XPS Technoplex plaster. How to plaster Penoplex: preparation, reinforcement, finishing Penoplex indoors how to plaster under wallpaper

How and how exactly to plaster penoplex? Do I need to use it for interior decoration for living quarters? Is a preparatory primer for the thermal insulator required? In the note, we are expected to give answers to these and other questions.

Insulation inside with foam.

Distinctive material characteristics

First, let's begin to get acquainted with the main characteristics of a heat insulator.

What is Penoplex? This is just the company under which the extruded polystyrene foam is made. From the material more common to us - foam - it is important only for its great rigidity.

Interesting: we will immediately disperse one of the myths around the material for insulation by the diligence of managers. The thermal insulation properties of foam plastic do not stand out in any significant way against the background of foam plastic. The difference is practically within the limits of inaccuracy, and it is explained by a decent number of tightly closed air cells in the material configuration.

Compare the heat conductivity of non-pressed (foam) and extruded (foam) expanded polystyrene.

The properties of penoplex directly stem from the raw materials used in its production and the structure of the material.

  • More rigidity than foam, but not happy... A thin plaster layer on its plane asks for reinforcement: otherwise, the very first bruise will become the center of a network of cracks, they very quickly lead to delamination of the coating.
  • The material is vapor-permeable, although to a lesser extent than foam.
  • Polystyrene releases poisonous and volatile styrene even at low temperatures.... If so, when insulating inside, he asks for reliable isolation from the room for living.
  • The adhesive properties of its plane are somewhat inferior to the adhesive properties of foam.

Untreated polystyrene foam is a flammable material; but in the manufacture of foam, fire retardants are added to the raw material, which makes it self-extinguishing.

Materials (edit)

So, what is the material for insulation of interest to us plastered with?

The answer depends on which side of the capital type wall the insulation layer is placed on.

Insulation inside

For finishing inside, you can safely use putties and gypsum plasters... in particular, from the assortment of Knauf, a German company widely represented on the domestic market, Rotband plaster mix and Fugenfüller multifunctional putty are used. Both compositions are vapor-permeable and have good adhesion to concrete, brick and other porous surfaces.

Pictured is Rotband gypsum-based plaster.

But are the adhesive parameters of the penoplex sufficient for good adhesion to them?

Where no mechanical loads are planned, plastering directly on the insulation is allowed. But with wall decoration at the level of a person's height, balcony railing, etc. it is better to play it safe: in such options, the penoplex is pre-primed with adhesive primers with the addition of sand (Betokontakt from Tikkuril, Ceresit CT 19).

They will give the poorly absorbing plane the roughness needed for our purposes.

What is used in the form of amplification? Basically, fiberglass mesh with a mesh of 5x5 millimeters and a density of 140 g / m2. Cost sq.m. such material will be 15-20 rubles.

Insulation from the outside

Gypsum perfectly does its own duties in the dry air of the living room, but high humidity and even more rain are contraindicated for it. For external insulation, cement-based compounds are used.

Note: it is strongly not recommended to use ordinary cement-based plasters on penoplex. In this variant, special adhesives for expanded polystyrene are used (for example, in the choice of Ceresit, this is CT 85 plaster-adhesive mixture). The use of cementitious tile adhesive is permitted.

Adhesive for expanded polystyrene from the Ceresit company.

Priming with adhesive primers in this option is quite possible, but not considered simply mandatory: the cement laitance gets into the material for insulation deep enough to guarantee a strong adhesion.

What is the plaster reinforced with? Fiberglass mesh, but not the first one, but alkali-resistant. Instructions due to the fact that cement is a pronounced alkaline medium: a simple mesh will simply dissolve in it.

Also: the plastered surface, both in the middle of the room and on the outside, is primed for painting or cladding with any other option that comes in with acrylic primer.

Technology

So, how to plaster penoplex with your own hands?

  1. The joints between the insulating panels are filled with foam. The squeezed-out foam residues are cut off after it hardens. Plastering the joints means making cold bridges; it is also undesirable to leave voids: in suitable places, the plaster will be very easy to press through, and it is necessary to remember about the transfer of heat due to convection.

The joints between the panels are filled with foam for installation.

  1. When facing with gypsum, the penoplex is finished with an adhesive primer. The work lasts after it is completely dry.
  2. The mixture - gypsum or cement - is diluted according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

It is necessary to pay attention: does not depend on the composition of the plaster, the dry mixture is poured into the water of the required volume, and not water is poured into the mixture. In another version, it will be quite difficult to get rid of undissolved lumps at the bottom.

  1. Cut off a strip of fiberglass about a meter long. It is rather difficult to glue a large area at a time: the glue dries very quickly.
  2. We apply the plaster mixture with a medium (width 30-35 cm) with a spatula on a section of the heat insulator approximately 90x90 cm in size. The thickness is about 3 mm. We intentionally leave the edges of the fiberglass mesh not glued: the strips should overlap.
  3. We press the mesh into the glue and level it from the center to the edges. We repeat with the next section.

The mesh must be completely pressed into the adhesive layer.

  1. When the entire wall is glued, and the glue is completely dry, it is best to roughly sand the inevitable blemishes. The work is done manually, using a plastic or wood float with a sanding mesh.
  2. Apply a cover 3 mm layer, which will completely hide the reinforcement. After drying, the cons are overwritten again.
  3. We prime the surface for finishing.

For the finished cladding, water-based vapor-permeable paints, trellises (of course, in the middle of the room) or textured plaster for decorative work are used.

Textured plaster will equip the plastered surface.

Conclusion

As you can see, the technology of work does not require any special skills and extensive experience. construction works... More personally about how to plaster penoplex, the video in this article will tell. Good luck!

Plastering technology

Penoplex plastering technology consists of several stages. Let's consider what these stages are below.

Mix preparation

For penoplex plaster, many experts recommend using a special mixture. Its consumption for gluing the mesh and leveling the walls will be 4 kg per 1 square meter and 6 kg per 1 square meter, respectively. In order to knead the mixture, it is recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions, which are indicated on the package. It should be noted that for some manufacturers they may differ slightly.

Application of the first layer of plaster

First of all, the mesh should be fixed on the penoplex, in order to better adhere the plaster to the penoplex. The mesh should be used for exterior facade work with a density of at least 140 g per 1 m². First of all, the mesh must be applied to the corners, if you do not have corners specially designed for these purposes. To apply it, cut a strip of mesh at least 30 cm wide and about 1 m long. The cut strip must be folded exactly in the middle to form an edge. In the next step, apply plaster with a layer thickness of 2 mm. After applying the plaster, press the mesh down with a trowel and smooth from top to bottom.

After you glue the corners, nets, you need to repeat the procedure with the rest of the wall. Apply the plaster to the wall, place a mesh on top of it and smooth with a trowel from top to bottom. Make sure that the mesh is well pressed into the plaster mix. If necessary, apply an additional layer of plaster over the mesh. The joints between the mesh strips must be well glued together, for this reason it is recommended to overlap them.

Applying a leveling layer of plaster

After the plaster is dry, grout it with an emery cloth or plastic float. After the grouting procedure, the entire wall surface must be leveled. To do this, a leveling mixture is laid out on a long one and applied to a surface with a thickness of no more than 3 mm.

After you have applied the leveling compound, it must be rubbed in the same way as was used for grouting. plaster mesh... But it is recommended to carry out the grouting procedure no earlier than 24 hours after the application of the second layer of plaster. When grouting, try to achieve the most even surface, since it is on it that the decorative plaster will subsequently be laid.

Important before proceeding with the application decorative plaster, the wall must be carefully primed. It is recommended to do this with a short-nap roller, as it does not leave streaks on the wall surface.

Fine finishing

At the last stage, the penoplex is finished with decorative plaster. To do this, using a spatula, decorative plaster is applied to a small area in an even layer. And only after that, with the help of a sponge or a float, a decorative texture is formed. Depending on the temperature and humidity of the air, the drying time of the plaster may differ. It usually exceeds 72 hours.

It should also be noted that the drying time depends on the type of plaster used and it is noted in the instructions on the package. After the plaster is dry, it can be covered with a protective varnish or various facade paints.

Now let's look at a few tips to help you avoid possible trouble:

  1. If you are plastering penoplex near the doorway, it is recommended to bring the solution a little "flush".
  2. If, after plastering the wall, you have a little mortar left, you do not need to smear it on the dry wall, since over time the new layer can move away from the old one. This is due to the temperature and thickness of the plaster layer.
  3. The optimum temperature for applying plaster ranges from +10 to +20. degrees Celsius.

Sable fur coat for home: characteristics of penoplex and its advantages

Penoplex is a heater made in a special extrusion unit that appeared in America more than 50 years ago. The material is produced in slabs of different thicknesses, which outwardly resemble foam plastic. It is perfect for insulating buildings, both outside and inside, as it has a number of advantages. It demonstrates excellent specifications, for example, such:

  • Durability;
  • wear resistance;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • security;
  • density;
  • compressive strength;
  • moisture resistance;
  • frost resistance;
  • not susceptible to decay;
  • biological passivity;
  • ease of installation (here is the article);
  • soundproofing;
  • low thermal conductivity;
  • resistance to the harmful effects of chemical factors;
  • the possibility of plastering, painting, pasting;
  • unattractiveness to rodents (they hate this material, although there are exceptions).

Penoplex is ideal for insulating walls from the street and indoors, foundations, floors, ceilings, roofs. For such a luxurious fur coat, your house will say: "Thank you!"

Plastering to be or not to be?

Plastering is a type of finishing work involving the application of a mortar consisting of binders - cement, lime, sand, gypsum mixtures, to create a flat and smooth surface.

So, all this is understandable. But why do we need penoplex plaster? It's simple, the outer layer:

  • Protects insulation from the destructive effects of mechanical, thermal, chemical and climatic factors;
  • guarantees fire safety;
  • improves heat-insulating and sound-insulating properties;
  • smoothes surface imperfections;
  • gives the room a wonderful appearance.

So is it possible to plaster Penoplex? Naturally. Even necessary.

Mixes for plastering: types and advantages

For facing the foam, decorative plaster is used. It happens:

  • Acrylic;
  • mineral;
  • silicone;
  • silicate.

Acrylic blend

Acrylic plaster is an artificial polymer raw material, it contains a mineral filler, coloring pigments, various additives, acrylic mixtures. The composition is distinguished by the richest color gamut, the widest choice of textures, a reasonable price and excellent technical characteristics - elastic, durable, vapor-permeable, moisture-resistant, etc.

Mineral composition

Facade mineral plaster is the leader in sales. The mixture consists of crushed granite or marble, Portland cement, lime. The components give the plaster excellent technical characteristics. but color palette cannot boast of an abundance of shades. Well, but it is inexpensive.

Silicone mixture

Silicone-based plaster is ideal for both facades and interior walls... It is durable, safe, biologically inert, durable and odorless. In addition, it is indispensable when working with the cellular structure of the foam. It is also presented in a wide range of colors and a huge variety of textures. But the price bites her.

Silicate composition

Plaster based on liquid glass is not afraid of fungi, microbes, snow, rain, frost, heat, dirt. It resists the whims of climatic, chemical, thermal, mechanical factors. However, the color palette is scarce, but the price is acceptable.

Each composition is good in its own way. Do not forget that properly plastered walls insulated with penoplex will delight the eye for many years!

General information

Penoplex is a good heat and sound insulation material. True, contrary to the assertions of many sellers, its thermal insulation qualities do not exceed the characteristics of foam. Of course, there is a difference, however, it is within the margin of error.

The advantage of penoplex is that it is stronger. However, at the same time, its surface is smoother, which requires a special approach to plastering. In particular, it is required to use a reinforcing mesh, an adhesive primer of the "concretecontact" type, and a special adhesive as a plaster.

You can often hear from home craftsmen that they have successfully plastering penoplex with ordinary plaster and without a grid. However, more often than not, such work has to be redone. Even if the composition seizes on such a surface, then very quickly it will begin to crack and flake off, so you should not risk it.

Plastering technology

Penoplex plastering process includes the following steps:

  • surface preparation;
  • reinforcement;
  • decorative plastering and painting.

Below we will take a look at all these stages.

Preparation

So, before plastering penoplex, you must perform the following steps:

  1. first of all, it is necessary to fill the gaps between the insulation plates, which may appear during its installation. To do this, you can use polyurethane foam or special foam for insulation systems, for example, Ceresit CT-84. The cost of a can (850 ml) is ~ 600 rubles;
  2. then you need to make sure that the surface covered with foam is flat. To do this, you can use a long rule and a building level. All protruding areas should be rubbed with a special float.

At this stage, it is often required to deepen some of the caps of the umbrella dowels below the surface of the insulation. If it is not possible to score them, it is necessary to cut off the cap with a clerical knife and drive another dowel next to it, having previously drilled a hole for it;

  1. at the end of the work, the surface of the insulation must be primed with the composition "Betonkontakt", for example, from manufacturers such as Ceresit, VIOLUX, Feidal or others. On average, the price of a primer is 700-1000 rubles per 15 liters.

Before applying, the composition must be shaken and poured into a flat container. Then it must be moistened in the liquid paint roller, squeeze it slightly and apply the primer to the surface in an even layer, avoiding drips and accumulation of liquids in individual areas;

  1. after the surface has dried, the primer is applied again.

Advice! If there are wide enough gaps between the sheets of foam, they can be filled with debris of insulation.

This completes the process of preparing the foam for plastering.

Reinforcement

The next step is reinforcement, which is done in this order:

  1. before plastering the penoplex, cover the dowel caps and other recesses in the heat insulator;
  2. then you need to stick on the outer corners of the aluminum perforated corners... The glue is used the same as for gluing the mesh - Ceresit ST 83, Glims KF, KREISEL 210 or others. The average cost of the compositions is 350-600 rubles per bag of 25 kg;
  3. then it is necessary to cut out the fiberglass reinforcing mesh, taking into account the fact that the canvases are glued overlapping each other about 10 cm, as well as with a twist at corners of about 10 cm;
  1. then an adhesive composition with a thickness of about 3 mm is applied to the surface. In consistency, it should be slightly thinner than the manufacturer recommends. The fiberglass mesh is immediately glued to the treated area using a wide spatula or bevel.

It is more convenient to work from top to bottom. At the same time, you need to process a small section of the wall with glue so that it does not have time to grab before the mesh is glued;

  1. after gluing the mesh, another layer of glue is applied to the surface, which is leveled with a wide spatula. In fact, it acts as a rough plaster.

Advice! If the fiberglass mesh is stiff enough that it cannot be folded neatly at the corners, then liquid glue should be applied to the folded area, as a result of which the canvas will become more elastic.

Finishing

As a rule, the walls are insulated from the outside, so the instructions for finishing the penoplex look like this:

  1. first of all, two layers of primer are applied to the surface again;
  2. then, with the help of a wide spatula or a bevel, after the soil has dried, decorative plaster is applied;
  3. when the plaster begins to set, it is rubbed with a small one;
  4. after the decorative plaster dries, most often the surface is covered with water-dispersion facade paint.

This completes the process of plastering the penoplex with your own hands. I must say that sometimes insulation is performed indoors. In this case, after reinforcement, a regular putty is applied to the surface, and then decorative trim, for example, wallpaper is pasted or walls are painted.

Output

As we found out, the process of filling the foam is quite simple. The main thing is to have some skills in working with tools such as a spatula or a mala, and also to follow the sequence described above.

The video in this article contains additional information on the topic of plastering penoplex. If after reading the material you have any questions, you can ask them in the comments, and we will be happy to answer them.

nashaotdelka.ru

Do I need to plaster

The structure of the foam makes it a rather tough material, but it is not enough to withstand the installation of external finishing. Under mechanical stress, it is easy to wash it, which will reduce the insulation layer. With prolonged heating of the foam, which consists of polystyrene granules, emission of harmful substances may begin. In this case, the plaster will provide an additional layer of foam, which will prevent this process. Continuous exposure ultraviolet rays coupled with changes in temperature and humidity, the insulation can become unusable without it having to be finished. A layer of plaster will additionally protect the penoplex from the possibility of fire when exposed to a fire source from the outside.

How to plaster

Manufacturers who are engaged in the manufacture of adhesives for gluing penoplex also made sure that a special mixture for plastering was released. Penoplex facade plaster can be purchased from Stolit, Ceresit and Ecomix manufacturers. On the packaging of each product, instructions are given on what proportions should be for plastering penoplex. These guidelines must be followed in order for the mortar to achieve the required strength. For mixing, it is better not to use improvised means, but to use a mixer, it will allow you to achieve high uniformity. For different applications, the glue must have a different consistency. When installing the mesh, its density should be higher, and when leveling it should be lower.

Preparatory stage

The surface of the insulation is very smooth, therefore, before plastering the penoplex, it is necessary to do some preparatory work. The first step is to carefully examine the seams of the penoplex. During installation, they had to be filled with adhesive. If this has not been done, then you need to walk and seal them with foam. Ceresit CT-84 would be an excellent option, but regular polyurethane is also suitable. This is an important step, if not followed, then the finish can crack over time due to the presence of voids. The next step is to monitor the flatness of the plane. The wall should not have drops and protrusions. To verify this, you need a rule with a length of 3 meters. It must be rearranged to different points, observing the differences.

If there is a protruding fungus, then it is necessary to try to drown it by tapping. If it is impossible, you will need to cut off his cap and hammer another one next to it. If there is a convex part of the insulation itself, it is necessary to clean it with a float. To increase the adhesion of the glue to the insulation, it is necessary to make it a little rough. To do this, you can use various available tools. Simply put, it needs to be scratched. Before plastering the penoplex, a primer is applied. Shake it well and pour it into a convenient container where the roller can fit. The application layer should be such that there are no drips. After the first layer dries, another layer is applied.

Installation of the mesh

An important component that can give the required rigidity to the insulation is a special mesh. Therefore, it must be fixed before plastering the penoplex. It is necessary to acquire one that has sufficient resistance to the effects of various building materials... The cells in it should be as small as possible, since such a mesh has great resistance to mechanical stress. In addition to the mesh for the penoplex, you will need metal corners that are mounted on the outer corners. First of all, the glue is applied to the caps of the penoplex mounts, they should not interfere in the process.

A wide spatula and a notched trowel are required for glue application. Using an ordinary spatula, the surface is covered with an adhesive. Its layer should be no more than 3 mm. Penoplex must be completely covered with no gaps. After that, it is necessary to walk a notched trowel along the plane. It will allow you to remove excess glue. The mesh is cut depending on the length and height of the surface to be plastered. It is applied to the glue and pressed into it a little using a conventional spatula. To do this, a spatula just needs to be carried out from above. The solution that was applied to the penoplex through the cells will be forced through and form a homogeneous mass, covering the mesh on top.

Individual mesh strips are stacked without gaps. There should be an overlap of at least 10 cm between them.It will be more convenient to work if you apply no more than one meter of the composition at a time. Metal corners for putty will simplify the process of corner processing. If their use is not planned, then you will need to cut off a strip of mesh with a width of 30 cm. It bends exactly in the middle so that a rosary angle is formed. After that, it is applied and recessed into the composition. After covering the entire surface, you must wait until it is completely dry. A video about gluing the mesh can be seen below.

After drying, the surface is trowelled. To do this, you will need special polishers on which you can attach sandpaper. In a circular motion that will be directed counterclockwise, it is necessary to process the entire wall. For personal safety, it is better to use goggles, gloves, and a respirator that will prevent dust from entering the respiratory tract. The next stage of external plastering of the foam is the application of a leveling layer. For this, the same composition is used on which the mesh was glued. The layer is also no more than 3 millimeters, and you need to work with a straight spatula.

Final stage

After one day after applying the leveling layer, it is necessary to repeat the grouting procedure. You shouldn't wait too long for this process, because the composition will be quite solid and the task will become more complicated. In this case, you should be careful that no grooves form on the plaster for the penoplex during the grouting process. After grouting the plaster, which is applied to the facade using penoplex, it is necessary to prepare the surface for further finishing. For this, the plaster is covered with a primer. His choice will depend on how the foam will be finished further. If desired, paint the surface with water-based paint for exterior decoration you will need a soil that will bind all the grains of sand, forming a perfectly flat surface.

If the plans include the presence of a bark beetle or another type of finish, then the primer should contain quartz additives. They will contribute to the perfect fixation of the finish. It is necessary to apply a primer on the plastered insulation penoplex so that there are no drips. At proper preparation surfaces with a foam finish will not be difficult. The composition is mixed with water in the required proportions. After that, it is applied with a spatula to the wall. Its layer will depend on the size of the constituent grains. Grouting or finishing the finish is done using various tools. The pattern to the bark beetle, for example, is given by the direction of movement of the trowel.

After drying, the finishing layer can be covered with paint or a protective layer that will prevent it from cracking. Interior decoration is produced according to the same algorithm, but the finishing layer can be, for example, tile... It is necessary to glue it on a special glue. It is advisable to choose the same manufacturer as the glue that was applied to the penoplex. Or be sure that various compositions will interact well with each other. A video about finishing can be seen below.

How to plaster penoplex?

First, let's figure out what mixtures are used for plastering foam. Most often for this purpose, universal mixtures of such leading manufacturers as Ceresit, Ecomix, Stolit are purchased. We prepare the mixture, strictly following the instructions, the only nuance that should be taken into account is the consistency. For gluing the plaster mesh, the consistency of the mixture should be slightly thinner than the manufacturer advises.

For the leveling layer, the mixture is made so liquid that it practically flows off the trowel. For gluing the mesh, approximately 4 kg of the mixture is consumed per one square meter. The leveling layer requires 6 kg of mix per square meter.
When your solution is ready, you can proceed directly to the plastering process itself.

Penoplex plaster, process

Wall plastering is a process that involves starting the walls and leveling them using wet mixes. The process of work itself can be divided into several stages.

Stage one. Preparation.

At this stage of work, you should thoroughly grout the foam in order to avoid any irregularities and depressions and bumps. You should not rush, because the success of the whole process will depend on how well you do your job.

Second phase. Bonding plaster mesh - reinforcement. This is a very important stage and if you skip it, then in the future, a layer of plaster applied directly to the penoplex, without the use of a facade mesh, will undergo various cracks and will be short-lived.
On the prepared surface of the penoplex we apply a layer of glue mixture, no more than 2-3 ml thick, and glue the mesh onto it.

Do not forget about some of the nuances that are very important when performing the work of this stage:
- the mesh should be pressed into the applied universal compound no more than half, while the entire mesh surface should be completely immersed in the adhesive mixture. The mixture should be applied in stages. This is usually done in strips no more than one meter wide (the standard width of the facade mesh);
- the facade mesh should be glued only to a fresh composition, while it should be trampled down with a smooth trowel;
- the strips should overlap each other. The allowance must be made at least 10 cm. Particular attention must be paid to pasting the corners, from which it is advised to start work on reinforcement. In order to properly glue the corners, take a strip 30 cm wide and about a meter long, bend it in half to form a clear ridge in the middle, and in this state, attach it to the corner and press it into the adhesive composition.

Fourth stage. After your reinforcement layer is completely dry, you need to take care of grouting over the entire surface of the facade mesh. To do this, you need to arm yourself with a plastic grater with an emery cloth.

Rub in a circular motion, without using for this special efforts... The direction of movement is counterclockwise.

Fifth stage: apply a leveling layer. For this purpose, the same universal mixture is used as for reinforcement. Apply the mixture with a spatula, evenly distributing it over the entire surface. In this case, the thickness of the layer should not exceed three millimeters.

Sixth stage. Finalization
This stage is the final one in the process of plastering the foam. It consists in grouting the entire surface. This should be done in the same way as grouting the reinforcing layer, and also only after the leveling layer is completely dry. Here it is important to remember the drying time of the mixture.
Grouting should be started at the end of one day. In the cold season, you can give extra time. It is also not worth delaying the process, since usually at the end of four days the mixture can harden so much that it will simply be impossible to grout.

After you have completely rubbed the surface of the walls, the plastering process will be completely completed and you can proceed to the next type of work - putty.

Is it possible to putty penoplex?

Putty is the finishing of walls using special putty mixtures. Most often, for these works, acrylic or powder putty is used, intended for facade work.

What finishing putties are there?

All the putties of the Ceresit brand have proven themselves the most, but if you trust another manufacturer, you can also use putties from another company. The putty should be selected based on the surface on which it will be applied. For wall putty, there are both powder mixtures and pasty ones. Paste mixtures, in turn, are subdivided into acrylic, adhesive, silicone, latex, oil and combined. For penoplex, acrylic and powdery putty has proven itself well.

When choosing a putty mixture for facade work, first of all, you need to pay attention to the binders in it, and how high-quality these substances are. Depending on the quality of the bonding element, the putty can be very resistant or, conversely, unstable to various weather conditions: cold, damp, heat, frost.
So, for example, if later you plan to paint the facade, then you can use a good quality Ceresit CT-225 putty, which is a good base for painting and has such qualities as frost resistance, impact resistance and moisture resistance. Having picked up a high-quality putty, you can be sure that over time your finish will not crack or crumble.

Also, when choosing a putty for your facade, consult with the seller so that he can help you choose the one that is moisture resistant and not afraid of temperature changes, otherwise you will simply waste money and time on outdoor work. It is important to remember that those putties that are intended for interior work are completely unsuitable for the facade, so you should not save so that you do not have to redo the work.

The process of applying putty on the wall. Putty preparation

If you decide to use a powder putty, then first it should be diluted. To do this, put water in a bucket (a little less than half) and carefully pour in the powder, stirring continuously with a mixer. The consistency should be approximately similar to mashed potatoes.
After the mixture reaches the desired consistency, it should be left in a calm state for 5 minutes, and then beat again and you can start working. Acrylic plaster is applied to the wall immediately without prior preparation.

The process of applying putty on the wall

To apply the putty, a very wide spatula should be used, on which the mixture is placed with a small, narrow spatula that fits freely in the bucket. When finishing, it is very important that each new finishing area merges with the previous one, previously putty. The joints should be almost invisible, so if you are not sure of your skills, then it is better to invite a specialist for this work, who will do everything quickly and efficiently.

Before applying the putty, do not forget to treat the wall with a special primer, which will give additional waterproofing. The layer of putty to be applied should not exceed 5 ml; after it has completely dried, the entire surface should be trowelled. Rub in a circular motion counterclockwise, using an abrasive mesh. Do not forget that grouting should be done no earlier than 3-4 hours after applying the mixture. After finishing grouting, you need to apply a primer again, this will help get rid of dust particles on the surface of the walls and make the surface of the facade perfectly flat.

Upon completion of the drying of the primer, the next process of work begins - painting.

Can Penoplex be painted? How to paint?

The finish of the insulation will be more durable and aesthetically pleasing if it is subjected to the dyeing process. But be careful: not all putties benefit from staining, so read the instructions on the packaging of the applied putty.
In the instructions, you probably should find all the answers to your questions: is it possible to use paint, and what composition the paint should have in order to ideally match your putty. When choosing a paint, the chemical characteristics of the insulation itself should also be taken into account, since not all paint is suitable for penoplex. Only if you choose the right paint, taking into account all the nuances, your facade will be durable and of high quality.

Choice of paint

Some facade paints are capable of destroying penoplex, so the choice should be made, guided, first of all, by physical and chemical characteristics insulation and paint.

Which paints should you not choose?

For penoplex, paints that contain the following substances are not suitable: benzene, toluene, xylene, acetone, coal and polyester resins, gasoline, kerosene, drying oil.

When dyeing penoplex, in no case use solvents such as acetone, kerosene, gasoline, white spirit, all these substances practically corrode the insulation.

Penoplex paints
1. Mineral paints. They contain lime and cement, which are absolutely safe for insulation, and therefore they can and should be used. Mineral paints do not contain any of the harmful substances, so the facade of the building will not be affected at all.
2. Facade material based on silicate glass. The composition of this material also does not pose any threat to the decoration of the building and, of course, to the insulation.
3. Water-based paint for external work. Paints in this category are also not prohibited for penoplex, the only nuance that is worth remembering when choosing a water-based paint is that it should be designed specifically for facade work, only in this case it will be highly resistant to moisture and other weather influences.

Water-based paints have the following advantages:

- one of the most significant benefits it is their environmental friendliness. They are completely safe for the human body, so no additional precautions are required when working with them;
- the surface covered with them has increased resistance to aggressive environmental factors;
- have a water-repellent effect;
- are resistant to dirt;
- low level of water absorption, this advantage is also a very significant factor when choosing a paint for penoplex;
- a large assortment colors, which makes it possible to paint the facade of the house in any color and shade;
- low cost. Thanks to this advantage, water-based paints are becoming more popular;
- the ratio of price and quality is also a decisive factor when choosing a paint.

Penoplex features

Synthetic polystyrene foam products have been made for a long time, for over 70 years. Penoplex differs from traditional boards in the production technology in which extrusion is used. Blowing agents are initially added to the polymer to ensure an even distribution of cavities throughout the mass. As a result, after extrusion, a structure with closed microscopic cells is formed, the size of which does not exceed 0.2 mm.

The main qualities of the slabs are as follows:

  • low density;
  • light weight;
  • well-pronounced ability to retain heat;
  • minimal tendency to absorb moisture.

With all its advantages, the material requires increased attention due to its high flammability and poor vapor permeability. It is necessary to use penoplex correctly, taking into account the obligation to ensure good ventilation of the walls and the need for especially strict adherence to fire safety rules. To protect against external influences, plaster is applied to the penoplex.

Why plaster

Plastering is a necessary part of finishing work, allowing you to safely invest in thermal insulation without fear of its destruction in the future.

External plaster protects the facade from wind, precipitation that can damage the material. The inner plaster layer on extruded expanded polystyrene can serve as an additional decorative finish.

Penoplex is a durable polymer, nevertheless, with strong local mechanical loads, dents can form on it, due to which the appearance of cracking on the sheets is possible. If the coating is plastered, its impact resistance will increase, and an additional layer of protection of the synthetic board from UV rays will appear.

A heat-insulating coating made of foam sheets has joints, which are usually sealed with polyurethane foam. To form a perfectly flat surface, to protect the seams from aging, plaster should be applied on top of the sheets and seams.

Required tools and materials

In order for the matter to argue easily and quickly, you need to think through everything in advance, collect the necessary materials, aids, tools.

There are different brands of plaster mixes, priming agents that have a similar basic composition, which does not exclude the presence of small features in the nature of impurities. For wall decoration, the room as a whole, it is advisable to stock up on a sufficient amount of material from one manufacturer. This will exclude the possibility of incompatibility of the mixtures, they will ideally be combined with each other in the work.

Advice! Prepare tools for mixing the plaster mixture in advance. There are many options: from an ordinary long wooden spatula or spatula to a drill with a special attachment. Find a good, comfortable spatula with an ergonomic handle that allows you to easily move them on the plane.

To improve the adhesion of the penoplex to the pasty mass of plaster, the surface is treated with a metal brush or a needle roller. Roughness will improve adhesion, ensure reliable adhesion of the composition to the insulation.

Finishing outside corners requires special perforated corners and levels to verify correct installation. It is imperative to buy a reinforcing mesh, without which all work loses its meaning. In some places, you will need glue to fix it. Study the composition, recommendations for use in advance. To grout the surface, you need to purchase a plastic float with sandpaper. It is convenient to carry out the final finishing with a roller with a small dense pile.

Types of mixtures

Strength is required from the foam plaster for the facade, it should not change under the influence of precipitation. There are compositions for universal and highly targeted purposes. When choosing, one should take into account all possible types of loads on the coating.

Multifunctional tools

The universal composition can be used at several stages of finishing work. With such plaster, you can fix the penoplex to the wall, then fix the reinforcing mesh on the outside on the sheets. The universal mixture can be used not only for plastering, but also for priming surfaces. The product costs a little more than formulations of a strictly directed action. The higher price is compensated by the possibility of multifunctional use.

Mineral remedies

Popular with masters cement mix, which contains sand and a small amount of polymer filler, which improves the fixing of the material to the surface. Often such plaster is called mineral because of the predominant amount of inorganic components. It is necessary to prepare the mixture in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturers, which often contain instructions on the need to add PVA glue to the mass. If the introduction of additional components is not stipulated in the accompanying documents, there is no need to do this on your own. Some plasters contain gypsum and stabilizers. Such mixtures are very plastic, they stick to the penoplex more slowly.

If there are not enough funds for the purchase of finished plaster, you can make compositions of two components yourself:

  • cement and lime;
  • clay and lime;
  • clay and cement;
  • clay and gypsum.

This is not the most the best solution, especially since the type of clay is fundamental to the quality of the plaster. With the right clay, good quality cement and hydrated lime, the mixture can be quite successful. Mineral compositions can be used to plaster the facade insulation from the outside and putty on the penoplex inside the room.

Acrylic

Mixes based on acrylic polymers are intended primarily for finishing areas located in areas of high humidity, high mechanical stress. The cost of polymer plasters is higher than that of mineral compounds, but their high resistance to external influences justifies the difference in price. Acrylic plasters are highly elastic, which makes them easier to work with.

Silicate

A successful combination of properties is demonstrated by silicate plasters, which do not contain polymer additives, therefore, do not electrify. Silicates pass steam well, do not degrade under the influence of atmospheric moisture, and do not undergo microbiological degradation. This is the most acceptable mixture with which you can plaster both external and internal walls. It is enough to competently process the surfaces once and you can have no problems for many years. The silicate material is environmentally friendly, does not contain harmful impurities, and guarantees the cleanliness of the adjacent air space.

Famous manufacturers

Products from different manufacturers... The most common are the following three trademarks:

  • "Ceresit";
  • Ecomix;
  • "Stolit".

There are imported products and mixtures of other domestic companies, the characteristics of which are always indicated in the attached instructions.

Means "Ceresit" are presented in a large assortment, including all types of plaster: silicate, silicone, acrylic, cement. The products have good performance characteristics, are easy to use due to their elasticity, and are durable.

Ecomix plasters can be used for exterior work or interior walls of premises. The compositions are characterized by environmental safety, moisture resistance. Facade finishing works using plaster from this company should be carried out in the warm season, at temperatures of at least +7 ° C. Mixtures can also be used to eliminate defects: chips, cracks, deformations on old surfaces covered with plaster for a long time.

The assortment of the Stolit company is represented by compositions based on cement, to which stabilizers and modifiers have been added. Due to this, the plaster has high heat resistance, does not react to high and negative temperatures, and adheres well to the penoplex.

Preparation of the solution

Recommendations for the preparation of commercially available mixtures are contained on the packaging and accompanying documents. When buying, you can get additional advice about the features of the funds, the specifics of their preparation.

At self-production plasters should be remembered about the main points. Components taken in accordance with a specific recipe must be sieved and mixed well. It is advisable to check the stickiness of the mass before starting work. If the plaster sticks strongly to the trowel, it will be difficult to apply. In this case, the amount of filler should be increased. If the mixture does not stick at all, the amount of astringent should be increased. Using the method of samples, you should select the average fat content of the mixture, because if the viscosity is excessive, the plaster layer may crack after drying. Insufficiently sticky mixture is not very convenient to work with, forms a layer with low strength.

Installation of reinforcing mesh

Before applying a layer of plaster, penoplex must be reinforced with special nets. For reinforcement the best way polymeric cellular fabrics with a density of at least 140 g / m2 and not more than 160 g / m2 are suitable. The general rule is that the smaller the cells, the better the reinforcing properties. A high-quality mesh with suitable characteristics helps to level and strengthen the surface of the foam.

Note! If you plan to use cement-based plaster, the mesh should be inert to an alkaline environment.

Reinforcement must start from the corners. To do this, cut strips from the mesh, the width of which should not be more than 35 cm, and the length is determined by the length of the corner. The strip is folded in half along the length, the composition is applied to the penoplex for fixing and the mesh is pressed against it.

Reinforcement of the entire wall is performed in a similar way. First, a layer of the fixing mixture (plaster) is laid, then the mesh is pressed against it, smoothed and made sure that it is fixed. The reinforcing fabric should be overlapped, because the areas not covered with a polymer mesh will stand out noticeably against the general background. On top of the cellular coating, a thin layer of the fixing mixture is applied, which ensures its tight fit, strong fixation.

Grouting and leveling

A quality wall finish cannot be rushed. The reinforcing layer must be completely dry before starting the next stage of work. For final drying in winter, knocking may be needed, in summer 4 to 6 hours are enough. When the coating is completely dry before it can be plastered, the surface must be trowelled thoroughly.

This physically demanding job is done with an emery-coated plastic float. Grouting is carried out in a circular motion over the entire area until the surface becomes evenly rough.

Penoplex is an excellent insulation, which is often mounted on external walls building. However, in order for this material to perform its functions efficiently, it is necessary to ensure its protection from external factors. the environment... For these purposes, plaster is most often used. We will consider the features of its application on penoplex below.

Penoplex: features and benefits of using the material

Penoplex or extruded polystyrene foam is widely used as insulation. With its help, it is possible to provide thermal insulation of walls both outside and inside the room, floor, ceiling, floor slabs, foundation, roof, etc.

Among the main advantages of penoplex, we note:

  • very low thermal conductivity, this characteristic provides a decrease in heat losses in the room;
  • resistance to compression, the ability to withstand heavy loads;
  • duration of operation;
  • convenience and ease of installation;
  • affordable cost, which is consistent with its positive characteristics.

However, this insulation has certain disadvantages, namely:

  • low level of vapor permeability;
  • high level of fire safety;
  • resistance to rodents.

Wall plastering on penoplex: features of the choice of material

Before starting work, you should decide on the type of plaster that will be used in the process of finishing the foam. There are several types of plaster solutions:

1. Mineral-based plaster - cement and various polymer additives are used for its manufacture. This type of plaster is characterized by low moisture absorption, resistance to mold and mildew, ease of application and work, and affordable cost. These characteristics make this option ideal for use as a finish for thermal insulation materials.

2. Acrylic-based plaster - this material has high elasticity, excellent resistance to atmospheric precipitation, resistance to ultraviolet radiation. The use of this solution is relevant if the place of its application is under constant or periodic exposure to moisture. Cement plaster, in such places can deform. The cost of acrylic-based plaster mortar is slightly higher than that of cement.

3. Mixtures on a silicate base - this type of plaster is distinguished by high efficiency, elasticity, high antistatic performance, vapor permeability, resistance to atmospheric precipitation. This type of plaster is used both indoors and for facade decoration.

In addition, when choosing a plaster for penoplex, pay attention to the duration of its operation. Acrylic-based plaster has the best performance characteristics. The second on this basis is the silicate type plaster, and less resistant to mechanical stress - mineral-based plaster. The performance indicators of the composition also depend on its texture, than textured plaster, the greater its resistance to the external environment.

There are a large number of manufacturers of plaster on the construction market, which is suitable specifically for penoplex. At the same time, one manufacturer has several options for plastering solutions. Some of them first glue the plates, while others protect them from external factors. Universal formulations perform both functions. We offer an overview of popular manufacturers of plastering compounds for penoplex:

1. The mixture "Ceresit" - differs in a vapor-permeable composition, however, it has low elasticity, therefore it needs additional coloring. Acrylic compositions of this manufacturer differ in front of ultraviolet radiation, however, the vapor permeability of this composition is at a low level. The silicone composition has a long service life and is well tolerated by solar radiation. This manufacturer offers several options for compositions for penoplex, and all of them are of good quality and long service life.

2. Compositions "Ecomix" - used for interior and exterior wall decoration. Among the advantages, we note: moisture resistance, environmental safety. But, Finishing work should be carried out exclusively in the warm season, at a temperature of at least 7 degrees Celsius. These materials are also used to get rid of cracks, deformations and chips on previously plastered surfaces.

3. “Stolit” - high quality cement and various stabilizers and modifiers are used for the manufacture of this composition. Therefore, the material is used in a wide temperature range, has good adhesion, resistance to moisture and frost.

Penoplex plaster technology

In order to ensure proper protection of the building against moisture, ultraviolet radiation, high temperature, you should perform plastering of the walls on foam. This process consists of the following steps:

  • preparation of the mixture on a plaster base;
  • installation of a grid for applying plaster;
  • performing grouting on the walls;
  • coating the walls with a primer;
  • execution of facade plastering on penoplex.

In order to apply the plaster solution to the surface of the insulation, mixtures of different composition are used. However, all of them are intended to work with materials based on expanded polystyrene. Please note that the composition used in the plastering process must be made by one manufacturer. Since some manufacturers create mixtures on the basis of one universal mixture, which only protects the base. Other compositions contain two or more substances, one of which ensures proper adhesion of the plaster solution to the penoplex, and the second creates a protective layer.

With the help of a universal composition, it is possible to stick a plaster mesh on the wall surface. To glue the mesh for one square meter insulation, about 4 kg of a universal composition will be required, if plastering also provides for leveling the surface, then this value increases to six kilograms.

In the process of making a solution for application to insulation, be sure to read the instructions from the manufacturer. If the work is carried out with a plaster mesh, then the consistency of the composition should be more liquid than according to the manufacturer's instructions, thus, it is possible to achieve excellent adhesion between the surface and the plaster.

The composition with which the leveling is performed should be such that it easily drains from the surface of the trowel. After preparing the solution for the foam under the plaster, the process of gluing the mesh follows, which primarily performs the function of additional reinforcement.

In addition, with the help of this mesh, the adhesion between the plaster and the insulation is improved. When choosing this material, we recommend giving preference to the mesh, which is used for working outside buildings. Its density should be from one hundred and forty to one hundred and sixty grams per cubic meter. The evenness of the resulting surface depends on the density of the mesh. However, a mesh that is too dense is not suitable for pasting corners.

Please note: cement is often included in the composition of plaster solutions, therefore, when choosing a mesh for plastering work, you should focus on a material that is resistant to an alkaline environment.

Work should start by pasting the corner sections. In order to stick the mesh, you should cut off a strip that is no more than 35 cm wide, and the length depends on the length of the corner. Fold the strip along the center, dividing it into two halves. Apply the mesh fixing compound with a spatula to the surface, while observing the optimal thickness of its application. It is about 2-3 mm. Place the mesh on a surface, press it down and fix it in the correct position on it.

After gluing the corner sections, the main part of the building should be pasted over with a mesh. To do this, it is most convenient to cut a mesh of 1 m in size.First, using a spatula, the composition is applied to the wall, the layer thickness is about 3 cm.Try to apply the composition not completely to the entire surface, but by 90 cm. Step back on each side along 5 cm to compensate for seams. In order to apply the composition, use a medium spatula, the width of which is 30-35 cm.

Place the mesh on a surface and spread it from the center to the top and bottom. The mesh should adhere well to the surface and be pressed into it. To completely close the mesh, add a little more mixture with a spatula.

After gluing one vertical strip, go to the adjacent area. At the same time, the mesh is laid in such a way that an overlap of at least 6-8 cm is obtained. Joints with corners are also glued in compliance with a certain overlap.

Please note that if at least one section of the wall has a space that the mesh did not hit, then it will stand out even after finishing. Therefore, the wall must be completely covered with mesh.

The next stage of work is the grouting of the mesh. For these purposes, a plastic float is used, on which there is an emery cloth. Grouting is performed only after the composition has completely dried. Drying time is indicated in the instructions from the manufacturer. If the weather is warm, then 4-6 hours is enough for the solution to dry, and in cold weather, you should wait at least a day.

In order to wipe the composition, make physical effort. Do the work in a circular motion.

Plastering the penoplex is the next stage of work. The final layer is leveling. In order to level the surface, it is recommended to use the same universal compound as when applying a protective layer. In order to apply a layer to level the wall, follow these steps:

  • for work, you will need two spatulas: a wide and a small one, using the first tool, the composition is applied to the wall and leveled on it, and the second spatula helps to apply plaster to the surface of a large spatula;
  • using a large spatula, the composition is applied to the surface with uniform movements;
  • the plaster layer should be about three millimeters thick;
  • the application of the solution is carried out in fragments; at the same time, try to ensure that the joints of the fragments do not coincide with the joints of the mesh installed on the surface earlier.

The leveling layer should be trowelled in the same way as the protective layer of plaster.

Please note: the leveling layer is trowelled after 24 hours, after applying the plaster mortar. Do not grout after more than four days. Since the process, firstly, will be very complicated and will take a long time to complete, and secondly, there is a risk of damage to the integrity of the wall.

In order to fix the plaster on the surface of the insulation, a primer is used. Try to choose a composition in which quartz grains are present, in the event that further work will be associated with the application of another decorative plaster layer. If, in the future, you will paint the facade, then it is enough to use a regular primer intended for outdoor work.

Use a short nap roller to apply the primer. Try to avoid streaks on the surface of the walls. After the primer has dried, the process of finishing the walls follows. Its character depends on the individual preferences of the owners of the house. An excellent option is the application of decorative external plaster on the penoplex. The application technology of which is described below:

1. Apply the plaster with a medium to large trowel.

2. Try to apply the plaster evenly, the thickness of its application depends on the size of the grains that are part of the plaster.

3. In order to form a decorative texture, a sponge with large pores or a special float should be used.

4. After plastering the entire surface and after forming the texture, leave the plaster to dry completely.

5. Further, the surface is covered with varnish or paint, while the materials used for painting should be designed for outdoor use. They will help protect the plaster from moisture, temperature changes and other negative environmental factors.

In order for the coating to serve you as long as possible, choose high-quality materials for its finishing.

Thermal insulation materials penoplex and polystyrene, despite their advantages, are subject to the influence of various external factors. Due to increased loads, as well as strong winds, low temperature and sunlight, the thermal insulation properties may deteriorate. To avoid this, it is necessary to carry out an appropriate treatment with facade plaster over foam.

Features of working with material

Penoplex with its characteristics and appearance resembles polystyrene, however, the advantage of the first option is considered increased thermal insulation and stability to external factors. Despite this, the material needs special processing... With a slight pressure, the slab can be pressed through, so it is important to figure out how to plaster foam and foam.

It is important to follow a certain technology. So, all movements should be performed easily and accurately. If you wish, you can preview the corresponding video. If you are not confident in your abilities, contact professionals who have experience in performing such work.

It should be remembered that the surface of the material should not be treated before coating with facade plaster. It is enough to fix the insulation on the wall, after which you need to start finishing.

If you plan to treat the surface of foam and polystyrene, then you need take a responsible approach to the choice of the composition.

  • Mineral plaster, made on the basis of cement and polymers, is characterized by biostability and low water absorption. This material is used to insulate facades.
  • The acrylic version is water-repellent, elastic and UV-resistant. Similar formulations are used at high humidity levels. This also applies to surfaces that may be slightly deformed.
  • The silicate mixture is recognized as the most effective. It is distinguished by vapor permeability, resistance to atmospheric precipitation, anti-static and elasticity. Such material can be applied both outside and inside.

When buying plaster, it is important to consider the service life. This factor depends on the type of surface. If it is smooth, then the composition will not last too long. In any case, the most effective option is recognized as an acrylic mixture, which is very resistant to various mechanical loads.

Manufacturers and prices

In the modern building materials market many lineups presented specially designed for processing foam and polystyrene.

Plaster preparation and application

First of all, you need to decide on the amount of composition. If we are talking about gluing a reinforcing mesh, then approximately 4 kg / m² will be required. This figure when forming the finishing layer will be 6 kg / m².

For self-finishing you will need such tools:

  • a pair of spatulas;
  • special grater;
  • roller;
  • coarse sponge.

Technological process it is customary to break it down into several stages.

  1. First of all, you need to prepare the plaster, taking into account the manufacturer's recommendations. Some craftsmen make a more liquid consistency, which will help reduce the consumption of the mixture.
  2. Then the plaster mesh is fixed. All corners are glued first. After completing this work, it is necessary to smooth the surface with a spatula. It is worth noting that some builders prefer to completely hide the reinforcing material.
  3. When the composition is dry, grout is performed.
  4. After that, it is the turn of the alignment.
  5. Before plastering, the foam and foam plates must be primed.
  6. The last stage assumes a topcoat. So, when the solution is completely dry, the surface is painted or treated with a protective varnish.

The use of facade plaster is considered the preferred option. This is due to the fact that when the foam is glued inside the room, the usable area will decrease. Accordingly, it is customary to make insulation outside. In this case, it is necessary stick to simple guidelines.

When applying plaster to polystyrene or polystyrene foam indoors would need special equipment ... Thanks to him, the work process will be accelerated. The rest of the processing technology remains the same.

Polyfoam, penoplex and other similar materials are characterized by insufficient adhesion. For this reason, it is important to select a good facade plaster that will protect the insulation under adverse conditions. For the coating to be durable, you need to pay attention to the type of composition and its characteristics.

The facade of any house requires high-quality finishing. It not only gives the building an attractive appearance, but also protects from various adverse influences of the surrounding world - from precipitation and direct sunlight.

To give the building an aesthetic appearance and protect the building, it is worth using.

There are many types of this material, the choice can be made based on different parameters.

For example, if the front of the building is covered with foam, it is worth purchasing just such a plaster for the foam.

A coating of such a plan is a high-quality finishing hardened layer, which is formed on the basis of a special plaster solution intended for finishing the facade parts of buildings and structures.

Important! Properly selected and applied plaster allows you to effectively level the surface of the outer walls, potholes and numerous cracks can be repaired, as well as to protect the building and give it a look that fully matches individual taste preferences.

Modern facade plasters are in fairly high demand, since this coating is characterized big amount positive qualities and properties.

Among them are such advantages as:

  1. High strength indicators... Facade plaster is a special shell of the house, thanks to its qualities, it ideally protects the structure from adverse factors.
  2. Frost resistance Is an important advantage for most regions of the country. This indicator must be taken into account, since when frost sets in, the coating will simply crack. Facade plaster for penoplex is able to withstand temperatures up to minus 50 degrees.
  3. Lifetime... The plastering process is quite complicated, but all the time and money spent is fully paid off by the optimal durability of the material. On average, facade plaster can last up to 15 years.
  4. Vapor permeability- the ability to remove condensate. This prevents the process of deterioration of the finish, as well as the formation of mold and mildew.
  5. Easy to install and maintain... If desired, you can apply the plaster yourself, and no special care is required for the material.

Thanks to all the advantages listed above, the plaster not only fits perfectly on the penoplex, but also performs all its decorative and protective functions.

Facade plaster on penoplex and expanded polystyrene - types and features

When building private country houses special heaters are used without fail. Among a large number modern materials Penoplex deserves special attention. It is convenient in the process of operation and is realized at an affordable cost.

Despite these high quality characteristics, even penoplex needs some protection. For this purpose, a special plaster from such manufacturers as "", "Ecomix", "Stolit" is used.

These compositions at the highest level perform the following rather important functions:

  • Effective moisture protection. Plaster, due to its qualities and properties, protects the insulation from destruction;
  • Protection of penoplex from the adverse effects of sunlight;
  • Significant improvement in overall appearance building.

As for manufacturers, it is not worth using different mixtures to cover the same building, since each of them may have a different composition, which will lead to a decrease in the overall quality of the coating.

Universal plaster is consumed as economically as possible from 4 kg / m2 for gluing reinforced mesh and up to about 6 kg / m 2 for a complete leveling of the outer walls of the building.

The mixture must be diluted sufficiently liquid, it must drain from the spatula. At the beginning of the work, a solution is prepared, after which you can proceed to gluing the mesh itself, on which the penoplex plaster will be installed.

Surface preparation for application

The process of plastering the foam is preceded by certain preparatory work. The surface must be carefully leveled, and this can be done by grouting.

With a well-carried out process, you can effectively remove all the bumps and pits. It is at the grouting stage that the surface of the outer walls must be very carefully worked out. This is a very important requirement, since after applying the plaster, all the problems and defects left behind will open to the eye.

Mesh work

After grouting, fastening work is carried out. This is an important and obligatory stage in the plastering performed, since without a mesh, the plaster will quickly crack or just slip... At this stage, you can use a mesh that is designed specifically for facade work. The net weight should be between 140 and 160 g / m2 on average.

It is the density of the mesh that directly determines how even the plaster layer will be.... In other words, the higher the density, the better and smoother the plaster layer will be.

NOTE!

The mesh for facade work must be used alkali-resistant, since cement is often present at the base of the foam.

The acquired mesh is attached with a special adhesive mixture, which is applied with a thickness of 2-3 mm... The composition is simply applied to the surface and the reinforcing mesh itself is immediately applied.

The product must be pressed into the composition by about half, that is, the adhesive mixture must completely cover the surface of the mesh. The glue must be applied gradually, it is important that it has time to fully grab, the mesh itself is attached in small segments.

The mesh must be pressed down with a smooth spatula during application. In this case, the strips must be glued strictly with an overlap, and not less than 10 cm. Everything must be glued very carefully, since non-glued compositions or applying the composition only to the joints will appear even through the finishing finish.

Surface leveling

As soon as the mesh layer is completely dry, the surface can be trowelled. Here, a specially prepared sandpaper or a construction float is used.

This should be done after the coating is completely dry.... The time for this cavity drying depends on the weather. The higher the temperature and the drier the air, the faster the applied plaster will dry.

If the work is carried out during the summer, on average it may take up to three hours... If the building is finished during the cold season, you can start grouting in about a day.

In any case, there is no need to rush, since the plaster will not be of the required quality and appearance. The grout itself is carried out without any effort, it is enough to carry out special circular movements and moreover counterclockwise. The process ends after all defects are completely smoothed out.

After that, the surface is leveled and another layer of plaster mixture is applied. Penoplex plaster is made using the same mixture as in the previous stages. When carrying out these processes, you need to use a spatula with which the mixture will be applied. The plaster layer should be approximately 3 mm thick.

At the end of these works, the final grout is carried out. It begins only after the previous layer has completely dried, this is not less than a day after the last layer has completely frozen.

CAREFULLY!

While waiting for it to dry completely, you should not go to extremes, since you have to wait more than four days, the coating will become very hard, therefore, it will be very difficult to process it.

Facade plastering technology for insulation

If, in the process of finishing the outer walls, it was decided to use a powder putty, first it will need to be thoroughly diluted. To do this, approximately half of the water is collected in the bucket and the powder is carefully poured. In the process of falling asleep, you need to constantly use a special construction mixer. As a result of the work carried out, the mixture should become similar to mashed potatoes.

Once the mixture has acquired the desired consistency, it should be left for about 5 minutes and it is desirable that it be calm. After that, everything is whipped and you can immediately start working. If used, it can be applied to the wall without carrying out any preparatory processes.

Here are some tips to follow:

  1. When applying putty, you need to use a wide spatula, on which the mixture is placed using a small and narrow spatula, which is placed in a bucket.
  2. It is very important to ensure that the new finish is completely merged with the previously treated one.
  3. Care must be taken to ensure that all joints are invisible.
  4. Before applying the putty, do not forget to treat the wall with a special primer. It is she who provides additional waterproofing.
  5. The layer thickness should not be more than 5 mm.
  6. After the layer has dried, it must also be completely wiped off. This process should be carried out no earlier than 3 hours after the mixture was applied.

After carrying out work related to the putty, you need to apply a primer. With the help of this composition, you can effectively remove all dust particles that may be present on the surface of the walls and make the surface as smooth as possible. At the end of these works, you can start painting.

Surface painting

To give the walls the most complete look, many owners. The most important thing to consider here is the type of pre-applied filler. There must be compatibility between it and the paint.

It is very important to avoid paint formulations that contain components such as:

  • Acetone;
  • Benzene;
  • Xylene;
  • Toluene;
  • Drying oil;
  • Resin;
  • Coal tar.

These are components that are quite common for painting materials, but their use is unacceptable, since each of them is capable of destroying penoplex. The best option for painting walls insulated with foam are paints made on the basis of minerals.

They are made from lime or cement, and these components, as you know, do not have the property to react with insulation. Silicate paints are also suitable, which do not harm the penoplex. Fit equally effectively Decoration Materials, which belong to the category of water-based emulsion.

Also, it should be exactly facade paints, since they are characterized by high indicators of reliability and resistance to adverse weather conditions.

Summing up

If it was decided to carry out work on plastering, the subsequent putty of the facade and its painting to be carried out independently, you should definitely follow all the tips and recommendations presented to your attention. It will not be superfluous to consult a professional who will help you choose the best suitable mixture, putty and paint. All compounds used must necessarily comply with the established requirements.

When insulating a house with penoplex, it becomes necessary to plaster it. This process does not pose any complexity, however, it requires strict adherence to technology. Therefore, further we will consider how to properly plaster the penoplex so that the finish does not crack and crumble.

Penoplex process includes the following steps:

  • surface preparation;
  • reinforcement;
  • decorative plastering and painting.

Below we will take a look at all these stages.

Preparation

So, before plastering penoplex, you must perform the following steps:

  1. first of all, it is necessary to fill the gaps between the insulation plates, which may appear during its installation. To do this, you can use polyurethane foam or special foam for insulation systems, for example, Ceresit CT-84. The cost of a can (850 ml) is ~ 600 rubles;
  2. then you need to make sure that the surface covered with foam is flat. To do this, you can use a long rule and a building level. All protruding areas should be rubbed with a special float.

At this stage, it is often required to deepen some of the caps of the umbrella dowels below the surface of the insulation. If it is not possible to score them, it is necessary to cut off the cap with a clerical knife and drive another dowel next to it, having previously drilled a hole for it;

  1. at the end of the work, the surface of the insulation must be primed with the composition "Betonkontakt", for example, from manufacturers such as Ceresit, VIOLUX, Feidal or others. On average, the price of a primer is 700-1000 rubles per 15 liters.

Before applying, the composition must be shaken and poured into a flat container. Then it is necessary to moisten the paint roller in the liquid, squeeze it slightly and apply the primer to the surface with an even layer, avoiding drips and accumulation of liquids in certain areas;

  1. after the surface has dried, the primer is applied again.

Advice! If there are wide enough gaps between the sheets of foam, they can be filled with debris of insulation.

This completes the process of preparing the foam for plastering.

Reinforcement

The next step is reinforcement, which is done in this order:

  1. before plastering the penoplex, cover the dowel caps and other recesses in the heat insulator;
  2. then you need to glue the perforated aluminum corners to the outer corners. The glue is used the same as for gluing the mesh - Ceresit ST 83, Glims KF, KREISEL 210 or others. The average cost of the compositions is 350-600 rubles per bag of 25 kg;
  3. then it is necessary to cut out the fiberglass reinforcing mesh, taking into account the fact that the canvases are glued overlapping each other about 10 cm, as well as with a twist at corners of about 10 cm;

  1. then an adhesive composition with a thickness of about 3 mm is applied to the surface. In consistency, it should be slightly thinner than the manufacturer recommends. The fiberglass mesh is immediately glued to the treated area using a wide spatula or bevel.

It is more convenient to work from top to bottom. At the same time, you need to process a small section of the wall with glue so that it does not have time to grab before the mesh is glued;

  1. after gluing the mesh, another layer of glue is applied to the surface, which is leveled with a wide spatula. In fact, it serves as a rough draft.

  1. first of all, two layers of primer are applied to the surface again;
  2. then, with the help of a wide spatula or a bevel, after the soil has dried, decorative plaster is applied;
  3. when the plaster begins to set, it is rubbed with a small one;
  4. after the decorative plaster dries, most often the surface is covered with water-dispersion facade paint.

This completes the process of plastering the penoplex with your own hands. I must say that sometimes insulation is performed indoors. In this case, after reinforcement, an ordinary putty is applied to the surface, and then decorative finishing is performed, for example, wallpaper is pasted or walls are painted.

Output

As we found out, the process of filling the foam is quite simple. The main thing is to have some skills in working with tools such as a spatula or a mala, and also to follow the sequence described above.
