DIY plywood box. How to make a plywood box with your own hands: used tools and manufacturing

The most different options boxes constantly catch our eye, and when they are not needed, we do not even remember about their need. But functionally all these various boxes can be designed for a huge number of things, parts, etc.
Let's talk today how we can do it, assemble the plywood boxes with our own hands, what is required for this, and what we will get out of it, given that we are just beginning to learn the art of carpentry.

Why plywood

Since we have chosen plywood for carpentry, and we will consider all the options for boxes precisely through the prism of working with this material, then let's stop for a second on the rationale for our choice.
Plywood is one of the most common materials in finishing works, but besides this, we constantly see it in the production of furniture, respectively, it:

  • Environmentally friendly. Still, we need the material for a structure that will be next to us.
  • Strong. Strength indicators wood products high enough for us to calmly assemble any piece of furniture or a box with our own hands.
  • Ease of use.

In principle, this alone is enough for us to get down to work. And first of all, we will assemble a plywood tool box, by the way, we will certainly need it.

Instruments

Before starting carpentry work, we will collect necessary tool for work:

Similar materials

If you absolutely do not have enough space to store various home kitsch, or you just want to make functional furniture for your home yourself, then we have a great solution: a plywood box. This multifunctional and stylish piece of furniture can help you organize your space in own apartment much more functional, while creating a unique atmosphere of comfort. It is also very important to note that there are a lot of options for making such boxes, and none of them will require serious money, time or physical costs from you. How to make a plywood box with your own hands, let's talk in the presented material.

Plywood: advantages and disadvantages of the material

Of course, first you need to understand why we choose plywood for the manufacture of boxes, because they can be made from many other equally practical materials, for example:

  • metal;
  • cardboard;
  • wood;
  • plastics, etc.

We answer: it is with plywood that it is easiest to work. Of course, it won't last as long as metal, however, you won't need a welding tool to create a box. Cardboard, for example, will not give us the resistance to damage we need, and even more so it does not have the same solid decorative qualities as that of plywood.

In addition, if you ask a similar question to craftsmen whose activities are related to the manufacture of furniture, then they will surely assure you that plywood is the most malleable and rewarding material for work, which has a lot of advantages, although, of course, you can find flaws in it too. We have expanded on this topic in more detail in the following table.

Table 1. Advantages of plywood.

ParameterDescription
Strength
One ply of plywood consists of several layers of wood, superimposed perpendicular to each other. This layout allows you to cover all the flaws of the canvas, giving it maximum strength.

It turns out that plywood is much more reliable than, for example, plastic or thin wood. The performance characteristics of furniture made of this material allow it to be used again and again for at least 10-15 years, and with careful handling even longer.

Low costThe production of this material on an industrial scale is inexpensive for companies. In addition, there is practically no waste from the raw materials used to create plywood, therefore, the final cost of purchased plywood is also available to any wallet.
Versatility of useThe sought-after material can be used for the manufacture of almost any piece of furniture, since, due to its structure, it:
  • easy to cut;
  • does not crumble.

    Contrary to expectations, plywood is very plastic, and therefore, even beginners in the field of furniture manufacturing can work with sheets of material without fear of violating its integrity by careless actions.

  • Wide range ofIt would seem that plywood sheets differ only in thickness, which can be from 2 to 30 millimeters, however, in fact, each layer contains a different number of veneer layers. If you look at the sheet from the side, then they can be seen with the naked eye. The more layers, the stronger and thinner the plywood. Accordingly, you will choose specific sheets based on your current goal: to make a box, chair, table, etc.
    Performance characteristicsDespite the fact that plywood is a very strong material and resistant to damage, its weight indicators are very small. Therefore, it is easy to handle it, as well as to objects made from it.

    Plywood does not wear out for decades, since the products made from it are very flexible, and it is not so easy to break them.

    Table 2. Disadvantages of plywood.

    ParameterDescription
    Sensitivity to air humidityDespite the fact that plywood is resistant to water falling on its surface (largely because it is also treated with varnishes and special water-repellent compounds before use), it is highly sensitive to changes in the level of humidity in the air.

    So, you can't put it in too wet place, as it will become damp and rot. But even in a room where batteries are continuously working at full power, it should not be left either, as it will crack.

    However, the use of sealants, varnish and resins obtained by polycondensation of phenols can slow down its wear even when used under inappropriate conditions.

    Sale in the form of strata with standard parametersIn stores, plywood is sold in the form of sheets standard size, the size of which is 1.525 * 1.525 millimeters. That is why, even if you want to make a box of the most modest sizes, you will have to purchase a huge sheet at once.

    In addition, the minimum thickness of plywood is 2 millimeters, there are no thinner sheets, this will also have to be reckoned with, and items of at least average size from this material should be crafted.

    Plywood interior items

    Perhaps you did not pay attention to the fact that a significant part of the products present in your home are made of plywood. So, it is often collected from it:

    • cabinets;
    • frame for upholstered furniture;
    • tables;
    • chairs;
    • even kitchen sets.

    As you can see, the material is suitable for making any furniture, therefore, a box from it can be assembled with almost any parameters. The result is a very practical device that will add a certain comfort to life and functionality in the atmosphere of the apartment.

    Plywood is a very flexible material, so you can not be afraid to damage the sheet by not careful movement during its processing

    As for how such boxes can be used, there are also a lot of ideas. Having made a "box" out of plywood, you can:

    • fill the shelves of cabinets and put things inside that were previously thrown there in a shapeless pile;
    • turn it over, attach the legs on casters and turn it into a coffee table;
    • use as a book holder;
    • make several identical boxes on top of each other, making a multi-storey organizer, etc.

    How to choose plywood for making a box

    Plywood is made from different types of wood, so the properties of each category of these plates can also vary. That is why, it is important to carefully look at the description of the material when buying.

    So, plywood made from linden can boast:

    • dense structure;
    • flexibility.

    The material made of pine, by its nature, will be durable and resistant to various mechanical damage.

    Birch plywood is famous for its smoothness and smooth surface. If you want to make a flawlessly beautiful product for display, then, as a rule, they take it.

    Most often, furniture is made of plywood marked "FC"

    Not only is it that when choosing a particular plywood, one has to pay attention to which tree became its "progenitor", one must also carefully study the abbreviations, which imply that additives were added to the wood layer, necessary to improve certain quality characteristics of the product.

    How to make a plywood box with your own hands at home

    Instruction number 1 - we make a box for storing things

    In such a multifunctional plywood box, you can store things for almost any purpose. It will take you very little time to collect it. It will be great if you have at least the basic building skills, however, without this, you will succeed in the best way.

    Step 1 - Collecting the necessary tools.

    To make an ordinary box, you need:

    • roulette;
    • planks no more than 2.5 centimeters thick;
    • plywood sheet;
    • corners (it is better to use metal);
    • nails;
    • hacksaw;
    • hammer.
    • in some cases, you will additionally need self-tapping screws, metal hinges.

    Skillful hands and a set of building tools are all you need to make a plywood box

    Step 2 - make a drawing of the box on paper.

    In order for the box to turn out exactly the way you want, you must first make a drawing of it in real size on paper.

    If you want to make a box with individual parameters, go for it. However, we suggest that you use the drawing presented in this step in the image. However, there are a great many similar drawings on the Internet, and you can find the one that suits you, and then download it.

    So, on paper, we need to depict:

    • the bottom of the box;
    • two short walls;
    • two long walls.

    After the drawing is ready, we will need to transfer its components to plywood.

    Step 3 - We cut the material.

    Take a hacksaw and cut out the details of the construction, lined up on the plywood. Use the tool carefully, especially if the size of the box is small, since it is always possible to cut off excess from pliable plywood.

    After removing the desired segment of the part with a jigsaw, you will have to cut a new one, and waste plywood, which could be used again later.

    Please note: the drawing is transferred to the plywood immediately with the grooves of the boxes, however, first you just need to cut out rectangular parts, and then cut out the grooves separately.

    Step 4 - Processing the details.

    Now you need to clean the edges of the sections with sandpaper, as they will certainly be uneven after cutting. If this is not done, it will be difficult to combine them with each other, in addition, the material will not look neat.

    Use sandpaper to rub down the details

    Step 5 - We connect the details of our box.

    So, the details of the sidewalls need to be connected using the groove method. It is better to do this using glue at the same time in order to give the product maximum strength.

    The bottom of the product is screwed to the walls with self-tapping screws, and thus is fixed. Make sure that the screws are not longer than the height of the bottom, otherwise it may damage the structure of the walls.

    Instruction number 2 - we make a box for collecting mail

    So, from plywood, you can make a box not only for storing things inside the house, but also for collecting mail.

    So, to execute such a box, we need to collect:

    • moisture resistant plywood (after all, the box will hang on the street);
    • self-tapping screws;
    • hinges to make a cover;
    • metal corners;
    • a pen.

    As for the tools, you will need to prepare:

    • saw;
    • screwdriver;
    • sandpaper;
    • drill.

    Step number 2 - make a drawing and transfer it to plywood.

    Using the drawing presented in step, we draw the details on paper in full size, which we will then assemble to make a box.

    It is better to use a drawing paper, a pencil, a ruler and other necessary drawing devices for these purposes; it will not be possible to make an accurate "picture" by hand.

    After the drawing is ready on paper, we transfer it to plywood in exactly the same form.

    Step # 3 - Cut out the parts and drill the holes.

    Now, using a jigsaw or a hacksaw, you need to cut out all the parts we need from plywood.

    The centers of the mounting holes will be located:

    • at the center point of the end parts of the parts;
    • at a distance of 15 millimeters from the edges of the part.

    Step number 4 - connect the parts together.

    Now, using the blanks and fasteners made, you need to attach the parts to each other.

    Last of all, a hinged cover is attached to the body on hinges, and then metal corners are screwed to the sidewalls.

    A plywood birdhouse is a great opportunity to take care of birds and practice your carpentry at the same time. A bird house created with your own hands will be able to decorate the balcony of a multi-storey building or garden plot... The workflow is simple, you just need to follow the rules and recommendations. We will tell about them

    Step # 5 - Completing Actions.

    It is necessary to carefully wipe the box with sandpaper to make it smooth, and then cover its entire surface with antiseptic and varnish.

    Now it's time to put the handle on the door, which can be fixed to the self-tapping screw.

    Please note: after hanging the box on the street, attach a visor over it from metal profile or other material that is indifferent to moisture, so that the box and the correspondence inside it are protected from rain.

    Instruction number 3 - making a box for storing tools

    A plywood box is a gadget that every man can find. This simple plywood product helps you move even the most awkward tools from A to B to complete set... It's so good that you can make it yourself. Let's see how to do this.

    Step # 1 - collecting tools and materials.

    So, to collect this box you need to prepare:

    • strong plywood that can withstand the weight of construction devices (it is better to take a sheet 1.5 cm thick for the bottom, and a sheet of 10 mm for the walls);
    • nails;
    • electric jigsaw;
    • sandpaper;
    • antiseptic;
    • whatman;
    • round bar or stalk;
    • pencil;
    • ruler;
    • self-tapping screws.

    Having collected everything you need, let's get to work.

    Jigsaw

    Step number 2 - transfer the drawing to paper and then to plywood.

    So, by analogy with the instructions presented above, using the example given in this step, or found on the Internet yourself, draw on paper the details of the future box in full size.

    Then the drawn drawing will need to be transferred to plywood, while remembering that:

    • the bottom is drawn on a sheet, the thickness of which is one and a half centimeters;
    • the rest of the parts can be made from thinner plywood 10 millimeters.

    Step number 3 - cut out and grind the parts.

    The transferred parts must be turned into blanks. For this:

    • we cut them out of plywood;
    • cut off the "ears" at the side blanks to give them the shape of a trapezoid.

    Then each segment will need to be carefully wiped with sandpaper in order to make the future toolbox even.

    Step # 4 - Assembling the parts.

    Now we need to connect 4 walls of the product together. We put narrow trimmed parts opposite each other, connect them with long sides.

    The walls need to be connected to each other with nails, just make sure that the nails enter the wood correctly, and do not come out with sharp tips on the other side.

    Then on the self-tapping screws "put" the bottom to the walls. You can also use nails, but in this case self-tapping screws seem to us to be a more convenient fastener.

    Step number 5 - install the handle.

    The handle is made according to the size of the box from a bar or handle, which is usually put on a rake. Just saw off the part you need to size, and fix it on the outside of the box body with screws or nails.

    Instruction No. 4 - making a drawer from plywood

    A plywood drawer can be useful for those who independently assemble entire cabinets for the house. Let's see how to make it.

    Step number 1 - collecting materials.

    So, to assemble such a box, you will need the following materials and tools:

    • drill;
    • jigsaw;
    • stapler for wood;
    • plywood;
    • wooden bars;
    • roller mechanism;
    • finishing and finishing nails;
    • loops;
    • glue gun.

    Glue gun prices

    Glue gun

    Step number 2 - create a drawing and transfer it to plywood.

    So, to begin with, according to the scheme presented above in the instructions:

    • we transfer the drawing from the picture to the plywood;
    • We cut out all the necessary parts using an electric jigsaw.

    The workpieces made should be processed immediately using sandpaper.

    Step number 3 - draw the lines of the grooves.

    Already on the prepared parts, it is necessary to draw the lines of the grooves, so that, as in the first instruction, we can simply insert them into each other. However, if you are too lazy to do this, then you can leave the parts as they are, and at the joints, simply put the walls on screws or nails.

    Step # 4 - Putting the Parts Together.

    Now you need to attach the walls, having previously glued their end parts or grooves together, and then:

    • press firmly if you are not using metal fasteners;
    • attach with self-tapping screws if there are no grooves.

    In those places where the fittings will be attached, we make holes with a drill.

    Step number 5 - attach the guides and the handle.

    So, now we need to fix the fittings at the bottom of the box at its ends. Place the rolled metal strips in sequence, carefully fastening them to the plywood.

    After everything is ready, attach a handle to the front wall of the drawer, which you will use to pull it. If you don't want to make a handle, you can simply cut a notch in the front wall so you can grab it and pull it out from where it is.

    Step number 6 - cover the product with varnish.

    The finished product must be varnished without fail in order to extend its life. It is also better to pre-soak the plywood with antiseptics, let it dry, and only then apply varnish on the box, smearing it inside and out.

    Furniture stores have a large selection of stools. In the manufacture of stools can be used different materials, for example, plastic, metal, wood or. The latter is considered one of the most affordable, and can become original decoration for any design solution.

    Let's summarize

    As you can see, there are many various designs plywood boxes. Not all of them are presented in this material, however, you can find the drawing you need or get an idea on the Internet. However, many of you are able to make a drawing yourself, simply using the materials presented in the article you are reading as a guide, while defining your own dimensions for the products.

    The box can be assembled without blueprints, by eye, however, such aerobatics is a sign of the highest skill in the field of furniture collection. If you can do it, then go for it, and everything will definitely turn out the way it was intended.

    Video - DIY plywood mini boxes

    If you, as a decoupage master, often use homemade wooden blanks then this step by step wizard the class will help your assistants in creativity, make it according to your size.

    Well, let's start making?

    Materials and tools

    We will need:

    1. Plywood 6 and 8 mm thick, grade 2/4, sanded
    2. Rails 25 mm wide with rounding
    3. Hand jigsaw
    4. Manual frezer
    5. Jigsaw machine
    6. PVA glue - Super PVA D3 Joiner
    7. Sander
    8. Time and desire to do it all

    For the sidewalls of the box, we use plywood with a thickness of 8 mm, and for the bottom we use 6 mm.

    I always buy 2/4 grade sanded plywood for the production of blanks. When choosing it in the store, try to select sheets with a pronounced pattern of the tree structure, because further products turn out to be more beautiful than from plywood, which has just an even white layer. Also, when choosing, pay attention to defects in the form of not glued or chipped parts, it is better not to take them.

    Cut plywood

    The sides of the box will be 195 mm by 130 mm in size, with a rounding in a radius of 22 mm, the bottom will be 195 mm by 315 mm. We line our plywood for these dimensions.

    In order to get a smooth cut without chips, we glue the cut with tape. Below is an example of the difference between a cut with and without tape:

    First, we cut the plywood with a hand jigsaw, while I use a jigsaw file with a fine tooth and I try to keep the speed of the jigsaw from 1 to 3. In this mode, it is less likely to get chips at the cutting site. If you do not have a hand jigsaw, cutting can be done with a hand saw for wood, I did this before.

    Obtaining an even cut with a milling cutter, template milling method

    This process is one of the most important, since if the edges are not even, then a strong bond will not work when gluing. This can be done with a saw or jigsaw, but requires a lot of skill and experience. Also, an even cut can be obtained when cutting on a circular machine, but I do not have it yet. In general, I think the idea is clear, at this stage we are achieving even geometric dimensions and edges for further gluing together.

    At one time, a manual router was purchased specifically to obtain smooth edges for gluing. I had no experience with this tool, and for testing I purchased one of the most inexpensive hand mills. Like any tool, it has its advantages and disadvantages, but at the moment it completely suits me and copes with the task at hand. In my opinion, in terms of price and quality for a beginner, this router is the best. And then, if you like working with a router and you understand what kind of work you will use it for, you can take a more consciously specialized router, there are a great many varieties of them.

    On the sidewalls, we need rounding. To make a template, we will use a ruler with circles. By using jigsaw carefully round off the template.

    Now, to obtain identical parts, we use the first sidewall as a template, and also with the help of a copy cutter and hand router we make all the other side blanks.

    We bring the bottom of our boxes to even geometric dimensions using a ruler with clamps and a hand router. In the following steps, we use the first part as a template.

    After the parts have been cut out, we grind them. To speed up the process, I have a grinding machine and we will use it.

    Drawing details, working with a jigsaw

    According to our idea, at the ends of the box, there are holes that play the role of handles.

    To make drawings, it is convenient to use the KOMPAS program from ASCON - this program for creating drawings, I studied it when I was a student. On the official website www.kompas.ru you can download a free lightweight version of KOMPAS 3D LT, its capabilities are quite sufficient for making simple models, I just use this. What program do you use when making drawings for your products? Please write in the comments.

    Having drawn the element we need, we print out the drawing of our holes.

    Having marked out the side elements on the workpiece with the axis of symmetry, and focusing on them, we glue the printout on the workpiece. We drill a hole for the file with a drill and cut out our future handles with a jigsaw machine.

    For the walls of our box, we use strips with a width of 25 mm. Having marked the required length on it, using a jigsaw machine, we cut 6 elements.

    Box gluing

    So we got to the gluing process.

    For gluing plywood and wood, I use Super PVA D3 Joiner moment glue.

    This glue adheres perfectly wooden surfaces, while the gluing time is only 10-15 minutes. I buy it in a large package and pour it into a container from the usual PVA glue that we bought for the school. It is much more convenient to work with such a small tube.

    For the convenience of gluing on the sidewalls, we preliminarily mark the boundaries of the location of the rails.

    Having glued all the elements, we put them under the press, in this case, pancakes from dumbbells play the role of weighting agents.

    After drying, we get just such a blank.

    In the coming days, Elya plans to decorate it, and she will definitely share a master class. Stay tuned for new articles.

    And that's all for me, I'm waiting for your assessments, and I will be happy to answer questions in the comments. Bye Bye.

    A box for storing various small things and products is considered an indispensable attribute in a modern economy. Thanks to this design, all things are in their place, while not forming a mess. For example, vegetables and fruits should be stored in a ventilated facility where fresh air can flow freely.

    Monolithic products without any holes are suitable for tools. For various little things, designs with additional doors and a folding mechanism are suitable.

    We offer original options for storage boxes made by hand. Here you will find out what materials and tools you need to make these products.

    What materials are used for the construction of structures?

    Most often, boxes are made of wood and other materials. For tools, it is better to choose solid pine or maple. Alder or aspen are suitable for products. These tree species are distinguished by their durability and strength. They do not emit tarry secretions and do not dry out over time.

    Plywood is suitable for making decorative items. Any little thing can be placed here. A special adhesive is used to fix the parts.

    DIY master class on creating a box

    We offer step by step instructions how to make a box at home. To do this, you will need the following tools and materials:

    • tape measure;
    • simple pencil;
    • board 25 mm thick;
    • wood trims 15 mm thick;
    • thin plywood;
    • metal corners;
    • nails and screws;
    • hacksaw;
    • screwdriver;
    • metal hinges for opening the cover structure;
    • hammer.

    The first step is to familiarize yourself with the diagrams and drawings of how to make a box. This will allow you to correctly match the dimensions of the finished product. Do not make too large structures, as they will take up a lot of free space.

    When all the components are ready, you can proceed to making a storage system for vegetables and fruits. The process includes several stages:

    On the surface of the boards, mark the size of the side parts of the product. Next, we move on to the bottom of the box. Mark the size on the wood trim. After that, using a hacksaw, we begin to cut the blanks.

    We fix the boards to each other with small nails. We fix the bottom details using the same technique.

    The product cover consists of plywood sheet... It is installed on special hinges that allow you to control the closing process.

    The do-it-yourself box photo shows the whole workflow.

    Tool storage box

    This type of design is considered the best idea box with your own hands. This product will allow you to keep all the working tools in one place. Here you can make additional sections for storing screws, nails and nuts.

    To do this, you need to prepare:

    • thin board;
    • thick plywood;
    • hacksaw;
    • electric jigsaw;
    • hammer;
    • screwdriver;
    • tape measure;
    • drawing of the finished product;
    • metal corners.

    On sheets of thick plywood we make markings for the details of the box. After that, we drill holes for fastening metal hinges. Next, we connect the side parts to each other.

    We are starting to manufacture the bottom for the storage system. For this, we attach a thin board to the side parts of the box. To prevent it from collapsing under the weight of tools, it must be strengthened with thin boards. For this, several wooden elements are stuffed on the bottom surface.

    In the side parts of the plywood we draw the markings for the handles. They will be cut inside the main body of the product. You will need an electric jigsaw here. The cutting base is installed at the beginning of the marking.

    In the process of cutting out parts, do not make sudden movements. They can provoke the appearance of cracks on the surface of the product.

    Now we start installing the partitions. To do this, cut out a small square from thin plywood. It is fixed with metal corners in the middle of the structure.

    The diagram shows a detailed view of the toolbox. The drawing shows the exact number of parts:

    • side parts - 4 pcs.;
    • bottom - 1 piece;
    • partition wall;
    • handles - 2 pcs.

    DIY photo of boxes

    The most common thing, for example, a plywood box, will become very useful addition in a private house, in the country, or even in an apartment. It is not only a container for tools, consumables, detergents, but also an interior detail. It is enough to spend a little time and a leather substitute, and the plywood box will turn into an original chair.

    An example of quality work with a discreet design

    What you need to have on hand

    Of course, a plywood box does not require the use of specialized and expensive tools, but some building elements should still be purchased.

    To make a plywood box, you need the following types of tools:

    • Jigsaw or standard hand saw for wood. The use of the second element will significantly prolong the installation process, but will reduce costs, since an ordinary jigsaw can have a high price. And there is no point in acquiring it for the sake of installing one box.
    • Screwdriver. The power of the screwdriver is quite enough for both screwing the screws into the box, and for working with drills. Subsequently, such a tool will come in handy in everyday life more than once.
    • Construction stapler. It differs from ordinary instruments in greater power and impact force. A quality construction stapler will drive the staple even into hard woods such as oak and beech.
    • Roulette. It is not necessary to take a tape measure 5 meters long or more, a standard enough 2 meters.
    • Pencil. Can be purchased both at a hardware store and at the office. You should not use a marker, when working with plywood or wood, it is strongly absorbed into the surface.
    • Hammer. One of the basic tools that can come in handy at any time.
    • Curly screwdriver. For neatly screwing the screws into the box, when it can be driven too deep with a screwdriver.
    • Safety glasses and gloves. Mandatory protective equipment that will protect your eyes (especially when working with a jigsaw or drill) and hands.

    Plywood box elements and material selection

    A high-quality and durable plywood box should consist of the following structural elements:

    1. Bottom. The thickest plywood is selected, since it is this part of the box that can withstand the main load.
    2. Side walls. You can use thinner plywood, but do not save too much - if the box is overloaded, the walls of the box may not withstand.
    3. Lid. It is not installed on all types of boxes, but can be used (with the right decoration) as a chair.
    4. Pens. They are made separately from wood or buy ready-made ones. Forged handles look very solid.
    5. Decor elements. It can be wooden planks or curly bars. Used for exterior decoration of the product.

    The sequence of making a box from plywood

    The main thing before starting work with plywood is the design of the drawing. Only by marking and drawing a preliminary plan can you make a high-quality plywood box.

    DIY plywood box. Installation sequence:

    1. Drawing up a drawing. As mentioned above, this is the main stage of installation, since the design is followed by the manufacture of a pattern. A slight inaccuracy will lead to a fragile structure with a very short service life.
    2. For greater clarity, you can make a preliminary box of paper or cardboard and immediately adjust it if you are not satisfied with the dimensions of the structure.
    3. Having finally approved the dimensions, they can be transferred to plywood sheets. Use only a simple pencil. The marker lines will turn out to be too large, besides, it is very difficult to erase the marker from the wood.
    4. After transferring the drawing to the plywood surface, you can start cutting out the component parts. So that you do not have to use a plane later, the plywood box should be cut out carefully and precisely along the lines.
    5. Now you need to make grooves that will give the structure solidity. You can use either a jigsaw or a standard hacksaw.

    Finished box parts with grooves

    1. Once the parts of the box are ready, the edges should be sanded with appropriate tools and sanding paper. Best to use grinder, this will significantly reduce the processing time.
    2. After processing, the component parts of the box can be pre-bonded. If the design turns out to be reliable, then building glue should be applied to all joints and grooves and the product should be allowed to dry. For this, a plywood box is placed in a warm, dry place for 4-6 hours.

    Pre-assembly

    • After the glue has dried, the plywood box should be fastened with self-tapping screws. A more modern compound is the confirmations, but they require a certain handling skill.

    Components of a plywood box

    1. Additional holes must be drilled for the handles and fastened with furniture bolts. It is better not to use self-tapping screws, since with frequent handling of the box, they can loosen.
    2. Some DIYers mount small wheels, which adds convenience if the plywood box needs to be moved. Standard furniture bolts are used to fasten the wheels.

    Drawer finishing

    Before use, a plywood box must be properly processed. To level the surface and fill in excess holes, use wood putty. This variety building material easy to apply and dries quickly, 2-3 hours is enough. After the putty has dried, you can open the box with varnish. The use of varnish is mandatory, as it will not only add sophistication, but also protect the product from the harmful effects of temperature extremes or high humidity.

    It should also be remembered that after the layer of putty has dried, it must be cleaned with sandpaper or similar tools. It is necessary to purchase a fine-grain sandpaper that is most suitable for this type of surface.

    Decorative elements made in the form of slats and strips are attached to a plywood box using construction glue. The use of self-tapping screws or bolts violates the aesthetics of the product, makes it look too rough.

    Outside, a plywood box can be painted with a color scheme, now they look very beautiful acrylic paints... The color of the paints is matched to the overall design of the room. The variety of shades is great, so you can experiment to achieve the most harmonious range.

    Production in large quantities

    From the above information, we can conclude: it will not take much time to make a box out of plywood with your own hands. The main thing is to fill your hand and get required amount tools that simplify the process of installing the product. After creating several boxes, it is quite possible to think about mass production, which can bring good benefits.

    The purchase of plywood and the production of a box from this material will allow in a short period of time, with minimum costs, create a variant of earnings. With a certain skill, it takes up to 12 hours to create one box from plywood. Having made simple calculations, you can understand how much this business will bring profit in the future.
