Advice. Making an arch using the above materials is considered a simple finish. For decorative design, it is worth using other types.

Materials for decorative finishing of the arch

Since the decorative finish is characterized by an unusual design design and the use of original materials, the following are most often used in works:

Decorative or natural stone.
Bamboo wallpaper.
Cork materials.

Decorative plastic and wooden corners.
Wood panels with carvings and other surface decoration.

All of them have their own individual appearance and easy surface mounting.

These materials for arched structures are presented in the form of slabs.

Plates of this type can have different parameters.
The thickness of the tiles starts from 0.3 cm and reaches 0.8 cm.

Note. You should not use thicker stone tiles for finishing the arch.

Both that and that stone have similar properties, materials:

Practical and moisture resistant. These properties lie in the fact that the surface of both natural and artificial stone is not able to absorb moisture and dirt.
Durable and wear-resistant, since they practically do not have a definite service life and do not lose their appearance throughout the entire period of use.
Stones are not afraid of fire and temperature changes.

The stones have two differences:

Natural stone has a greater mass than decorative stone.

Advice. For this reason, it is best used on stone arched structures.

The price for natural stone tiles is higher than for decorative materials.
The installation method is slightly different in that for mounting on a plasterboard surface natural tiles you need to strengthen it. The stone decoration of the arch looks very original.

To install the arch design you will need:

Concrete mortar or special glue.
Building level and tape measure.
Spatula and adhesive container.

A damp cloth for wiping the surface from the glue.
Tile cutter for cutting stone tiles.

It is not affected by various temperature conditions.
The surface of the cork is not capable of absorbing liquid impurities.

Advice. The arch is not completely finished with a cork, but only some of its part.

There are certain instructions for the installation of the cork and products from it, and this is due to:

The elasticity of the material.
The cork in any form breaks easily.

For work you will need:

Special glue.
Dry rags.

Note. The building level can be omitted, since the cork does not have a certain pattern on the surface.

When pasting the surface of the arch with cork materials, do not stretch them.
They will absorb moisture, and there will be no flat finish on the surface.

It is best not to keep the glue on the cork for a long time.
The material will just start to deform.

There is no specific standard governing the size of the parties. Each manufacturer produces a corner for wallpaper in such a width ratio that it considers convenient. In addition, the length of the profile ranges from 2700 mm to 3000 mm. Equilateral corners are also used to decorate the arch. They start at a side size of 10 mm and end at 50 mm. Their thickness is 1 - 1.4 mm. Wider finishes are custom made for a specific arch.

Thickness plastic profile for finishing arches usually one millimeter. This is enough for the wallpaper corner to hide the unevenness and remain flexible. In addition to colored monochromatic ones, they can be painted for various types of wood, metal, stone.

Attention! When buying, pay attention to the bend radius. Its minimum size, to which you can bend a decorative corner without destroying it and creating extreme stress.

self-tapping screws into holes with a cone under the head;
carnations with cut off caps;
adhesive composition for plastic;
liquid Nails.

Self-tapping screws are used for interior decoration in loft and industrial style. In this case, they are themed elements.

I never use nails. When clogged, the plastic may crack. Even if the caps are cut off, the traces of the fasteners are visible. It is difficult to choose the mastic exactly in the tone of the finish and mask the nails.

Attention! Peel off the wallpaper strips half the profile width and glue the corners directly to the putty.

Arch and corners on the wallpaper

I mount the corners for the arch with glue mainly on painted surfaces and dense washable wallpaper.

I cut the wallpaper on both sides of the corner with a sharp knife.
I cut and check the fit of the dry profile. I mark the middle of the corner and the arch.
I adjust the joints. I double-check their alignment.
I apply a small amount of glue to the middle of the profile.
I start to glue from the middle. I press the corner and fix it with tape to the wall.
After the glue dries, I remove the tape.

Advice! If the length of the profile is not enough to completely veneer the arch, add symmetrically on both sides. It will look more aesthetically pleasing than the usual "dotting" in one place.
