, stenosis of the distal urethra, interstitial cystitis, etc.) in most cases do not respond to conservative treatment. In this case, the doctor may recommend surgery.

With cystitis important condition a quick recovery is compliance with the drinking regime... Drinking plenty of fluids (at least 2 liters per day) will promote frequent urination and the rapid removal of bacteria from the bladder along with urine. In this case, the mineral water Cherelia is especially useful for patients: it has a pronounced diuretic, antispasmodic and antibacterial effect, which reduces the risk of developing complications of cystitis to "no".

In most cases, the use of antibiotics, antispasmodics and immunomodulatory drugs gives a persistent therapeutic effect. However, prevention of cystitis is necessary to prevent re-infection, which includes:

  • Exclusion of predisposing factors - stressful situations, hypothermia, overwork, lack of sleep, as well as wearing synthetic underwear (especially thongs);
  • Compliance with the rules of personal hygiene (after defecation, be sure to wash the anus and anus area);
  • Timely treatment of chronic diseases, as well as regular visits to the urologist and gynecologist;
  • Do not ignore the urge to urinate and defecate;
  • Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs);
  • Increased physical activity, as congestion in the pelvic area can cause many problems in the genitourinary sphere;
  • Drinking a sufficient volume of fluid (at least 2 liters per day) - medicinal water Cerelia is an effective means of preventing cystitis, as it prevents the possibility of infection. The course of taking the mineral water Cherelia during the period of remission is 30 days. A few months later, the prophylactic course is repeated.

In addition, the prevention of cystitis also includes nutritional correction. It is necessary to limit the use of spicy, salty, fried foods, as they can irritate the mucous membrane of the bladder. The diet should contain natural products (without dyes and preservatives) - dairy products, fruits and vegetables, fiber.

One of the unpleasant diseases is bladder infection. It is recommended to drink plenty of water for cystitis. Yes, this may seem strange, because with cystitis, urination becomes painful, a sharp pain in the abdomen appears, urine becomes cloudy, some even have a fever, which leads to an unwillingness to drink water at all. Many, with the aim of not going to the toilet so often, try to completely cut down on water intake.

If you have cystitis, then you will have to drink a lot of fluids, and to remove painful sensations it is better to resort to pain relievers.

The volume of fluid consumed during the day is of great importance. It needs to be increased, because the more water you drink, the more will come out, and with it harmful bacteria that contribute to the development of cystitis. With each urination, you remove the infection from your body, however, so that it was painless, pick up a pain reliever with your doctor.

In the first stage of the disease, all bacteria can be freed before the disease develops further and deeper. But in a severe stage, it is important to prevent more bacteria from multiplying in the bladder. Medical intervention is already necessary here, but it is still important to drink plenty of water, because it will speed up the healing process.

The amount of liquid you drink

It is recommended to drink at least 2 liters of water every 2-3 hours. It may seem that this is an overwhelming task, but you will immediately see positive results, especially with a mild form of the disease. You yourself will be surprised that you can drink a lot of water, you just have to tune in to recovery.

Naturally, with cystitis, it is advised to drink various liquids, such as:

  • water;
  • boiled dill and parsley seeds;
  • boiled lingonberry;
  • chamomile;
  • Oak bark;
  • kidney tea;
  • cranberry juice and many other dry herbs in a glass of boiling water.

The first water on the list, oddly enough, without any doubt, is the right choice. So, if you have diabetes or have excess weight then you should exclude sugary drinks. Some patients report a worsening of their condition when drinking soda and actually "Coca-Cola". The second, who have recurrent cystitis, say: I drink about 2 liters of water a day and have excluded drinks containing caffeine, tea, coffee and cola from the diet, and I feel much better. Many have been completely cured, while they have ceased to be carried away by unhealthy carbonated and sugary drinks and those that contain caffeine. There are those who claim that the treatment has acquired a positive effect after giving up alcoholic beverages, while others repeat: I drink a lot of fluids and now I can confidently say that bottled water has valuable benefits.

If your cystitis returns, then it is worth stopping the use of all drinks familiar to you, except for water, to observe, refusing which of them will give a positive result.

Water quality

First of all, water is a universal solvent, and the human body consists of 80% of it. It is a basic liquid and is a part of lymph, blood, etc. It is a fast supplier of important nutrients to tissues and organs, and also removes harmful substances from the body using the excretory organs: kidneys, skin, lungs. And with cystitis, water removes bacteria through the urethra, gradually weakening the infection.

So what is the best water to drink? There are various options:

  1. Pre-settled water. This is water taken from the tap and left alone for a while, usually in the evening. This water is suitable if from the very beginning it was of high quality, in other words, without harmful impurities and pre-purified (filtered, for example) or at least with a low content of iron, calcium salts and other pollutants. When you settle the water, after a few hours it will be cleared of chlorine and ammonia.
  2. Boiled water. The boiling process allows you to purify ordinary water, after which most of the unclaimed mineral salts settle, and chlorine is completely removed. It is believed that boiled water is "dead", it is not advised to drink it.
  3. Filtration. An excellent method of "turning" tap water into clean water. A very simple way of water purification and the most popular one today.
  4. Structured water, or, in other words, melted water, scientists call it "living". They proved that such water has the correct structure, which has a beneficial effect on our body. It is easy to get it, you just need to fill it in a container and put it in the freezer, after it turns into a block of ice, you should cut out the accumulation of bubbles (which is usually in the middle). Thus, you will get an ice "donut", and already it should be melted naturally. You will get melted healing water, like from glaciers, only at home.
  5. Spring water. Everyone knows that natural sources have healing properties, curing both skin diseases and problems with the internal state of the body. It can be water from a spring or just from a well. In any case, it will be clean, without iron impurities. It is important to remember that you need to drink water from trusted sources.
  6. Bottled water is the best and most affordable option that can be purchased in the store while on a walk. A very unhealthy option for water, since plastic affects its structure, however, spoiled residents of large cities are in the first place, because they have absolutely no time to freeze or filter water.

The most accessible is tap water, the main thing is to defend it. Pour into containers in the evening, excluding plastic bottles, and in the morning drink every 2-3 hours.

Do not forget that you cannot replace the drugs prescribed by the doctor and only self-medicate, therefore, the decision to get rid of cystitis should be approached comprehensively. It is necessary to drink a lot of water with this ailment. It is not only an adjunct to treatment, but also an important element in eliminating the disease. Be healthy and take care of yourself!

How much liquid to drink?

A diet for bladder inflammation is aimed at preventing the progression of the inflammatory process and removing harmful bacteria from the body. Drinking plenty of fluids plays an important role in this process. It is the liquid that flushes all unnecessary substances and infectious agents out of the bladder. Therefore, it is recommended to drink at least 2-2.5 liters of liquid during the day.

What can and should be drunk with cystitis?

Diet for cystitis involves the intake of the following types of fluids:

  • ordinary purified or boiled tap water;
  • mineral water;
  • some fruit and fresh vegetable juices;
  • diuretic herbal decoctions;
  • berry fruit drinks;
  • rosehip compotes and decoctions;
  • green or weakly brewed black tea.

Mineral water

Before using broths, you should consult your doctor.

You can take them by preparing a decoction from a collection of herbs or each individual medicinal plant, choosing for yourself the most pleasant and mild agent for the bladder.

Berry fruit drinks

Lingonberries and cranberries contain a huge amount of vitamins and organic acids that can eliminate harmful bacteria and eliminate the inflammatory process in the bladder. Fruit drinks from berries are very useful. You can buy them ready-made or cook them yourself at home. To prepare cranberry juice, you will need: fresh fruit berries - 2 glasses, 2 liters of boiled water. Crush the berries until puree, strain the juice through cheesecloth. Add a little sugar or honey to the juice, pour the required amount of water. Mix everything and bring to a boil. Cool and take the resulting healing drink throughout the day. The recipe for making lingonberry juice is identical to the cranberry one. You can cook fruit drinks not only from fresh, but also from frozen fruits - the healing properties are preserved when frozen.
