Is it possible to make a soundproofing of the ceiling. How to make effective soundproofing of the ceiling in an apartment

Even the most imperturbable person can be pissed off if you constantly pester him with annoying noises. Alas, the living conditions in panel houses are such that soundproofing the ceiling in an apartment is not a whim, but a harsh reality. We offer you an overview modern materials with current prices and useful photos, which will allow you to choose the best option for you and save as much as possible large quantity nerve cells.

Criteria for materials

  • environmental safety - no harmful substances during operation;
  • layer thickness - the thinner the better;
  • moisture resistance - the ability of a material to operate for a long time in conditions of high humidity;
  • noise absorption coefficient is the main indicator, the higher - the more preferable the choice seems;
  • weight - this indicator determines the way in which the noise insulation of the ceiling in the apartment will be performed: if it is large enough, then a special frame will have to be built for installation.

What materials are there?

All modern materials that are actively used for soundproofing the ceiling in an apartment are capable of sufficiently preventing the propagation of noise waves in all directions. This means that after installation, not only will you safely stop hearing the active kitchen negotiations of your neighbors from above, but they are no less active yours. However, the point is not only in the kitchen and loud conversations, isn't it?

Mineral wool

  • low cost;
  • good efficiency;
  • frame installation method.

Perhaps the most common option, which has received popular recognition due to the successful combination of a low price and a good level of noise absorption. According to this indicator - up to 85% - there are simply no materials equal to mineral wool among materials of the same democratic cost.

However, for the opportunity to save money you have to pay with the time spent: in order to carry out the installation mineral wool in a city apartment, you must first equip a frame.

Someone will say, they say, you think, how can this somehow frighten? But the matter is far from the complexity of the installation, but the precious centimeters that this very frame takes away from the final height of this or that room.

Add to this the rather large thickness of the layer of the mineral wool itself - and you get a completely bleak picture for an expectedly low apartment in a panel or brick house.

Mineral wool is supplied most often in rolls.

Price it fluctuates within 800-1000 rubles per roll 18 square meters.

You can also read about the use of mineral wool for soundproofing the ceiling in an apartment with a stretch ceiling in our other article.

Basalt slabs

  • democratic price tag;
  • high noise absorption;
  • frame installation method;
  • good moisture resistance.

In fact, in the form of basalt slabs, we have the same mineral wool, pressed for greater convenience of end users. Of course, unlike roll options, such plates are much easier to mount on the ceiling, but still, to soundproof the ceiling in an apartment, you first need to build the same frame, on which the material itself is fixed afterwards.

The thickness of basalt slabs is similar to the thickness of mineral wool, which means that the problem of losing centimeters in height, even if this option is chosen, remains relevant.

Price : 850-110 rubles per package 4, 32 square meters.

Glass wool

  • low price;
  • high rate of noise absorption;
  • poor moisture resistance;
  • low level of security.

Often glass wool is used to soundproof the ceiling in an apartment, however, in terms of the ratio of advantages with disadvantages, this modern material still cannot be considered the best option.

Judge for yourself: in rooms with high humidity - and this is both a kitchen and a bathroom - glass wool can swell and crumble, releasing substances harmful to humans into the space. The fiberglass used to make this material can potentially cause irritation when it comes into contact with the skin - would at least one parent in the world allow such a threat to the health of their child in their own apartment?

In addition, the use of glass wool on the ceiling of an apartment often threatens problems with overheating of the wiring, which also entails serious consequences.

Price - from 600 rubles per roll 15 square meters, but we emphasize that this is an extremely impractical soundproofing material, inferior to alternative solutions in all respects.

Cork

  • high price;
  • perfect sound insulation;
  • thin layer;
  • high level of security;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • non-frame installation method.

In all respects, it is an ideal modern material for use in soundproofing the ceiling in an apartment. Does not require the creation of a special crate, is elementary in installation, friendly both in environmental and in practical terms- can be successfully used even in the wettest rooms.

The only negative is the price. Take a look at the price tags that are now displayed in popular hardware stores - and conclude for yourself whether you can pull such an expensive sound insulator for the ceiling of your apartment.

Wood boards

  • average cost;
  • average insulation;
  • considerable thickness;
  • exemplary environmental friendliness.

It is perhaps appropriate to draw parallels with cork sheets - after all, we are dealing with such an organic material, however, according to a number of characteristics, wood-based panels sold everywhere are noticeably inferior to them. The only gain in price is not commensurate with how much you lose in the most important thing - the level of sound insulation and the height of the room.

Here are the current prices for popular brands of wood-based panels. Study them well, but keep in mind all the disadvantages that we mentioned above.

Styrofoam

  • the simplest installation;
  • light;
  • average level of absorption of noise waves;
  • flammability;
  • emission of harmful substances during operation.

Of all the modern materials available for soundproofing the ceiling, foam is perhaps the most undesirable. And not at all because it is not so good at absorbing sound vibrations - it is simply not entirely safe.

During operation under the influence of the shift temperature regimes or high humidity, it can deform and release harmful substances into the space, which a person can potentially inhale.

In addition, he possesses high flammability- which creates a permanent risk of fire in the apartment.

The only plus of using foam for such purposes is low price.

Average, square meter will cost you from 100 rubles and higher. However, is it possible to allow such a situation that your personal safety and the health of loved ones become a bargaining chip for savings?

Acoustic membranes

  • frame installation;
  • perfect sound absorption;
  • impeccable performance properties;
  • safety and environmental friendliness;
  • heavy weight;
  • high price.

This modern material is made from compounds of rubber, polymers and various minerals and gives a head start in terms of resistance to sound vibrations to everything that we have listed above. If you decide to soundproof the ceiling in an apartment using acoustic membranes, then you will reliably protect yourself from extraneous sounds, and also prevent the active spread of noise coming directly from you.

There are a huge number of options on sale, each of which is perfect for solving the task at hand. Nevertheless, it is better to take a look at the prices first - to re-estimate, do such costs fit into your budget, or do you have to look towards cheaper materials for soundproofing the ceiling in the apartment?

Liquid sound insulators

  • use in the form of an interlayer between sheets of drywall;
  • high price;
  • easier installation in comparison with acoustic membranes;
  • security;
  • reliable noise insulation properties;
  • the convenience of use.

If you do not want to bother with the installation of the acoustic membranes discussed above, then there is a reason to turn your attention to those produced in the form polyurethane foam some liquid materials... Especially if you plan to install a plasterboard suspended ceiling. It is impossible not to note the colossal ease of use - such materials are sold in the form of tubes, which, during direct installation, are sprayed between the sheets of the used drywall.

Look at what liquid materials for soundproofing the ceiling in an apartment are now popular and how much this "pleasure" in general costs.

Conclusion

Of course, for those who have noise insulation of the ceiling in an apartment on the agenda, it is not a problem to find modern materials to complete the task - a wide range of far from the largest hardware store will serve as a vivid confirmation of this. However, choosing the really optimal material for noise insulation from the many possible is a much more difficult task. It seems that our review of the most popular materials for noise insulation of the ceiling in an apartment will serve you as a good navigator, and the prices for modern materials for noise insulation of ceilings that we have brought will save you time and help you more accurately adjust the budget allocated for repair work.

The use of modern soundproofing materials allows you to achieve excellent noise insulation of the ceiling, even in the presence of wooden floors. No building structures give their residents a 100% noise protection guarantee. As a result, the soundproofing of the ceiling in the apartment is very important. It is quite possible to reduce the noise level to acceptable decibels if the soundproofing protection is properly equipped.

What is ceiling sound insulation

Sound absorption and sound insulation are not the same thing. In the first parameter, the degree of reduction in the energy of a sound wave when passing through ceilings or walls is estimated. And noise isolation is how much the pressure of a sound wave decreases when it passes through obstacles in the form of overlaps. Ceiling sound insulation is assessed by residential builders using a specific coefficient (RW) in the frequency range from 100 to 3000 Hz. If RW is equal to one, then the apartment is completely soundproofed. However, this does not happen.

Soundproofing the ceiling in the apartment

If we are talking about how to lower the level of decibels that penetrate into the apartment from external sources, then we are talking about sound insulation. Isolating the entire room from penetrating external sound waves means properly equipping noise protection on the walls, floor and ceiling. Noise insulation of the ceiling in the apartment is carried out using high-tech methods using sound-absorbing materials of a new generation.

Builders distinguish 4 types of noise that need to be dealt with:

  • Impact type noise. Occurs when a sound wave is generated from impacts on floors or partitions. In residential structures, this is the stamping of feet, the noise from the movement of furniture, the work of a punch or drill.
  • Airborne noises appear when sound propagates through the air in conditions of poor sound insulation of walls, insufficient sound absorption by ceilings. It can be loud voices, music, dog barking, birdsong.
  • Noise of a structural type occurs at resonance from high-frequency vibrations of air ducts, elevator shafts. In this case, sound waves can travel very far.
  • Echo, or acoustic noise, occurs in an empty room.

From the neighbors upstairs

People living in the lower apartment suffer from shock and air-type noises coming from the floors above. Soundproofing from neighbors upstairs is often so poorly arranged that putting your ear to the walls, you can hear someone sitting upstairs in a chair. The most successful solution, how to soundproof the ceiling from the neighbors on top, is the arrangement of soundproofing the floors in the upper apartment. This creates a floating floor structure. It is done based on concrete screed with the addition of gypsum, which is laid on a layer of sound-absorbing mineral wool of the Akustik-stop type.

From impact noise

Unfortunately, the neighbors from above do not always agree on the costs of creating a sound-absorbing layer on their floor, so the ceiling soundproofing from impact noise is made independently. The most in a simple way a frameless system device is considered. It consists of two elements - a special sandwich panel, which is mounted directly on the floor, and a drywall sheet, which must be attached to the panel at the end of the work. The installation process and the order of the layers can be seen in the photo.

Under a stretch ceiling

The frame-type system is a conventional stretch ceilings with sound insulation made of gypsum plasterboard or gypsum plasterboard. The advantages of the method include the fact that the surfaces are leveled, primed, all cracks and cracks are sealed in them, and only then the installation and sound insulation of the stretch ceiling is carried out. When arranging sound insulation, it is necessary to overlap sound-absorbing materials, leaving no gaps between them, otherwise all the work will go down the drain, and effective sound insulation will not work.

In a house with timber joists

Wood serves as a very good conductor of sound waves, in addition, over time, such floors begin to creak, therefore, the sound insulation of the ceiling in a house with wooden floors very relevant. To ensure noise reduction, builders lay a layer of sound-absorbing material on the floor of the upper floor, fixing it with plinths, and arrange noise-insulating stretch ceilings on the lower floor from several materials at once, stacked on top of each other in layers.

In a panel house

The situation is worst in panel houses due to the large number of gaps between the panels and the low RW ratio. One ceiling soundproofing in panel house will not help to achieve an effective level of noise reduction, you must also try to isolate the walls and partitions in the apartment from external sounds in order to achieve the desired result.

Noise insulation materials for the ceiling in the apartment

Depending on the tasks set, the materials that can provide silence in the apartment are divided into two types: sound-insulating materials for ceilings and sound-absorbing ones. The effect of noise-insulating materials is to reflect the sound wave back to the source, so they have high density... These include sheets of drywall, fiberboard and chipboard.

Sound absorbing materials dissipate sound throughout their entire volume, reducing the number of decibels by about half. These include:

  • Soft materials based on felt, mineral wool, fiberglass. Their RW reaches 70%. They are produced in rolls with various reliefs - in the form of pyramids, wedges, waves.
  • Compressed semi-rigid materials are composed of fiberglass, mineral wool or polyurethane based boards. Their RW reaches 75%.
  • Solid materials based on vermiculite or pumice. Their disadvantages include relatively low sound insulation.
  • Sandwich panels, which are a "layer cake", inside which there are liquid or soft sound insulators, and outside - solid.

Acoustic ceiling panels

Soundproofing from upstairs neighbors can be achieved using the following soundproofing ceiling panels:

  • Phonestar, which are wooden sheets with a mineral core between them. Their RW sound insulation index reaches 75%.
  • Akustik-stop - fire-resistant polyurethane panels with cells.
  • Akustik-metal sli - sandwich panels consisting of lead plates with polyurethane inserts. They have a high RW ratio of up to 80%, but their cost is high.
  • Comfort premium - sandwich panels made of MDF, filled with expanded polystyrene or glass-magnesia sheet.

Rolled ceiling insulation

It is possible to ensure silence in an apartment not only with the help of bulky plates or panels. Roll-up soundproofing of the ceiling is gaining great popularity. This method is the gluing of ceilings with special materials, which are high-density membranes made of non-woven polyester fibers. These include:

  • Topsilent bitex;
  • Polipiombo;
  • Tecsound (Texound);
  • Green glue
  • There is no sound from the acoustician;
  • Eco-silence will sound.

Soundproofing ceiling without frame

With the help of special panels called ZIPS, frameless soundproofing of the ceiling is made. They are sandwich panels with a thickness of 120 mm, consisting of GPLs, inside which there is staple fiberglass. Each panel has special vibrating units for fixing to ceiling slabs. After installing the ZIPS, it is necessary to complete the arrangement of sound insulation by attaching it to the gypsum board.

Sound insulation boards for the ceiling

Arrangement of soundproofing with soundproofing tiles for the ceiling is in great demand. The main advantages of Shumanet-BM, EcoAcoustic and Knauf basalt-based mineral slabs are the ecological purity of the material, which is safe for human health. Mineral slabs are resistant to combustion, decay, moisture. They are not eaten by rodents, fungus does not grow on them, and the service life of the minelabs is comparable to the resource of the overlap on which they are attached.

Self-adhesive soundproofing for the ceiling

A new innovative development - a cheap adhesive strip made of specially treated polyethylene Izolontape - will help in creating a self-adhesive sound insulation for the ceiling. This way of creating silence in your home is convenient, practical, and inexpensive. The undoubted advantages of arranging noise insulation using self-adhesive tape is its environmental friendliness.

Ceiling plug for noise insulation

Slabs made of crushed and pressed oak bark will only help to improve the thermal insulation properties of the room, and cork sound insulation on the ceiling will be ineffective against external shock and air sound waves. In this way, you can only protect your neighbors from the sounds coming from your apartment. Cork boards can only be used in combination with other soundproofing materials.

What is the best sound insulation for the ceiling

How to choose the best sound absorption system for an apartment if the materials that guarantee protection against shock and air sound waves are so diverse? The best soundproofing of the ceiling is achieved when all the technologies were followed during the installation of slabs, sandwich panels or roll sound insulation, and the installation of soundproofing systems was carried out by professionals. If there is even the slightest gap between the panels or slabs, then we can say that all the work was wasted - after all, the sound will still penetrate the cracks and spread throughout the room.

Ceiling soundproofing price

Since the materials and scope of work to isolate the room from the penetration of external sounds are different, the prices for soundproofing the ceiling in Moscow can vary. Sound-absorbing materials can be bought in the online store or ordered in the catalogs of building markets. The price of soundproofing the ceiling in the apartment is shown in the table:

Ceiling noise insulation, types of noise, methods of eliminating them, used soundproofing materials, noise isolation technologies for base, suspended and stretch ceilings.

The content of the article:

Distinctive signs of comfort and coziness in a house are considered to be a harmonious combination of the interior with fashionable furniture, high-tech equipment and a variety of decor items. However, this is often not enough if extraneous sounds in the room prevent its visitors from experiencing positive emotions. In such cases, it becomes necessary to isolate the enclosing structures from the penetration of noise from the street, from adjacent rooms or from neighbors above.

Types of noise and methods of eliminating them

There are two types of indoor noises:
  • Air... Such noises are the result of vibrations in the air from a powerful source, such as sounds from the loudspeaker systems of a musical center or just loud speech. Airborne noise travels through cracks, cracks, and even electrical outlets.
  • Structural noise... They arise when mechanical impacts on the enclosing structures of the house: movement of furniture on the floor, drilling holes, falling massive objects, etc. Since the speed of sound transmission through solids is 12 times higher than through air, these noises travel over long distances. For this reason, for example, hammering a nail in a single apartment can be difficult to hide from neighbors on the staircase.
Premises are protected from extraneous noise in two ways:
  • Complete soundproofing... It must be provided by all the enclosing structures of the room - ceiling, walls and floor. This method involves the implementation of a whole range of insulating and finishing works so it is effective but expensive. In addition, the installed soundproofing materials occupy a decent volume of the room, so it is advisable to carry out its complete isolation from noise if it is spacious.
  • Partial soundproofing with false ceilings... In this way, noises from the upper floors of the house can be drowned out. It provides for the installation of special sound-absorbing plates between the base surface of the ceiling and its suspended structure.
When choosing a method of soundproofing the ceiling of a house, one should take into account the material for the construction of a particular building. For panel houses the best solution there will be complete soundproofing of the premises, since the almost equal density of the materials of their walls and floors allows the spread of noise from apartments along all the wall structures of the building. Partial isolation usually does not produce the desired effect in this case. Walls and even floors of rooms panel house also need reliable protection.

V brick houses with thick walls, due to the structure of their material, it is sufficient to produce partial noise insulation of rooms by installing suspended ceilings equipped with sound-absorbing slabs. This measure solves the problem of noise coming from the upper floors of the house.

In monolithic-frame houses, sound waves are transmitted through heavy interfloor floors and internal lightweight partitions. The outer walls of these buildings are constructed of lightweight porous materials that retain heat and reduce noise transmission. Therefore, high-quality insulation of ceilings in such houses will be sufficient.

The choice of soundproofing materials for soundproofing the ceiling

There is a wide range of modern materials for noise insulation of the ceiling and other enclosing structures. All of them have high technical and operational parameters, the main of which is the sound insulation coefficient. It is measured in decibels and characterizes the value sound pressure numerically equal to the sound volume.

For clarity: an increase in sound insulation by 1 dB means its improvement by 1.25 times, 3 dB - 2 times, 10 dB - 10 times.

Let's consider the most popular materials:

  1. ISOTEX... These are sound-absorbing plates with a thickness of 12-25 mm. With its minimum value of 12 mm, the sound insulation coefficient of ISOTEX panels installed on the ceiling is 23 dB. The final coating of the slabs is aluminium foil reducing heat loss through the ceiling structure. ISOTEX slabs are fixed to the surface with liquid nails and are joined together using the “tongue-and-groove” method, which eliminates the presence of gaps through which sound can penetrate.
  2. ISOPLAAT... These are heat and sound insulation boards with a thickness of 12 mm or 25 mm, with sound insulation coefficients of 23 and 26 dB, respectively. The panels are made of softwood and serve to enhance the acoustics of the premises, effectively absorbing airborne and structural noise from the outside. ISOPLAAT boards have a rough, wavy inner surface that scatters sound waves, and an outer smooth surface, which can later be plastered, wallpapered or painted.
  3. No sound Acoustic... Soundproof membrane t.5 mm, density 30 kg / m2 and size 5x1.5 m
  4. Green glue... It is a plastic high-quality material that absorbs vibration and sound in frame-type ceiling systems, fits between the gypsum board, material consumption - 1 tube 828 ml with a capacity of 1.5 m 2 of surface area.
  5. Topsilent Bitex (Polipiombo)... Soundproof membrane 4 mm thick, not critical in the frequency range. Its size - 0.6x23 m and 0.6x11 m, allows installation of ceiling sound insulation up to a sound insulation level of 24 dB.
  6. Tecsound... It is a heavy soundproofing mineral membrane with a thickness of 3.7 mm and a size of 5x1.22 m. Its large volumetric weight and viscoelastic properties allow effectively insulating ceilings and walls up to a sound level of 28 dB. Texound is an innovative development of the latest generation and the best protection against high frequency noise.
  7. EcoAcoustic... Modern heat and sound insulation material made of polyester fiber by hot working. Size - 1250x600 mm, thickness - 50 mm, in the package 7.5 m 2 of material in gray, green or white.
  8. Ecotishina... It is similar to the previous one, has a thickness of 40 mm and a size of 0.6x10 m.
  9. Comfort... These soundproofing panels reliably protect the premises from structural and airborne noise, allowing ceiling sound insulation levels of up to 45dB to be achieved. Material thickness - from 10 to 100 mm, dimensions - 2.5x0.6 m and 3x1.2 m.
  10. Fkustik-metal slik... Soundproof membrane, consisting of 2 layers of foamed polyethylene with a thickness of 3 mm, and a lead plate of 0.5 mm, the level of sound insulation of the material - up to 27 dB, size - 3x1 m.
  11. Shumanet-BM... Basalt based mineral slabs with a sound absorption coefficient of 0.9. The thickness of the slabs is 50 mm, the size is 1000x600 mm. The package contains 4 boards or 2.4 m 2 of material.
  12. Acustik-stop... These are noise-absorbing high-tech polyurethane foam pyramids. They are used to insulate the enclosing structures of studio premises. Sound absorption - 0.7-1.0. The size of the panels is 1x1 m and 2x1 m, their thickness is 35, 50 and 70 mm.
Different types of sound insulation can be combined with each other. For example, the combination of a sound-absorbing membrane and slabs of the same purpose allows you to create an effective system for soundproofing the ceiling of a house, reliably protecting against extraneous sounds. The above materials for ceiling sound insulation can fill the free space between the base surface of the ceiling and its suspended, hemmed or tensioned structure.

Do-it-yourself ceiling soundproofing

The soundproofing system of a suspended frame ceiling is considered to be the most effective. It is provided by reliable methods of fastening materials, their small amount when small thickness finished ceiling structure. There are several main systems for soundproofing suspended ceilings.

Ceiling soundproofing "Premium"

It consists of a ceiling frame, sheathed with two layers of gypsum board, 2 layers of Texound 70 membrane and ThermoZvukoIzola - a ceramic fiber cloth in a double-sided polypropylene protective sheath.

The sequence of works on soundproofing the ceiling with your own hands:

  • Glue a layer of ThermoZukoIzol on the base ceiling.
  • On top of it, fix the first layer of the Texound 70 membrane with glue and dowels "fungus".
  • Install straight hangers or hangers on rods through the obtained insulation layers.
  • Fasten metal profiles 60x27 to the suspensions and make a crate between them. The structure will be heavy, so you need to use at least five hangers per 1 m 2 of the ceiling and check the reliability of the fasteners.
  • Fill the space between the metal profiles with Rockwool or Isover mineral plates with a density of 40-60 kg / m 3.
  • The front parts of the profiles, facing the walls, should be pasted over with strips of Texound 70 membrane.
  • Fix the first layer of gypsum board on the profiles.
  • On the drywall intended for the second layer, you need to glue the Texound 70 membrane, and then fix this whole composition on the first layer of drywall sheets using self-tapping screws.
The maximum efficiency of such a system can be provided by an air gap of 50-200 mm between the Texound 70 membrane and the mineral slab. However, the thickness of such a layer determines the thickness of the entire "Premium" system, it is about 90-270 mm. In this case, you will have to make a choice between the silence in the room and the height of its ceiling.

Ceiling soundproofing "Comfort"

The technology of installation of the Comfort ceiling sound insulation is similar to the installation of the Premium system, but has several differences:

  1. No air gap between the mineral slab and the first layer of the Texound 70 membrane.
  2. Instead of a mineral slab, the space between the profiles can be filled with ThermoZukoIzol folded in two or three times.
The minimum thickness of the Comfort system is 60 mm.

Ceiling soundproofing "Economy"

The Economy insulation system is installed as follows:
  • Suspensions are attached to the base ceiling, which are wrapped around with a Texound 70 membrane on all sides.
  • Profiles 60x27 mm and one sheet of plasterboard, m. 12.5 mm, are attached to the suspensions.
  • The space between the profiles is filled with sound-absorbing materials Isover, Knauf or Rockwool.
  • The installation is completed by installing drywall sheets with a Texound 70 membrane glued to them.
The minimum thickness of such a system is 50 mm.

Acoustic ceilings for noise reduction

An effective means of reducing the noise level in a room is the installation of a stretch acoustic ceiling, which is based on a special perforated sheet that absorbs noise. The thickness of the ceiling structure, which guarantees noise reduction, is 120-170 mm. Therefore, the height of the ceilings often limits the possibility of soundproofing. Rooms with a height of three meters and more are excellent for this purpose.

A very effective combination of suspended acoustic ceilings and mineral wool slabs located in the space between the ceiling and the structure. Such a system acts as an absorber of various odors in the refrigerator. The efficiency of its work through sound absorption is determined by the thickness of the layer of the manufactured acoustic ceiling.

One of its types is a cork ceiling. Its excellent insulating and sound-absorbing qualities are due to its natural origin, porous structure and specific molecular structure.

In construction, special soundproofing plates are often used, which can be installed in any ceiling structure. They not only absorb external noise, but also the sounds that occur in the room.

Soundproofing the base ceiling

Ceiling soundproofing can be done without using a suspension system. In this case, foam plates of various thicknesses can be used to obtain a certain soundproofing layer.

Before you make the ceiling soundproofing, you need to level it, and then follow these rules:

  1. The panels are mounted on base surface ceiling with glue and plastic dowels "fungi".
  2. The adhesive is applied only to the center and edges of the boards. Additional fastening with "mushrooms" provides 5 pieces for one panel.
  3. When buying foam, you should know that it has different densities, on which its strength depends. The density of the foam is determined by the numbers 15 and 25. A material with a density of 25 is more durable, and should be used.
  4. After installing the slabs on the ceiling, you need to wait for the glue to dry, and then follow them finishing... It can be putty, wallpapering, tiles or painting.
With dense and correct styling materials, the level of extraneous noise in the room will be significantly reduced.

Understanding which sound insulation is better for the ceiling, and having studied the nuances of its installation, you can save your home from extraneous sounds for a long time. Good luck!

carrying out works

When arranging their apartment, the owners try to ensure the maximum comfort of living. Many of the modern buildings do not differ in good sound insulation (however, houses of the 80-90s also cannot boast of this). Therefore, certain measures are being taken to create soundproofing of the home. In this case, you need to pay attention not only to the walls, because sound insulation for the ceiling is also very important.

From theory to practice

The main indicator in this case will be the efficiency of sound absorption.

Note that all noises and extraneous sounds are divided into:

  1. air;
  2. drums.

Percussive sounds - arising from mechanical impact, air sounds - everything that is emitted: screams, loud music, barking of a dog. Therefore, when choosing, you should pay attention to the above in the first place.

Common methods

Undoubtedly the most popular method is overlaid materials.

In this case, the material becomes:

  • polyurethane foam- block or sprayed onto the surface (the second option is considered one of the most effective;

  • Cork;

  • coir;

  • mineral wool;

  • All kinds of panels made of mineral and organic fibers.

Such a device is associated with additional work - in particular, with the installation of an auxiliary system. Systems can be of different formats:

  • Hemmed (metal carcass installed on the floor; the frame is sheathed with drywall sheets);

  • (film or fabric coverings are stretched on special brackets);

Above cassette ceiling

  • (soundproofing panels for the ceiling are laid on the metal frame).

Cork

There are many fans of cork materials today. Sound insulation against impact noise with this material is excellent.

  • By level, only 2.5-3 cm of cork material is replaced by 10-15 cm reinforced concrete slab and 10 cm of pine timber. The noise level with a 3 cm thick balsa wood is reduced by about 20-45 dB. Therefore, a single-layer 10 mm soundproofing flooring is not sufficient.
  • It is assumed that a layer of technical cork of about 3-4 cm will be created, which is covered with insulation on top (if required) and sheathed decorative trim... In this case, the quality increases several times.

Professional sound insulators

The name speaks for itself - these materials are created in order to successfully absorb any noise coming from the room located above.

Mineral wool slabs

Excellent soundproofing characteristics are shown by the ceilings, which are made with mineral wool slabs. In this case, the sound absorption coefficient is about 85%.

The technology here is quite simple:

  • The necessary frame structure is fixed to the rough ceiling, which is clogged with mineral wool slabs;
  • Further, the frame is sheathed with plasterboard sheets;
  • At the end, soundproof ceilings are finished with any desired material (applying putty, paint, wallpapering).

Advice! The method is quite effective, but it has one very serious drawback: in total, the thickness of the entire structure will reach 15 cm (maybe more). It cannot be said that it is best sound insulation ceiling, but installation of this type is the right decision, and the price is affordable.

Sound insulating sheets

At the professional level, soundproof ceilings are made with special canvases. What are the advantages of a branded foreign lining over traditional mineral insulation, which are used everywhere?

  • Most of the materials belong to the class of slightly flammable and completely non-toxic, so they are used not only in residential premises, but also in public places: restaurants, bars, clubs, cinemas;

  • These materials are very easy to assemble. It is enough to remove the protective layer and glue it to the prepared base;
  • In terms of the European noise absorption classification, such soundproof ceiling panels correspond to the BFT class (the highest);
  • The canvas is a membrane, the sound in which "sticks". It can be carried out from various materials: high-quality rubbers, felt and others.
  • For the production of the membrane, felt is used, which is a good sound absorber;

  • When the wave hits the ceiling, the polymer will bounce off the sound. But in the felt the remnants of the shock wave will be extinguished without reaching the room;
  • Soundproofing materials for a ceiling of this type have a thickness of 2.5 to 14 mm, so they will not hide the ceiling space.

Plates Shumanet BM

In many construction and repair companies, sound-absorbing ceilings are installed using acoustic panels Shumanet BM. In the modern construction market, these boards are one of the best and highest quality materials for sound insulation.

Plates are widely used for finishing stretch ceilings in apartments, cottages and country houses.

  • The manufacturer's instructions note that the material is absolutely non-combustible (a very important factor for many types of premises);
  • The standard noise absorption coefficient is 0.9 NRC;
  • Plates are subject to quality control in the installation companies.

Shumanet BM plates are fixed to ceiling tiles with the help of plastic "mushrooms". This ensures high-quality fixing of the plates in all conditions. After that, soundproof suspended ceilings or other types of products (hemming, tension) are mounted on the slabs.

Complex systems

In the Russian construction market, many companies offer customers the installation of an integrated soundproofing system, which includes 2-3-4 different materials.

  • In addition, the material is assembled by many on their own. In this case, people resort to a combination system, i.e. a sound-absorbing membrane is mounted on top of the sound-absorbing plates. Such a system will have an extremely high sound absorption coefficient.
  • Not so long ago, special plates appear in steel stores that can be installed over an existing ceiling system. Such soundproofing materials for the ceiling have a serious advantage: sound absorption of the noise that comes from the owner's premises occurs. Thus, the owners of this solution eliminate unnecessary noise and neighbors.

Dropped ceilings

Plasterboard installation

Sound insulation of a suspended ceiling provides for fixing to the rough surface of the hollow rack structure, which is then filled with sound-absorbing material. After that, a decorative coating is made. Sometimes soundproof gratings or perforated drywall are attached to the ceiling.

A frame of this type is mounted from a standard metal profile for plasterboard ceilings.

But there are some peculiarities here:

  • The effect of sound absorption will be directly related to the size of the interior cavity of the ceiling, which is filled with the material. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the distance from the floor slab to the outer cladding, taking into account the thickness of the sound-absorbing materials used. You need to understand that the device of such a system will necessarily lead to a significant decrease in the total height of the room, which will be very noticeable in ordinary apartments;
  • The outer part of the structure is a diffuser, a membrane that retransmits sound vibrations, in particular impact noise when it is rigidly attached through the supporting frame to the walls and ceiling. To avoid this, during the installation process, it is required to avoid extreme rigid contact of the metal frame with the walls (a gap is left) and the rough ceiling (soundproofing fasteners and linings are used). This ensures the sound insulation of the ceiling from impact noise;

  • During the installation of the soundproofing structure, care must be taken to maintain the absolute tightness of the system. Even small, barely visible slots and holes will allow sound to pass through.

Output

If you are planning to get the highest quality result, then it is recommended to pay attention to the cork, complex systems... But you need to keep in mind that such a device will be quite expensive financially.

To obtain a high-quality result at minimal cost, you can use mineral wool or glass wool, which is placed in the space between the rough and false ceiling.

Soundproofing the ceiling - video and photo of this process in a large number can be found on the internet. Installation of this type can be done both with your own hands and with the involvement of specialists.

Modern housing, in our view, is a harmonious combination of a magnificent interior, complemented by fashionable and comfortable furniture, stylish decor items and a variety of high-tech technology designed to brighten and simplify our life. At first glance, it may seem that these signs are quite enough to create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere in the house, however, if noise is a constant companion of your home, then it is unlikely that you will experience positive emotions, and think about the advisability of high-quality soundproofing of the apartment.

Noises: the main types and methods of elimination

More than half of the residents of modern multi-storey buildings suffer from noise accompaniment: a slight movement of furniture on the floor above or a small piece of furniture falling to the floor in violation of the technology of noise insulation works mercilessly hits our eardrums. Extraneous sounds (footsteps, bangs, harsh screams, music) penetrate into our house not only through windows and walls, but through the surface of the floor and ceiling, thereby disrupting the normal way of life and delivering a lot of negative emotions.

Experts distinguish between airborne and structural noise.

To airborne noise can be attributed to noise caused by sound waves of fluctuations in air currents, which are transmitted through walls in the presence of a powerful source, for example, loud speech or sounds from the speaker of a working tape recorder.

To structure-borne noise noises arising from any mechanical action, for example, hitting a falling object or drilling a surface, are counted. In this case, a sound wave is formed on a solid surface (ceiling), and since the speed of sound waves in solids is more than 12 times higher than the speed of sound in air, such noises are heard quite clearly, for example, the sound of a drill.

There are 2 options for protecting a room from noise from above:

1. Complete soundproofing

Complete insulation is provided by all surfaces in the apartment: ceiling, floor and walls. This method is associated with the implementation of a full complex of construction and renovation works, which means that, for all its effectiveness, it is quite expensive. In addition, soundproofing materials take up space in the room, therefore, it is better to carry out complete soundproofing in spacious rooms.

2. Combination of partial sound insulation with a stretch ceiling

If you began to notice extraneous noises from the neighbors upstairs only after all the repair work, then it is advisable to use partial noise insulation of the room, in particular, to ensure the noise insulation of the ceiling using special soundproofing plates that are mounted in the ceiling space between the stretch and base ceiling.

When choosing the optimal and reliable means and methods for noise protection of a room, you should pay attention to the building material for the construction of the entire housing complex, since each material has its own characteristic operational features and different sound insulation.

Panel houses. Undoubtedly, the best solution for soundproofing apartments in panel-type houses is the method of complete soundproofing. This can be explained quite simply. Due to the approximately equal massiveness of the walls and interfloor ceilings, the generated noise is transmitted from the apartment located above downward along all wall structures. Insulation of one ceiling, as a rule, does not lead to the expected effect - in addition to the suspended ceiling, additional noise insulation of the walls and even the floor is required.

Brick houses. For soundproofing apartments located in brick buildings with thick walls, it is quite sufficient to carry out partial soundproofing, for example, installing a soundproofing ceiling will guaranteedly solve the problem of unwanted noise "from neighbors upstairs".

Monolithic frame houses. Heavy floor slabs and light internal partitions, which characterize monolithic-frame houses, contribute to the rapid propagation of sound waves. In addition, lightweight materials (hollow brick, foam concrete), from which the outer walls are made, increase thermal insulation and the level of indirect noise transmission.

Ceiling noise insulation: methods

The noise insulation of the ceiling in the apartment can rightfully be attributed to the most important stage of finishing work, because the peace and relaxation of all residents depend on the quality and literacy of execution. Today, modern materials and innovative technologies of execution construction works allow you to solve this problem, regardless of the complexity and time of its identification.

Among the most common methods of soundproofing the ceiling of an apartment, experts distinguish installation of acoustic suspended ceilings and finishing with plasterboard with soundproofing material , which can be:

  • foamed glass,
  • basalt wool,
  • cellulose wool,
  • reed slab,
  • fireclay,
  • peat insulation plate,
  • polyurethane foam blocks,
  • staple fiberglass,
  • linen tow mat,
  • cork covering,
  • coconut fiber.

An additional ceiling system should be installed to provide reliable soundproofing of the ceiling. This could be:

  1. suspended ceiling - a metal frame is attached to the ceiling, on which the slabs are laid;
  2. false ceiling - the metal frame is sheathed with plasterboard.
  3. stretch ceiling - a fabric or film covering is stretched onto the installed special brackets.

The free space between the structures and the main ceiling is filled with a special soundproofing material.

Sound insulation by increasing sound absorption

If the repair has already been completed or there is no desire to do it, then it is enough effective remedy noise reduction will be the installation of an acoustic stretch ceiling based on specially perforated fabric that absorbs noise well. The main condition for successful application and at the same time a limiting factor is the height of the ceilings. Since the thickness of the finished structure, which guarantees a significant reduction in the noise level, reaches 120-170 mm, it is recommended to install it in rooms with a height of at least 3 meters.

The combination of an acoustic suspended ceiling and a layer of sound-absorbing mineral wool, placed in the free space between the suspended ceiling and the slabs, forms a sound-absorbing structure. In relation to the room, the structure functions as a sound-absorbing structure: noise that has entered the room through the floor and walls is absorbed by the ceiling surface, like an odor absorber in a refrigerator. The effectiveness of reducing unwanted noise by means of sound-absorbing structures is determined by the degree of resonance of the room and the thickness of the working layer of the installed acoustic ceiling.

I managed to acquire a considerable number of fans cork ceiling. Excellent sound insulation properties are provided by natural origin, special molecular structure of the cork and its porous structure.

The rapid development of the construction industry, the emergence of innovative technologies and high-tech raw materials make it possible to create an integrated sound-absorbing system based on the use of several noise-insulating materials. It should be noted that specialists often use special soundproofing plates that are installed additionally in any ceiling structure. Such plates not only absorb noise from the outside, but also those sounds that are generated in the room.

So, there are many ways to soundproof the ceiling with your own hands. Your choice is determined only by the degree of protection required and the height of the ceilings.

Ceiling soundproofing materials

The modern market offers a wide range of soundproofing materials for walls, floors and ceilings. High quality materials for noise insulation, variety design solutions and excellent technical and operational characteristics allow achieving high sound insulation in any room. Let's dwell on the main, most common soundproofing materials.

Let's note right away: A decibel is a relative value such as a percentage or a multiplicity. Decibels measure the sound pressure level, which is numerically equal to the sound volume level. For clarity, let's translate dB into "times" and we get - an increase in the sound insulation of the ceiling by 1 dB means an improvement in sound insulation by 1.25 times (in this case), 3 dB - 2 times, 10 dB - 10 times.

Noise-insulating material ISOTEX (Isotex).

It became possible to make effective soundproofing of the ceiling independently and without loss of space with the advent of innovative soundproofing products ISOTEX (Isotex). High efficiency with low height loss (12-25 mm).

Installation of sound-absorbing ceiling panels provides a sound insulation coefficient of -23 dB with a coating thickness of 12 mm. The basis of the panels is made up of ISOTEX heat and sound insulation boards, and foil paper acts as a finishing coating, which reduces heat losses through the ceiling. Improved sound insulation is achieved by attaching frameless ISOTEX panels (Isotex) directly to the ceiling surface using liquid nails and assembling the panels using the “tongue-and-groove” method, which guarantees the absence of gaps and crevices - the main sources of sound penetration.

The effectiveness of the panels has been proven in practice: the panel system increases the noise insulation of the ceiling while losing significantly less area than when installing frame structures.

Sound insulation of the ceiling ISOPLAAT (Izoplat)

The use of heat and sound insulation board ISOPLAAT (Izoplat) 25 mm + hem / stretch / suspended ceiling provides reliable sound insulation in the room. ISOPLAAT panels, made of natural coniferous wood without any synthetic or adhesive additives, improve room acoustics and effectively absorb noise, drown out impact and airborne noises trying to break into your peace from the outside. The ISOPLAAT (Isoplat) 12 mm board allows achieving a sound insulation coefficient of -23 dB, and a 25 mm panel provides sound insulation of 26 dB.

Fastening the heat and sound insulation board ISOPLAAT (Izoplat) to glue without preliminary leveling the surface makes the process convenient and economical. The slabs are characterized by the presence of one rough, wavy surface, due to which the sound waves are scattered, and smooth surface, which is subject to further plastering, painting or wallpapering for ceilings.

Thanks to modern technologies and noise-insulating materials of the new generation, you can successfully combine Various types isolation. For example, a combination of a membrane that absorbs sound waves and plates of such a functional purpose will allow you to create a highly effective noise-insulating system that reliably protects both from external noise and from sounds inside the apartment.

How to properly insulate the ceiling?

So, if you are not satisfied with the noise coming from the street or from the neighbors from the apartment above, it's time to come to grips with soundproofing the ceiling. To do this, you can use the services of a professional master - he will advise you and help you choose the best sound insulation method, purchase necessary materials, and you just have to enjoy the long-awaited silence in your apartment. However, this kind of service will cost you dearly. Is it worth overpaying if you can do the whole range of simple work yourself?

We will try to help you in this matter and consider the main options for manufacturing an effective sound-absorbing ceiling system.

The most effective sound-absorbing ceiling system is considered to be a frame soundproofing system. plasterboard ceiling, based on the use of soundproof membranes. Thanks to the use of a small amount of modern materials and reliable fastening methods, you will get optimal efficiency with a low thickness of the finished structure.

Ceiling soundproofing system "Premium"

To install the "Premium" ceiling sound insulation system made of plasterboard with 2 layers of Texound 70 membrane and 2 layers of gypsum board, you have to perform the following sequence of works:

  • glue a layer of ThermoZukoIzol on the ceiling surface;
  • on top of the dowels and glue, attach the first layer of Texound 70 membrane material;
  • to install hangers on rods or straight hangers to the ceiling;
  • fix the 60x27 profile and perform the lathing between the profiles. Since the structure promises to be quite heavy, then check the reliability of all fasteners and use at least 5 hangers per 1 sq. M.
  • fill the free space between the profiles with sound-absorbing material from the Rockwool mineral slab (density 40-60 kg / m3);
  • cover the front surfaces of the profile, which "look" towards the wall surface, with strips of Texound 70 membrane material;
  • install the first GKL sheet on the profile. Then fix on it the composition of the second sheet of gypsum board and the second layer of the Texound 70 membrane.

The highest efficiency of the "Premium" soundproofing system will be ensured by an air gap of 50-200 mm between a layer of Texound 70 membrane material and a layer of mineral wool. It should be noted that the thickness of the air gap determines the thickness of the finished soundproofing system "Premium" - 90 - 270 mm. Here you will have to make a difficult choice in favor of silence or room volume.

Noise insulation system of the ceiling "Comfort"

The installation technology of the "Comfort" soundproof ceiling system with 2 layers of Texound 70 membrane is similar to the installation of the "Premium" system, however, there are several fundamental differences:

  1. the absence of an air gap between the first layer of Texound 70 membrane material and the layer of the mineral slab;
  2. GKL sheets with a Texound 70 membrane are replaced by a composition of one gypsum plasterboard and a layer of Texound 70 membrane. The thickness of the finished Comfort ceiling sound insulation system is only 80 mm.

Noise insulation system of the ceiling "Economy"

The technology of installation of the "Economy" soundproof ceiling system with 1 layer of Texound 70 membrane resembles the installation of the "Comfort" system with only minor differences:

  • a layer of ThermoSukoIsol and Texound 70 membrane material is not installed directly on the floor slab;
  • direct suspensions are necessarily wrapped on all sides with a Texound 70 membrane. The thickness of the finished soundproofing system for the Economy ceiling is only 66 mm.

Difficulties of soundproofing the ceiling

When installing a ceiling sound insulation system, you may encounter some inconveniences and difficulties:

1. all work is carried out at a height, which means that the installation will require the participation of two or even more people, using scaffolding which you will have to rent or buy;

2. the cost of high-quality soundproofing materials from trusted manufacturers, however, like the cost of soundproofing the ceiling, is comparable to the cost of subsequent decoration;

3. If moisture gets on the soundproofing structure, there is a high probability of damage to the mineral or basalt wool. To avoid these risks, use a more expensive and moisture resistant material such as cork.

You can visually familiarize yourself with the creation of the best noise insulation of the ceiling by watching the video on youtube.
