Based on the drawing, we make a model of the future fireplace from cardboard boxes or foam. It is necessary to create all the details of the fireplace, and install them on tape where you plan to place this decor element. Perform the layout carefully, completely in accordance with the project, in order to analyze errors in advance and eliminate them.

We proceed to the construction of the structure. During construction we need:

Initially, we transfer all the details of the future fireplace to sheets of drywall, and cut it out with a grinder. Plasterboard sheets with a thickness of at least 1.2 cm are suitable for cladding a fireplace.

Next, we move on to the putty. Why it is necessary to process the edges of the drywall with an abrasive, prime and fill the fireplace completely. We also produce putty inside and outside. We use tape and perforated corners to connect the sheets together so that the grout adheres well and the surface becomes perfectly flat.

The next stage is finishing the false fireplace. You can decorate it with any material. Tiles, artificial stone are suitable here, plaster finish, granite, marble, simple painting and much more. It all depends on your imagination and the stylistic solution of the room as a whole.

But first you need to finish interior a decorative fireplace, especially if a heat appliance will be installed in it. Thermal insulation is necessary in this case. We trim the portal with magnesite and cover it with foil on top. Such a layer will reflect heat and will not allow the inner walls of the fireplace to heat up.

The main thing is to study the advice of specialists, think over the design well and take care of fire safety if it is supposed to use live fire. In anticipation of the New Year's magic, I want to transform my home, add coziness and festive mood. I recall European Christmas tales and films, where there is always a fireplace with spruce twigs and red balls in the interior.

Do you think that installing a decorative hearth on the eve of the gift boom is an impermissible waste? Then make a fireplace out of boxes. Yes, exactly of those that should have been thrown away for a long time, but somehow their hands did not rise.

Like any homemade creative craft, making a fireplace starts with planning. This stage may seem superfluous and boring when an idea is already growing in your head and you want to quickly translate it into reality. But it is required. Without the right sketch, "building" a hearth will take a lot of time and effort, and the result can be disappointing.

At the planning stage, we do the following:

we carefully select a place for a decorative element, since it is undesirable to move the finished structure;
we determine the style and prevailing colors in the interior: a decorative fireplace should harmoniously fit into the atmosphere, and not stand out with its absurdity;
we collect "building" material (any cardboard boxes will do) and choose the appropriate shape and size;
we make a drawing of the desired design with a detailed indication of all dimensions;
we select a method of decorative finishing and prepare a drawing-sketch of a fireplace in color (very often what we draw in our imagination turns out to be far from ideal, but all the flaws will be immediately visible on paper).

When choosing a decoration method, we advise you to walk through a hardware store. If you have not done repairs for a long time, then you will be surprised how many new materials and mixtures have appeared on the market. Perhaps such a walk will push you into original idea painting or coating with imitation material.

Do not rush to simplify everything as much as possible, because the manufacturing process itself is already quite simple. Enough attention should be paid to decorating the structure. Otherwise, you will get a craft at the level of a school lesson in labor, which will not fool anyone or surprise.

What is required?

The simplest design to manufacture is obtained from a box from a TV with a large diagonal. Small boxes, for example from small household appliances or from under shoes, will need to be glued and resized.

Packaging for large household appliances (refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers and washing machines) it is better to disassemble it into cardboard sheets and form a fireplace box from scratch.

To create a hearth, in addition to cardboard boxes, you may need:

a piece of drywall or foam for the mantel;
a roll of white paper for pasting;
masking tape;
stationery tape;
Double-sided tape;
long ruler, tape measure and pencil;
sponge, wide brush and two small ones;
scissors and a stationery knife;
PVA glue (for gluing cardboard);
polymer glue (for fixing the decor);
water emulsion for priming (the background can be white or with the addition of color);
acrylic paint for painting parts;
finishing materials (liquid wallpaper, putty, plaster, varnishes);
decorative elements (New Year's decor, ceiling plinth, decorative stucco, colored paper, etc.).

This list is not dogmatic. It can be changed and replenished depending on a specific project. Make your list and prepare all the materials and tools on it in advance, so that while creating, you will not be distracted or annoyed.

A fireplace in the form of the letter "P" without a base is easy to manufacture. Imitation of brickwork from red paper bricks or wallpaper corresponds to the New Year's theme.

The red brick fireplace and green spruce are a classic color range holiday.

To create the desired effect, an image of burning logs can be glued to the inner wall of the hearth. Such a fabulous version can be used as a props for a children's matinee or for a home performance.

The image of the fire inside the fireplace can be more realistic, especially if you find a 3D format. If you take not individual bricks for pasting, but wallpaper or a special blank for brickwork, then it will turn out even more interesting. But here you need even corners and the correct shape.

You can also paint bricks on the surface. It will take longer, but it will look more believable. You can put rolled paper or thin cardboard into the firebox.

The use of plaster, followed by the application of masonry figures, transforms the lightweight cardboard structure into a solid stone structure. White color marble will perfectly fit into the interior of the bedroom with pastel colors.

An excellent place for a fireplace is the wall between the windows in the spacious living room of a private house. Option with a chimney in large room looks impressive.

For a fireplace in an aristocratic style under a white massive stone, decorative elements made of expanded polystyrene (patterns, strips) and a ceiling molding are well suited.

They are glued with polymer glue to the finished, but not painted structure. It is important to maintain symmetry.

Instead of wrapping the boxes with white paper, you can use fabric wrapping in a specific color. Feel free to involve children in the process: joint crafts strengthen relationships and develop imagination.

An excellent option for a small hearth. It is more stable, so it can be placed not only against a wall. It will perfectly decorate the hallway. You can put a bunch of twigs from the park in the firebox, and to simulate fire, cut out a flame from colored paper or put short LED garlands (you can have a flickering effect). Master class: mini-fireplace from one box

Sometimes you want to festively decorate not only your home, but also your office or your workplace... In this case, it is enough to make a mini-fireplace that can be placed on a windowsill, open shelf or desk.

For crafts you will need:

1 medium box;
3 small elongated boxes;
glue gun or ordinary PVA glue;
a piece of cardboard for the mantel;
cut of wallpaper with brickwork or self-adhesive oilcloth;
white water-based paint;
decor (fir branches, garlands, candles);
scissors and pencil.

Introducing step by step instructions for manufacturing:

At the bottom of the box we glue all the doors. On the front side, bend one long sash (it will serve as a protruding base of the fireplace), and glue the other to two short sashes.

We put small boxes around the perimeter of the resulting window and make pencil markings.

Using the markings made, we expand the window, cutting off the excess cardboard with scissors. Then we glue the boxes.

Cut out decorative elements from the cut cardboard (you can think of something original). We glue the blanks and slats on the fireplace.

We glue the cardboard mantelpiece, it should protrude 4-5 cm, forming a visor. We paint the craft with white paint in several layers. It is advisable to paint over from all sides.

We fix the decor made of plastic or metal with polymer glue. On the inner wall and on the protruding bent base with glue, a piece of wallpaper cut to size.

We complete the decoration with New Year's decor and candles.

Master class: fireplace with an arch cutout

A simple way to make a homemade fireplace from two old boxes.

You will need:

2 large boxes of the same size;
stationery tape;
knife and scissors;
a sheet of cardboard;
gray wrapping paper;
brick-colored paint;
sponge for applying paint;
decor for decoration and imitation of fire in the firebox.

And now the whole process is step by step:

We take two old boxes and connect them to make a large box. Gently glue all joints and seams with tape.

We make a cornice for the fireplace from cardboard.

We cut out an arch in the box (it is better to first make the necessary markings). We wrap the box and cornice with wrapping paper. We cut out a window in the place of the arch and glue the edges of the paper.

We glue the cornice with tape.

We paint over interior walls fireplace with black paint in a spray can (this is done on the street). We dilute the paint of the desired shade for applying bricks. Using a sponge, apply bricks to the surface and leave to dry.

Firewood and candles on a black background create a special atmosphere.

Master class: corner fireplace made of cardboard sheets with a chimney

One of the options for a corner fireplace was presented above. Its creation from a cardboard box is not difficult. A more complex and interesting design is obtained from sheets of cardboard with a chimney.

First you need to prepare:

cardboard sheets;
tape measure and long ruler;
pencil, scissors and stationery knife;
glue gun;
paint white and red.

When all the materials and tools are ready, you can start working. In this project, it is very important to draw up a preliminary drawing and make all measurements. It is more convenient to immediately cut the necessary blanks. And in order not to get confused, sign the dimensions on them. Then all that remains is to assemble the constructor.

Detailed manufacturing process:

Cut out triangular bases with a rounding. You will need 4 blanks to create a solid structure. We glue a border made of cardboard pieces to one of the blanks. Create stiffeners inside the resulting box.

We close the structure with a second blank and get a solid base for the fireplace. We do the top in the same way.

For reliability, we fix the joints with masking tape and glue the resulting parts to the side panels.

We install a panel inside the fireplace to close the corner. From the sides we install the planks and form a wide "wall" with stiffening ribs. We cover the finished structure with a primer and white paint.

We cut blanks from cardboard for decorating the fireplace inside and outside. We make elements for interior design wider and shorter and paint in pink color... It is better to make elements for the external design narrower and more authentic, they are painted red, creating a contrast. We glue the fireplace inside and outside with blanks.

We are starting to manufacture a chimney with stiffening ribs. On the front side we glue a whole sheet of cardboard. We paint the chimney with white paint and create a wood imitation.

We fix the chimney and decorate with New Year's decor.
