DIY installation of plastic panels. Decorating walls with plastic panels with your own hands Methods for installing pvc panels on walls

One of the main advantages of PVC panels is their ease of installation. Even a person who is far from construction and repair work can easily cope with it. The main thing is to follow the algorithm of actions and a few simple rules.

Installation methods

Fastening with glue

Fastening to the frame

The installation of plastic panels in the bathroom can be carried out in two different ways... Firstly, they can be directly on the wall, and secondly, they can be attached to a previously prepared frame.

In the first case, you will first have to carefully prepare the wall surface in order to ensure the most tight fit of the panel sheets. If the wall surface has significant irregularities, then the second option is preferred. The disadvantage of this method is the reduction of the usable area, but it makes it possible to improve heat and noise insulation, to hide all communications.

Preparation for work

To decorate the bathroom with PVC panels with your own hands, depending on the installation option, you will need chipboard or fiberboard, slats, bars or metal profiles, moldings. It is also worth preparing a sealant and insulating materials.

The quality and durability of the cladding to a large extent depends on the correctness and accuracy of measurements. Therefore, at installation works not to do without:

  1. roulette;
  2. level;
  3. rulers;
  4. pencil.

To fix the battens and sheets, an adhesive composition, self-tapping screws, clamps or nails, a hammer, a screwdriver, a hacksaw (with a fine tooth), a construction stapler, a perforator and a screwdriver are used.

Calculations

To determine the amount of material, a number of simple calculations are first carried out.

When calculating the number and length of the profile, take into account that:

  1. the elements of the lathing must be located perpendicular to the panels. So, if the panels are planned to be mounted vertically, then the parts of the lathing are placed horizontally. And vice versa;
  2. the distance between the slats should be from 30 to 50 cm;
  3. additional slats are mounted around the door opening;
  4. installation is carried out around the perimeter;
  5. in addition to the lathing, guides are also needed;
  6. all non-integers in calculations are rounded up;
  7. the number of fasteners required in the bathroom on their own depends on the length of the wall surface, at the rate of 1 element for every 50 cm. In the case of using cleats, 20 fasteners are needed per 1 m2.

The number of the base material is also calculated depending on the length of the wall. For this, the total length is divided by the width of the panels. In the case of using PVC sheets or tiles, their number is calculated by m2. Calculations near the doors are done separately.

It is equally important to properly prepare all the component parts (accessories). When using corner profiles, they are purchased according to the number of corners in the bathroom. The number of internal and external corners for the plinth depends on the same indicator. The length of the floor plinth and ceiling fillet is calculated in accordance with the perimeter of the room.

5-10% is added to all calculation results (for an unsuccessful cut, overlap, etc.) so that in an emergency you do not have to run to the store.

Adhesive installation method

Mounting PVC panels with glue is considered the easiest and fastest way. However, for its high-quality performance, the surface on which the PVC plates will be installed must be as flat as possible.

How to properly fix plastic panels in the bathroom with glue?

  1. To begin with, the walls are cleaned of old cladding (wallpaper is removed, paint is removed, etc.) If there are bumps and depressions, it must be leveled with a putty containing antibacterial substances.
  2. After the putty is dry, a primer is applied over it. For each surface, the primer will be different: for walls covered with oil paint one, but for "clean" concrete - completely different.
  3. When preparing materials, special attention should be paid to glue. The usual adhesive for the bathroom will not work, because due to high humidity and temperature changes, it will quickly soften and no longer hold the finish.
  4. A good option here liquid nails can become, which have high moisture resistance and reliably glue any materials.
  5. If the preparatory work for leveling and processing the walls is done correctly, but stick the sheets with your own hands, without help professional craftsmen, will not be difficult.
  6. Installation is started from one of the corners.

Important! Do not forget to attach the joint for the inner corners to the PVC sheet before installing, fixing it to the end on the side of the tenon.

The glue is diluted strictly following the instructions on the package. It is applied to the wall and to the panel itself with a roller, notched trowel or brush. At the same time, you should not immediately coat a large section of the wall. After applying the adhesive, you need to wait some time (it is usually indicated on the package), and fix the element in the right place.

All subsequent elements are attached in the same way. They must be tightly connected to each other by means of tenon and groove elements.

If, when approaching the opposite corner, the sheet cannot be installed completely, then it must be cut off with a construction or ordinary clerical knife. The gusset is attached to it from the cut side.

Installation of PVC panels on the adjacent wall surface begins with the already installed corner connection adjacent wall.

Installation on a frame

Now in more detail about how to fix plastic panels in the bathroom using the frame method.

Assembling the base

Frame for walls

For bathroom

For ceiling

With this installation option for PVC panels, there is no need to carefully level and clean the wall. But if there are traces of mold or mildew on its surface, then the wall must be cleaned and processed special means, which will prevent the further emergence and spread of negative factors.

The frame for installing PVC strips and sheets can be made of wood, metal or PVC.

To begin with, how to install plastic panels on a wooden base, which is the most common. Before starting work, all parts of the wood frame must be treated with antibacterial compounds.

To collect wooden frame you will need bars with a section size of 4x4 or 4x2.5. Installation begins with securing the guides. Then the crossbars are attached (depending on the cladding option, either horizontally or vertically). Additional supports can be added to the frame to increase rigidity. A prerequisite this being the same distance between them.

Video: Step-by-step assembly of a wooden frame for PVC panels

The first row is fixed at a distance of 30-40 cm from the floor. All subsequent rows are attached with the same step. The topmost one is installed at the level of the future ceiling. In this case, all rows are placed perpendicular to the panel mountings. It should be ensured that all elements are located exactly and in the same plane.

Metal lathing will cost more, but will last much longer. An aluminum profile is used as a material for it. First, U-shaped profiles are installed above and below (under the ceiling and at the floor). Between them with a step not exceeding 0.9 m - guides. Subsequently, PVC lamellas are mounted on them.

In order to save money, it is also allowed to combine the first and second types of frames. In this case, its perimeter is made of metal, and the posts are made of wooden parts.

Another option for the frame is a plastic base. This is the most "young" method, but no less fast and effective. PVC guides are equipped with special locks that snap together plastic sheets or slats. The huge advantage of this option is that such panels can be dismantled and reassembled. Also, this frame does not require additional processing, is not susceptible to decay or the effects of fungi and mold.

Installation of panels

The sheets are attached to the finished wooden base by means of self-tapping screws with press washers or clamps. You can also use a furniture stapler. They are attached to the metal frame exclusively with self-tapping screws with press washers.

After preparing the frame, but before installing the panels themselves, wires are removed between the wall and the frame, sound and heat insulation materials are laid. And only after that they start fixing the main elements in the bathroom.

The installation algorithm is approximately the same as with the glue method. Start from the corner. A starter sheet is fastened with a stapler or screws, into the lower corner of which a fastening shelf is wound (its wide part should "look" towards the next element). Likewise, other panels are installed sequentially.

If even small joints are formed between individual trim sheets, they must be processed silicone sealant... However, if all work is done consistently and correctly, there should not be any unplanned gaps.

Answering the question of how to install plastic panels, experts or those who have already done this on their own advise:

  • before installation, allow the material to "get used to the climate" of the room;
  • carry out all work at a temperature not exceeding 20 °;
  • before installing the panels, mark the locations of all parts and holes (pipes, valves, etc.) protruding beyond the wall plane;
  • vents, door openings and built-in furniture must be edged in advance with corners, into which PVC sheets will then be installed.

Those who independently make repairs in the house are interested in knowing how to fix PVC panels to the wall. Helpful hints will tell you how easy and simple to use this material, what methods of fixing the panels are, as well as how to perform such work in stages. There are certain methods for installing plastic sheets in bathrooms and other rooms. Before proceeding with the work, you need to perform a careful calculation of the materials.

Any interior can be created with such material.

How to Attach PVC Panels to Wall and Ceiling Surface: Highlights

For the decoration of walls and ceilings, polyvinyl chloride plates are used, as they are characterized by a long service life and practicality. This material is distinguished by a variety of shades, shapes and textures, which allows you to create a stylish and beautiful interior.

Plastic plates have the following advantages:

  • ease of installation;
  • moisture resistance;
  • long service life;
  • resistance to fungal infections and fire safety;
  • ease of cleaning and care;
  • acceptable price.

You can not only finish the bath with PVX panels with your own hands, but also use this material for the kitchen. It is used instead of tiles, and the price will be lower. The disadvantages include a low level of strength for mechanical damage.

To work with plastic material, you will need tape measures, hacksaws, building levels, plastic profiles, sets of fixing parts, sealants, as well as skirting boards for ceilings.

Useful information! It is not recommended to use plastic plates in combination with expensive materials when decorating. It looks tasteless.

How to glue PVC panels on walls: practical recommendations

How to glue decorative PVC panels with mosaics can be seen in the video. Before you mount the plastic part, you need to prepare the base. At the same time, the old coating is removed, the cracks are removed, and the surface is leveled. The differences can be no more than 5 mm. Dirt and grease from the surface of the walls must be cleaned, as this can interfere with the adhesion of the adhesive.

Below are the options for decorating the walls with PVC panels.

A high-quality adhesive composition is characterized by transparency after drying, fast setting, strong adhesion and resistance to sudden temperature jumps. Do not use hot melt glue for fastening plastic.

Gluing sheet elements consists of the following steps:

  • cleaning the back of the plate;
  • drying the product before applying the glue;
  • the distribution of the glue is done in a dotted manner;
  • mounting plates to the wall.

When using liquid nails, the plates must be tapped. For high-quality adhesion, the glue must be weathered. At the end of the installation, ceiling or floor skirting boards... For this, self-tapping screws should be used.

It is recommended to use plastic panels for kitchen decoration. In this case, the assembly is carried out with small gaps. The lamellas should go under the wall cabinets and press tightly. The lower edges are fixed with skirting boards.

Useful information! To mount around the sockets, cut holes at the appropriate locations. When carrying out work, you need to turn off the electricity.

Nuances of wall mounting on top of the lathing frame

Before covering, it is recommended not only to clean the surface, but also to use antiseptic based coatings. Bars of wood are used to create the lathing, but such structures should not be used for rooms with high humidity. Before use, the wood is thoroughly dried and treated with protective compounds.

The construction of the lathing begins with marking. You also need to correctly determine the lower level for the installation of skirting boards. For a reference point, the most protruding part of the wall is taken. To control the upper and lower levels, you should use the level.

Creation of suspended ceilings from PVC panels: photo models and technologies

PVC panels are great for suspended structures. A similar material can be used for kitchens, toilets, and showers. For ceilings, panels that imitate lining are often used.

Today we will analyze in detail for you: how to decorate the walls with PVC panels, how to build a frame for this and how to make the slopes correctly.

More and more often you can find on the walls in houses and apartments, not wallpaper - which we are used to, but PVC plastic panels. Moreover, now such panels are being made in which the seams at the joints are completely invisible, which gives a solid surface. Previously, PVC panels could be found in the kitchen, or in the bathroom. However, they are often used to decorate the walls in other rooms. PVC panels for walls have completely different colors and you can pick up any pattern you are interested in.

In general, we will do everything with our own hands so that the whole structure looks dignified and beautiful, as if a real professional did all the work. The result should be a spectacular wall, on which PVC panels will look not only as decoration, but also as a full-fledged part of the composition.

A few words about plastic and its properties

The first thing I want to note right away is that PVC plastic panels are absolutely harmless. Modern technologies have made it possible not only to reduce the cost of production, but also to remove all harmful substances from the plastic composition. That is why the installation of PVC panels on the wall can be done absolutely in any room, and even in the nursery. It's good when you do the same. It can be perfectly combined with walls.

Now the choice of PVC panels is so wide that absolutely any design elements in the interior can be created from them. Another not unimportant factor is that the panels are really beautiful and look very decent on the walls. For example, here are some interiors where the walls are covered with PVC panels. It looks beautiful and dignified, which means that PVC wall panels are actually an excellent replacement for even the most expensive wallpaper.

Volumetric PVC panels in the interior

It is noteworthy that any image can be applied to the PVC panel, which will be of excellent quality. They can be easily pasted over with ordinary self-adhesive, this allows you to achieve any desired effects. It is very fashionable to apply 3D images to the wall. In general, fantasy can be limitless.

Finishing with PVC panels allows you to hide any defects in the walls. With their help, you can beautifully decorate any niches where, for example vinyl wallpapers, it is quite difficult to glue end-to-end. And the end result and the quality of the finish is really impressive.

I will tell you about one more property of PVC panels, for example, on a wall made of panels, you would like to hang a large and rather heavy picture. Having pierced the plastic with an ordinary needle, you get a kind of hook that can withstand a weight of up to three kilograms. As a result, you can hang any desired objects on the panel walls in the usual way. If you need to move the painting to another place, naturally there will be a hole in the wall from the needle. To fix this, take a colored silicone, squeeze a little onto the surface and rub it with your finger. We simply begin to smooth the puncture site and the hole actually disappears.

Another not unimportant plus is that plastic panels are durable. They do not fade, they are easy to wash, the dust does not eat into the plastic, only minimal maintenance is required and the panels will serve you for 12 years and more.

Cons of wall decoration with PVC panels

Indeed, without understanding the specific moments of the installation, without reading the advice of professionals, you should not take up the work on your own. The work itself is quite delicate and requires professionalism not only in the hands, but also in the head.

A good tool is needed. With a square, a metal file and a drill, the whole result will not be called a finish, but a "lining". While the panels are easy to maintain, they are not considered ideal hygiene. You shouldn't do wall cladding plastic panels in the bedroom, since plastic does not breathe at all, and this will negatively affect healthy sleep. The maximum that can be done is some kind of panel on a part of the wall.

In any light, the plastic is quite glare. And this is undesirable for the child's psyche. This is recommended not only by psychologists, but also by medicine. It is also necessary to take into account the fact that the panels are hollow inside and any living creatures can start in them. Many "experts" try to seal the holes with silicone during installation. I must say right away that it is not worth doing this, since during thermal deformation, individual panels can lead and the whole work will again turn into "lining".

There is one more disadvantage. The panels burn excellently and, at the same time, emit quite toxic gases. Of course, you will not light them with a lighter or a match, but in an open fire they flare up excellently.

However, despite all this, PVC wall panels are an ideal solution for the implementation of a certain individual idea. Moreover, all this looks quite beautiful and interesting. Panel drawings can be further projected onto floors, which can also be done with 3D drawings.

Let's see what experts have to say about plastic panels:

  1. When decorating walls with PVC panels, the coefficient of expansion must be taken into account. After all, materials such as polyvinyl chloride expand quite strongly when heated. Therefore, when decorating walls with PVC panels, thermal gaps must be made for the width, or rather half the width of the installation profile. The very same installation of panels to the crate should also allow some deformation in the plane of the panels themselves.
  2. If you are going to install panels on a soft lathing using staples or on a wooden lathing, then it is advisable to use thermal washers together with self-tapping screws. This will slightly complicate the installation of PVC panels on the wall, but will save all your work in the future. In the heat, some panels may simply pop out of overall design and such moments happen quite often.
  3. If we take the laying of the laminate on the walls, then during the installation there are special brackets - the glue that fix the panels on the crate of any type and design. Moreover, each panel is able to move slightly, which allows it to expand freely with increasing temperature.

Instructions for fixing PVC panels on the wall

All panel elements are easy and simple to attach. The most basic and time consuming part is creating a high-quality sheathing. Since it is the main bearing part, it must be done very accurately, but more on that later, and now let's take a closer look at the elements of the PVC panels themselves.

  • To the crate number 8 it will be the fastening large shelf that will adjoin. It is attached with self-tapping screws or staples.
  • In order for the fastening small shelf to firmly dock with the large shelf, it is equipped with a longitudinal protrusion, which must hang over the crate.
  • For wall decoration with PVC panels, you will need a starting and finishing profile. In the picture, this is a profile under number 7, with its help, you can completely frame the entire structure of PVC panels. It is the wide shelf that will be attached to the crate itself, and the narrow one is necessary in order to hold the panels themselves. There are also special finishing profiles, and they can be detachable. With them, the narrow shelf can be removed and put back, this allows you to make special latches.
  • Under number 4 and 5 inside and outside corners are shown. During installation, you will need these elements in the decoration of some niches, or corners. Here you need to know that the corners are purchased a size larger than the size of the PVC panels themselves.
  • Under number 1 we have a connecting profile. It is necessary in cases when you want to sheathe the walls with PVC panels, which have different colors, or their length is not enough for the entire structure. It is mounted like a regular installation profile.
  • Under number 2 the skirting board is shown. It is also often called fillet. It is usually mounted with glue and has a facing function.
  • Under number 6 the installation combination profile is shown. It is necessary in order to bring the ends of the panels into it, and the strip that runs perpendicularly is closed with a plinth. Usually it is used only at perfectly flat corners. Otherwise, unpleasant dirt will accumulate in the crevices.
  • All corners overlapping with other material can be hidden using F-corners. They are under us number 3, attached with ordinary glue.

Tool for wall cladding with PVC panels

  • Circular saw or jigsaw. The saw will be preferable because the jigsaw can play on the stiffeners and the cut itself will not be as smooth as we would like. I used a metal file, since the ends are still sewn up with skirting boards or profiles. You can also use a hacksaw, the main thing is that there are fine teeth.
  • If you need to cut different angles, then it is advisable to purchase a miter box. It should have angles of 45 and 90 degrees.
  • It is very convenient to use a construction stapler when sheathing walls with PVC panels if the structure of the lathing is wooden.
  • It is also convenient to use a rubber mallet. It is often used when laying laminate flooring. It is quite convenient for her to get the panel strip, which is jammed in the grooves. Otherwise, you can damage the cladding profile or battens.
  • If the finishing profile is not collapsible, you will also need a plastering trowel. When you install the last panel, you need to bend the profile with something. So the spatula is the most suitable tool.

Installation of PVC plastic panels on the wall

It is better to watch the whole process in the video below, and in the description we will tell you about the main stages of work that must be followed when decorating the walls with PVC panels.

  • First of all, we make a wooden crate.
  • It is necessary to immediately fix the guide profiles, starting and finishing.
  • We insert the first panel into the installation profile, which will be at the bottom. We bend the panel with an arc and put the upper end into the upper profile. Remember that you must insert the small mounting shelf into the starting profile.
  • With the help of a rule and a mallet, we drive the profile tightly into the groove. The plank should be firmly in place. Further, the panel is additionally fixed on the crate. This is done using staples that are driven through a large mounting shelf. In this sequence, each PVC panel is installed, up to the penultimate bar.
  • The last panel must be cut evenly from the side of the large mounting shelf in width and always to size. Moreover, it is necessary to leave a few millimeters for thermal expansion.
  • Using a spatula, bend the shelf in the finishing profile and insert the lower end of the PVC strip into the groove. Moreover, we start immediately into the finishing profile and into the installation one. It is advisable to do this work together in order to fully control the process of installing the last plank in place.
  • In the same way, we will start the panel at the top. We bend the profile bar with our spatula and drive the board into place.
  • The edge strip is also attached to the batten with staples. This is done easily. You just need to bend the profile a little and drive the staples into the necessary places.
  • The skirting boards are installed at the very end.

If you are using a finishing special profile, then the most important thing is to apply and then snap the shelf.

If you purchased a cheaper profile, then after all the manipulations with it, it may remain bent. This is all fixable too: the profile heats up household hairdryer, and then the curved place is smoothed out with a cold iron.

The gaps between the profiles, especially in the corners, can be covered with homemade grout. We mix sawdust with PVA glue until the dough is thick. Or you can choose silicone to match the color of the profile.

Pay due attention to the crate. If you did it carelessly, then the last strip of the PVC panel will definitely show it. More often than not, the edge begins to curve outward. The result is a "lining".

How to make a crate for PVC panels correctly

The lathing can be made both wooden and with the help of a metal profile - C. The advantage of the lathing is that. Moreover, the insulation will be quite significant. If you are constantly cold, then this will help correct the situation. It is best to use mats made of mineral wool... For those who like to listen to music quite loudly, you can lay a layer of soundproofing on the walls.

The lathing itself is attached to the walls using dowels or self-tapping screws. If the walls are curved, then the vertical planks are installed using a plumb line, or a level. For the backing, you can use pieces of rubber, trimming the panels themselves.

The most convenient lathing is the usual linear one. The maximum step for PVC panels is 50 cm. The minimum step is 30 cm. All protrusions, openings, window slopes, the corners of the walls must be made framed. The laths of the lathing should not have dangling ends. The only exception will be the ledge of your windowsill. For it, a special recess is cut out in the panel that will adjoin it.

Video on wall decoration with PVC panels

As you can see, it is quite easy to work with the panels, and most importantly, all the work goes quickly. The main thing is to collect crate, and installation panels are easier and more fun.

How to sheathe slopes with plastic

Slopes are the most a big problem faced by plastic finishers. Specially made obtuse corners are not produced, and if they were, then finding slopes with clear angles is also a problem. Many get out of this situation different ways, but they all go to the fact that as a result, the angle turns out to be straight, when the slope itself narrows inward. Along with this, there is a fairly simple way to finish the slopes with the help of plastic.

  • We sew up two sides of our slope to the corner. You can allow an indentation exactly half the width of our corner shelf.
  • We begin to cut the straight corner along the length from the side of the slope, leaving a margin of up to 6 cm in two directions.
  • We carefully cut one of our shelves at the corner on both sides equally. We try to cut exactly along the edge of the corner.
  • Next, you need to draw a straight line from the corner at an angle of 45 degrees. At the place of the cut, we cut off the extra piece with the help of a pruner or with the help of garden shears.
  • Along the very edge of our corner, it is necessary to make an incision with a knife at half the thickness of our facing profile and apply glue from the inside.
  • Next, it remains to impose, and press until our corner opens as we need. And all that remains is to wait for the glue to set.

Final rounding option

We install PVC panels on a soft crate

Everyone here probably became interested: “How can you decorate the walls with PVC panels for soft cladding? - after all, it will never withstand the weight of the entire structure. " Believe me, all the planking on the soft crate that the beginners have made stand for 15 years, and without any signs of damage.

First you need to remove the wallpaper from the wall. The surface itself must be leveled with a very strong filler. You can use Prospector or Hercules. The putty layer should be at least 3-4 millimeters. This is necessary so that if there are protrusions or irregularities in the wall somewhere, then a sufficient layer of putty will stabilize everything and a normal thickness will remain to hold the PVC panels on the wall.

Only high-quality finishing profiles are required. Without them, you cannot make wall cladding with PVC panels, but in fact on a soft crate.

In order for the panels themselves to be held firmly on the crate, it is necessary to reduce the contact of the adhesive layer with air. Therefore, you need to glue everything quickly enough and also systematically.

From the beginning of the tape, remove the protective layer by 3 centimeters, and cut off the tape itself. The starting end is pressed against the top point on the wall and the bottom end against the bottom point. It is convenient to do this only together. As a result, we begin to peel off the bottom layer of the protective tape, and immediately press the tape itself firmly against the wall. At the very end, it is also necessary to leave the tail of the tape about 3 centimeters. In the same way, we make a crate around the entire perimeter or the estimated area.

Installation of PVC profiles on a soft crate

To begin with, we lay our installation top profile, which horizontally and from under it we pull out all the protective tape. At this point, the second assistant firmly presses the profile against our double-sided tape. The bottom profile for the panels is also glued according to this principle.

After that, the vertical profiles are installed in the same manner, without making long breaks between gluing the profile and opening the glue base. It is more convenient to do everything from the bottom up. Thus, your profile will not hang on the scotch tape. After that, we fix the finishing profile.

All PVC panels must be precisely cut to size. Not the slightest jamming between the profiles should be allowed. In place, each panel is put consistently and simultaneously from above and below. Here it is already forbidden to use a mallet or a rule.

The whole protective film, namely, its tails are cut or re-glued as the installation work progresses PVC profile on the wall. One of the shelves in the panel needs to be cut to 10 mm, and this cut piece is glued to our outer board. The result is a solid construction that will last you more than one year. But according to my principles, I have a negative attitude to the soft crate. I just don't trust double-sided tape.

In conclusion, I want to add a few brief recommendations on PVC wall panels and their installation:

  • The best option would be to finish the bathroom, as well as the balcony or your loggia. Perfectly PVC panels for walls feel in the hallway, which is connected to the living room. PVC panels in general help to relieve the entire interior.
  • If you decide to sheathe the room with seamless panels, it would be better to install an air conditioner for this, or more often to ventilate the room, since the panels are not able to let air through.
  • You can also install PVC panels on the wall in the bedroom, but this is done only as a kind of panel. It is not recommended to use this finish in the kitchen and in the children's room.

As a result, PVC panels for walls look quite effective if they were installed by a real master. A good renovation in an apartment is not only a sticker of new wallpaper and painting of the ceiling - it is also some decorative elements that can be easily done with the help of plastic panels.

Following our advice, decorating walls with PVC panels will not be a burdensome task for you, and the result itself will delight you for many years. Trust an experienced plastic specialist!

The article will discuss how to fix PVC panels to the wall and to the ceiling base: possible options for fixing the material on the surface will be studied in detail, the main step by step technologies, nuances correct use material and creating indoor design with it. Also, illustrative examples of the design of the bathroom, kitchen, balcony and other premises will be provided.

Fastening of PVC panels to the wall can be carried out using adhesive, self-tapping screws or clamps

Panels made of polyvinyl chloride are practical and durable. For this reason, they are widely used to decorate the surfaces of walls and ceilings in the house. Thanks to a wide variety of shapes, shades and textures, an interior based on this material can be stylish and beautiful.

Helpful advice! Use PVC panels for bathroom renovation. This material is hygienic and absolutely not afraid of water, so it can be used in those rooms where other finishes are not suitable. On the Internet, there are not only photos of bathroom trim with PVC panels, but also design options using this material in the kitchen, in the toilet, on the balcony or loggia, in the sauna.

Material advantages:

  • resistance to moisture;
  • convenient installation system that even a beginner can handle;
  • long terms of operational service;
  • fire safety;
  • resistance to mold, fungi and other microorganisms;
  • hygiene;
  • ease of care and cleaning;
  • affordable cost.

On the Internet, you can stumble upon a photo of PVC panels in the kitchen; instead of tiles, this material looks no less beautiful, while its cost is much lower than that of tiles.

The disadvantages of PVC panels include a low level of impact strength. Therefore, you should carefully control the process of transporting material from the place of purchase to working area... When installing PVC wall panels with your own hands, you should also be careful not to damage them.

Before proceeding with the installation of PVC panels in the bathroom or in any other room, you should prepare the tools and materials necessary for performing finishing works... They should always be at hand.

To repair a room with PVC panels, you will need:

  • tape measure and pencil (for marking);
  • hacksaws with fine teeth (for cutting material);
  • building level;
  • square;
  • PVC panels;
  • plastic profile for PVC panels or slats;
  • a set of fixing elements (self-tapping screws, dowel-nails, clamps);
  • puncher and screwdriver;
  • antiseptic solution and sealant;
  • ceiling skirting boards.

At the same stage, the selection and purchase of material is carried out. There are panels on the market with different types a coating that can be glossy or matte. In addition, manufacturers use various technologies applying patterns and drawings.

Strength characteristics depend on the thickness of the panel walls, as well as on the number of stiffeners that are located inside.

Helpful advice! To test the material for strength, gently press down on the surface of the plastic with your finger. If the panel is bent, it means that it has a low strength indicator and a short service life.

Features of the choice of material for wall cladding with PVC panels

PVC panels from different manufacturers possess different characteristics... Be sure to pay attention to the quality of the material.

To purchase a quality panel, avoid purchasing material if:

  • stiffeners are damaged or deformed;

  • the lines of the drawing on the front side of the panel are not clear, there are blurring or the edge line is blurred;
  • lamellas differ from each other in shade;
  • the surface is covered with scratches;
  • the dimensional parameters of the lamellas do not coincide (in this case, the technology of attaching PVC panels to the ceiling or wall may not only be complicated, but also impossible, since the elements will not be tightly fixed).

Characteristics of the average European and Chinese panels (comparison table):

Criterion European lamella Chinese lamella

Number of stiffeners, pcs. 29 20
External characteristics of stiffeners smooth, do not have deformations smooth, there are small deformation changes
Lamella weight, kg / m² 2 1,7
External characteristics of the lamella Smooth coating, stiffening ribs do not protrude Smooth coating, voids between stiffeners are visible, small deformation changes are present
The quality of the raw material base From light pressing, the lamella bends a little and again returns to its original state, the presence of chalk in the composition is minimal From a slight pressure on the surface with a finger, the lamella undergoes deformation changes, which indicates a high content of chalk in the composition

How to fix a PVC panel to the ceiling and wall: preliminary calculations

Before fixing the PVC panel, it is necessary to make preliminary calculations of the material for wall decoration.

Helpful advice! Be sure to calculate the amount of material. This will allow you to avoid overpayments or additional panel purchases if there are not enough of them. By performing preliminary calculations, you save both time and money.

When installing PVC wall panels, the lamellas can be positioned horizontally and vertically. It depends on your desire. The calculation of the material for vertical installation is carried out as follows:

  1. The room is measured (the length of the room around the perimeter).
  2. The width of the window and doorways.
  3. The remainder is divided by the width of one lamella.

As a result, you get the required number of panels for interior decoration. Be sure to add a few more additional slats in case you accidentally damage one of the elements during installation.

For horizontal finishing, a slightly different calculation scheme is used:

  1. The total area of the room is measured.
  2. The area of window and door openings is subtracted.
  3. The resulting value is divided by the area of one lamella.

In this case, at least 10% of the panels in reserve must be added to the received quantity. This moment is due to the fact that when horizontally finishing the ceiling with PVC panels, as well as when working with walls, the master is faced with the need to cut the material. The result is large quantity construction waste.

Calculation of consumables for lathing under PVC panels

If it is planned to install PVC wall panels with your own hands on top of the crate base, additional calculations of the amount of consumables for this structure should be performed. As building material for the lathing, metal profile elements or wood slats can be used.

First you need to measure the height of the walls in the room. Then divide this indicator by the step of placing the battens in the crate. The result of these calculations must be multiplied by the perimeter of the room. You will receive the length of the profiles or strips in linear meters.

Note! As a rule, wooden or metal elements are spaced 50 cm apart.

To calculate, measure the height of the corners in the room and multiply this indicator by their number. As a result, you will get the total footage of corner-type profile elements. To this value is added the perimeter of the door and window openings located indoors.

Using PVC panels: how to fix plastic slats to the bathroom wall

Numerous photos of PVC panels in the bathroom, which can be found while browsing websites and magazines for home renovation, indicate that this type of material is quite popular among consumers.

Decorating a bathroom with PVC panels with your own hands can be done in three different ways:

  • using an adhesive composition;
  • using self-tapping screws;
  • using clamps.

The use of an adhesive will be effective if you have to deal with perfectly flat and smooth surfaces.

Types of adhesive for PVC panels in the bathroom:

  • specialized adhesive for PVC lamellas;
  • universal composition "Moment-montage";
  • liquid Nails.

Installing lamellas with glue greatly simplifies and reduces the cost renovation work in the bathroom, since the need for the construction of a lathing structure is completely eliminated.

The glue method of fixing also has disadvantages. In case of damage to the finish, the damaged lamella cannot be replaced with another one. Moreover, subsequent repairs will be complicated by the procedure for dismantling the old coating, which is difficult to remove from the wall.

Fixing with self-tapping screws is more convenient and reliable. For work, you will definitely need an auxiliary tool in the form of a screwdriver. Otherwise, the repair will be significantly delayed.

Note! Before fixing the PVC panel in the bathroom with self-tapping screws, there is no need to level the surface.

The disadvantages of this method include the need for the construction of a frame base in the form of a crate made of wood. This entails additional time and Money.

Cleamers provide fast and reliable fixing of the lamellas to the wall surface. In this case, the lathing structure must be metal.

Finishing a bathroom with PVC panels: interesting ideas, photos

Plastic finishing opens up wide possibilities in terms of bathroom design - photos of PVC panels in the design of this room look stylish and effective. A variety of colors and external characteristics of the material allows you to equip the room in different styles.

Eco-friendly interiors are very popular today. Of course, plastic does not belong to the category of environmentally friendly and natural materials, but in the photo of the bathroom, PVC panels with a wood texture create an excellent imitation of the ethno style. The installation of pvc panels in the bathroom on the walls is ideally combined with the ceiling finish made with slats.

In the photo of bathrooms, PVC panels imitating a tiled covering look so natural that they are practically indistinguishable from real tiles. In this case, you achieve significant savings in terms of purchasing costs, since plastic lamellas are much cheaper than ceramic tile... When repairing a bathroom with pvc panels for tiles, you have the opportunity to decorate a room in a neoclassical style, adding friezes, columns, curbs to it, or make a classic finish.

Helpful advice! It is not recommended in the design of the bathroom, as well as in the decoration of the toilet, to combine with finishing materials from the expensive segment. The neighborhood of polyvinyl chloride with marble looks not only tasteless, but at the same time the presentability of natural stone is completely lost.

In the photo of finishing toilets with PVC panels, a light color scheme looks very advantageous. Thanks to this, additional volume can be added to a small bathroom. TO modern options the design of bathrooms includes the use of products with photo printing or the installation of mosaics.

For the finishing of bathrooms, it is recommended to use plastic slats with a mild textured surface. The fact is that voluminous textures can be an excellent basis for the formation of mold and fungal spores. If you buy material with large embossed depressions on the surface, it will be difficult to maintain the finish afterwards.

There are also advantages in how PVC panels are attached to the walls in the bathroom:

  • saving money - average prices on a panel with standard dimensional parameters are in the range of 200-300 rubles / piece. The range of the market value of the material covers prices from 100 to 500 rubles / piece. This indicator depends on the quality of products and design;

  • hygiene and safety - the surface of the lamellas does not absorb unpleasant odors, it is easy to clean with a sponge and soap solution;
  • high level of resistance to moisture. For this reason, the material is suitable for rooms with high humidity levels. This property allows you to finish the loggia with PVC panels, as well as the balcony, corridor and even the kitchen;
  • simplicity of the installation system - for this it is enough to have the skills of using a construction stapler and a screwdriver;
  • practicality - communication systems are not visible in the photo of the bathroom decoration with PVC panels. The material is used for lining communication boxes, where all pipes, valves and other elements are placed.

Note! Plastic panels have excellent performance characteristics: low flammability, thermal and sound insulation.

How to glue PVC panels on walls without the use of lathing

Before gluing the decorative PVC panel to the wall surface, it is necessary to prepare the base. This technology requires thorough cleaning of the walls, followed by their leveling. Mistakes in the choice of glue are also unacceptable.

Surface preparation involves:

  • complete removal of the old coating;
  • elimination of cracks;
  • leveling the surface.

The size of the differences is allowed within 5 mm. If the pits and bumps are deeper, the plastic will come off or deform over time. Grease, dust, dirt may be present on the surface of the walls. These particles interfere with the proper adhesion of the adhesive. Therefore, it is advisable to wash off the whitewash from the surface of the walls, cleanse the fat with an effective detergent and apply a primer.

List of universal adhesives:

  • Emficol 34012A;
  • Clayberite 636;
  • Moment Crystal.

When installing PVC panels, non-expanding polyurethane foam based or liquid nails can be used.

These compounds can be used for DIY installation of PVC panels, but experts recommend using specialized glue for plastic.

Signs of a high-quality composition:

  • transparency after drying and the formation of a film layer;
  • resistance to sharp temperature changes, moisture and frost (for this reason, photos of balconies with PVC panels are so often found on the Internet);
  • fast setting;
  • reliable and long-lasting fixation.

Note! It is strictly forbidden to use hot melt glue to fix the plastic.

A non-expanding polyurethane foam sealant or liquid nails can be used. These materials are flexible and firmly fix the panels to the wall.

Decorative PVC mosaic panels: how to glue, video instruction

To learn how to glue PVC mosaic sheet panel, use step by step instructions which is also applicable for conventional lamellas.

Step-by-step implementation of the procedure:

  1. Cleaning the back of the panel with a damp cloth.
  2. Drying of the panel (before gluing the PVC mosaic panels, the surface of the material must be completely dry - only then can the glue be applied).
  3. Application of the adhesive composition to the back side using the dotted method in increments of 25-35 cm.
  4. Installing the panel to the wall.

If you use liquid nails in your work, the panel will need to be tapped lightly after that and again be torn off the surface. For better adhesion, the glue requires 5-7 minutes of airing. Then you need to re-fix the lamella in place.

The frameless method does not require the formation of external and internal corners for PVC panels. Such a procedure in this case would be inappropriate. The usual cladding with the help of plastic corners that do not have grooves for mounting lamellas is enough. Transparent silicone can be used to secure the corners. The size of such elements varies from 2 cm to 5 cm.

Helpful advice! To carry out the installation of trim around the sockets, you must first cut the holes for them in the appropriate place on the panel. Be sure to turn off the electricity during the work.

Use the video material below for a more detailed study of the procedure for installing PVC wall panels with your own hands.

Last but not least, the floor and ceiling skirting boards for PVC panels. Use self-tapping screws for this. The joint areas between the lamellas must be filled with silicone or.

Photo of kitchen aprons made of PVC panels and installation technology in the spacer

Most often, expanded clay or tile... However, the installation of these materials requires special knowledge and skills, so more and more often you can find in the photo finishing the kitchen with PVC panels. Due to the special design of the lamellas, the wall assembly in the apron area is carried out with minimal gaps.

The technology of fastening the lamellas to the spacer does not imply the use of fasteners, adhesives or lathing structures. This method is used exclusively in small kitchens where the work area can be covered with a single sheet panel.

  1. Place the panel with its lower edge on the worktop and cut the material taking into account the dimensions of the apron.
  2. Install the lamella in the apron area in such a way that the upper edge of the material goes under the wall cabinet and is firmly pressed against it. To improve retention, you can use hidden brackets.
  3. The lower end is secured with a plinth. This part is fixed to the table top and it is better if it is massive and durable.

Note! The advantage of this technology is that the lamella can be easily removed if necessary to repair the premises. The material is not damaged and can be reused.

Instructions for the installation of PVC panels on the walls over the lathing frame

Before sheathing the wall with PVC panels, the surface should be cleaned. There is no need for serious leveling, but if it is planned to finish a bathroom, kitchen or other wet room, it is recommended to waterproof and cover the walls with an antiseptic.

To form the lathing structure, 2x2 cm blocks of wood can be used.They are much cheaper than metal elements. However, it is not recommended to use wooden lathing for rooms with high levels of humidity. Before using wood, it must be thoroughly dried so that the moisture content of the material reaches the permissible norm - 12-15%. Don't forget to complete preprocessing antiseptic bars.

To equip a metal frame, you will need a UD profile element (contour part) and CD (guides).

Regardless of whether you make ceilings from PVC panels with your own hands or sheathe walls, the construction of a lathing structure should start with marking. If you are working with walls, you first need to determine the lower level, taking into account the further installation of the skirting board. As a guide, you need to take the most protruding point of the wall. It is she who will determine the indent of the crate.

Helpful advice! For wooden lathing, another 2-3 mm should be added to the resulting indentation, since the wood is subject to deformation changes under the influence of temperature and moisture.

After that, the line of the top level (with a reference to the ceiling) and side levels is determined. To control the upper and lower zones, it is recommended to use a building level, for side elements - a plumb line.

How to fix a PVC wall panel: working with the frame and cladding

The fixing of the lathing elements is carried out using straight hangers. The screws are positioned in increments of 20-25 cm (wooden frame) or 15-25 cm ( metal carcass). Installation of bars or metal profiles carried out first along the edge, then inside the structure. This will ensure a secure hold of the trim around the edges.

When installing internal profiles, it is worth considering the type of panel mounting you have chosen - horizontal or vertical. The lamellas will subsequently have to be fastened perpendicular to the guides, fixed with screws.

Panel mounting scheme on crate:

  1. Installation of external and internal moldings.
  2. Installation of the first panel and fixation with a cleamer (the spike of the lamella must enter the profile).
  3. Mounting the second panel into the groove of the previously installed lamella and fixing in the same way.
  4. Installation of material to the end of the wall.
  5. Cut the last panel, taking into account that the finishing material should be installed all the way to the corner area. In this case, a gap of 2-3 mm should form between the spike of the last element and the groove of the previous lamella. The cut side should be placed in the profile and the finishing piece inserted into place.

Use a video review of this procedure for a more detailed consideration of the installation of PVC wall panels with your own hands.

Note! If you want to hide, the fixation of the first panel must be performed strictly in the corner zone, and the installation of all subsequent elements must be carried out back to back. On one of the corner elements, you need to remove the spike so that a groove appears at the end. Hook brackets will be pushed here, which are installed on the second profile element. The next lamella in the corner area will fit into the starting profile.

Formation of suspended ceilings from PVC panels: photos of structures and technology

The moisture-resistant properties of PVC panels are also useful for arranging suspended ceilings.

This material is used for arranging the ceiling in various rooms:

  • kitchen;
  • toilet;
  • shower, sauna or bath;

  • hallway;
  • balcony or loggia.

In most cases, in the photo of ceilings made of PVC panels in the kitchen, you can see a material that imitates a lining 10 cm wide.This finish without any problems allows you to install spot-type lamps in the structure of a suspended ceiling.

Other design options for lamellas can be used for decoration:

  • imitating wood or natural marble stone;
  • matte or glossy;
  • plain or covered with ornaments;
  • decorated with a seal or thermal film.

Before making suspended ceilings from PVC panels, the calculation of materials must be carried out. The calculation scheme in this case is very simple, since there are no window and door openings on the ceilings. Material stock - 15% of the required amount.

Making a ceiling from PVC panels with your own hands: videos and recommendations

Creation false ceilings carried out in stages. First, you need to calculate the parameters of the crate, take into account the features of the lighting system, since the recessed spot-type luminaires need accurate calculations and have a special installation system.

Note! For work, you will definitely need the help of one more person.

Construction of a batten structure:

  1. Using the building level, mark the points along the perimeter of the room along which the installation of the profile elements of the frame base will be carried out. The profiles must be fixed strictly horizontally. It is necessary to achieve the most dense placement against the wall.
  2. Using self-tapping screws, you need to fix the profile elements with transverse placement. They will hold the entire structure.
  3. A profile that forms the letter L should be located along the perimeter. Next, all work is carried out to install and mask the lighting system.

Use a video review for installing PVC panels with your own hands, reflecting all the features of the technology for creating suspended ceiling structures.

It should be remembered that the video of installing PVC panels with your own hands in combination with a lighting system does not always reflect all the nuances of this technology. It is recommended to read additional materials on this topic, since working with electricity requires serious knowledge and can be unsafe. If you do not have the required amount of knowledge and experience, entrust the installation to professionals in order to avoid accidents, calculation errors and unnecessary costs.

PVC panels are a cheap material commonly used for the decoration of living quarters and utility blocks. At a relatively low cost of such cladding, the decorative qualities of the coating are quite high. These are practical and durable materials, which are also easy to install - even a novice finisher can install the panels with their own hands.

Advantages and disadvantages

Let's dwell on the advantages of plastic panels:

  • Hygroscopicity. Plastic does not absorb moisture, it is not subject to decay, mold does not appear in it and fungi do not multiply, which is why the panels are mainly used in rooms with high humidity (in the kitchen / in the shower room and bathroom).
  • Material has a long service life, it is wear-resistant and resistant to small impacts. Of course, if damage is done with a hammer or an ax, the panels will crack, but small mechanical impacts will not leave any marks on the surface.

  • PVC panels retain their aesthetic appearance for many years - they do not turn yellow over time and do not fade under the influence of direct sunlight.
  • Ease of operation is also a significant advantage - the panels are unpretentious in maintenance, for their high-quality cleaning, you can use the simplest detergents, but still it is not worth using abrasives and strong acid-base compositions.
  • Laying the panels does not take much time and does not require special skills and efforts, even a non-professional will cope with the work.
  • Low price. Moreover, this is the case when a decrease in cost does not entail a deterioration in quality.

  • Security. In the production of panels, the most advanced technologies for processing raw materials are used, due to which the product does not emit harmful and toxic substances. Hazardous materials are difficult to find even among counterfeits.
  • The coating is easy to repair- to do this, it is enough to replace one broken panel, and not to remove the entire cover.
  • The panels are very aesthetic- manufacturers put on the market products in the widest range, an abundance of colors and textures. Consumers can choose slabs that imitate the texture of wood and stone. Many firms apply photo printing to panels, and some manufacturers produce non-standard products that differ significantly in their appearance from the usual "official" options.

  • Possibility of installation in small spaces- wall panels are great for creating niches in such corners of apartments where working with other materials is difficult.
  • PVC boards are installed together with ventilation grilles and sockets, they are unobtrusive and look harmonious in the overall interior concept.
  • Many advantages of PVC panel cladding are associated with the installation of the frame. Due to the formation of an air cushion between the wall and the panels, additional sound insulation is provided, and the space itself can be successfully used for carrying out communications or insulating a dwelling.

There are also disadvantages associated with the use of PVC panels:

  • When exposed to fire, the material supports combustion and at the same time releases substances hazardous to human health.
  • The panels do not allow air to pass through, completely blocking its circulation and necessary ventilation... That is why the scope of application of the panels is limited - they are not recommended to be installed in bedrooms and children's rooms.
  • In the southern regions, insects settle in the voids between the panels and the wall, which are rather difficult to remove.
  • When installing the panels, the use of a special tool is required and this is also considered a disadvantage. However, all the necessary equipment can be purchased at any hardware store.

Criterias of choice

The choice of plastic panels is great, in any construction supermarket you can find a wide range of models of any color and texture. Thanks to modern technologies such products are created that can add gloss and emphasize the conceptuality of any room.

What you should pay special attention to when choosing panels:

  • PVC products are lightweight, but if the purchased panels are too light, this may mean that you have a low-quality fake;
  • there should be no coating defects on either side: chips, cracks and scratches indicate the inadequate quality of the product;
  • when purchasing panels, you should clarify the release date and marking - it is optimal to purchase those where these values are approximately the same - even within the same model, there may be a significant difference.

PVC panels are produced in the overwhelming majority of cases in Europe and China. Depending on the manufacturer, the technical parameters of the product may vary, however The following are considered optimal characteristics:

  • front panel thickness - in the range from 1.5 to 2 mm;
  • the number of stiffeners - from 20 to 29;
  • lamella weight - from 1.7 to 2 kg per sq. m.
  • stiffeners are damaged and bent;
  • the line of the drawing is not clearly expressed;
  • the color of the panels within one stack differs;
  • the surface has cracks and scratches;
  • the segments are of different sizes.

It is quite easy to check how strong the material is - just press a little on it: normally, the front side bends, and then returns to its previous position. If this does not happen, then the panel is deformed, there is a large amount of chalk in its composition and the service life of such a product will be short.

  • the thickness of the plastic should be the same everywhere, any thickening and, conversely, thinner places indicate low quality;
  • the thicker the jumper at the cut, the stronger and more durable the structure will be;
  • the cells must be perfectly flat, without lumps or dents, therefore all panels should be inspected even if packed.

And of course, you need to choose the right texture and color. Patterned options are very attractive. In most cases, a pattern is applied to PVC sheet panels. Typically, it is printed on film and then glued to a panel and laminated. Such panels can have smooth surface or textured, they are very durable, and the price for them significantly exceeds their counterparts without a pattern.

The most common panel options are wall and ceiling. These modifications are not interchangeable, the sheet of wall panels is not universal, it is not recommended to use it for lining the ceiling, and vice versa, ceiling tiles not suitable for wall mounting.

There are no strict stiffness requirements for panels for finishing ceilings - they are practically not subjected to physical stress. Their standard sizes are considered:

  • thickness - from 3 to 5 mm;
  • width - from 125 to 380 mm;
  • length - up to 10 m.

The parameters of the wall plates are different:

  • thickness - in the range of 6-10 mm;
  • width - from 250 to 300 mm;
  • length - less than 6 meters.

Wall panels more often have a greater thickness, since when sheathing with wide slabs, the coating visually seems smoother and more intact (since the number of joints is less). At the same time, many finishers prefer a narrow sheet, since it is easier and faster to work with it.

There is a noticeable variation in prices for PVC panels - the cost of the product is influenced by the thickness of the walls, as well as the type of printing and brand.

Preparation and calculation

At the stage of preparing the finishing work, it is very important to correctly measure and make an accurate calculation of the required number of panels and related materials. This is necessary in order to avoid unnecessary costs for the purchase of unnecessary products.

Installation of PVC panels provides for their location vertically and horizontally - it completely depends on individual taste preferences.

If you decide to stay on the vertical arrangement of the plates, then the calculation is carried out as follows: the perimeter of the room is measured, the width of the door and window openings is subtracted from the obtained value, and the difference is divided by the width of the panel. As a result of such calculations, the number of panels required for finishing is obtained. However, you need to add about 10% for the space above and below the openings.

For a horizontal arrangement, the area of the room is calculated, from which the area of the openings is subtracted, and the resulting value is divided by the area of the panel.

Again, 10-15% is added to the received private in case of damage to the coating, that is, in reserve. Keep in mind that when mounting horizontally, you will have to cut the panels, so the output can be a lot of cuttings.

Let's consider an example of horizontal arrangement of panels. Suppose we need to wall the walls in a 6x8 meter room with a ceiling height of 2.5 m. The room has 4 windows with a size of 1.2x1.8 m and one arch with parameters 2.2x0.9.

For finishing, panels of 250x30 cm were purchased.

The total S of the walls will be:

(6 + 6 + 8 + 8) x2.5 = 70 sq. m.

S window and door openings:

1.8x1.2x4 + 2.2x0.9 = 8.64 + 1.98 = 10.62 sq. m.

S to finish will be equal to:

70 sq. m. -10.62 sq. m. = 59.38 sq. m.

2.5x0.3 = 0.75 sq. m.

Accordingly, for work you need to buy:

59.38 / 0.75 = 79.17 panels.

Having rounded the resulting value upwards, we have 80 pieces, 10-15% should be added here and we get about 100 panels.

Tools and accessories

It is necessary to prepare for working with PVC panels. As already mentioned, the use of this finishing material involves the use of professional tools, namely:

  • perforator- will be needed when forming the frame;
  • screwdriver- it is used when fixing panels to bars or metal profiles (a perforator can also cope with this task, but it is quite heavy, so it will not be easy for a finisher with little work experience to cope with it);
  • jigsaw with small teeth or a circular saw;

  • scruff with an angle of 90 and 45 g;
  • stapler- used for the installation of timber battens;
  • rubber mallet- required to remove jammed plates; if such a procedure is carried out manually, then there is a high probability of breakage of the crate and the panel itself;
  • putty knife- it is used to bend the profile when the very last panel needs to be inserted. It is optimal to use a tool with a length of 80 to 120 cm.

Auxiliary tool:

  • tape measure for taking measurements;
  • pencil or marker - for making notes on the panels;
  • level - to measure deviations from the ideal geometry of the coating;
  • square, moldings, clips, edging;
  • elements for fasteners (dowels, screws and cleats).

To grout the joints between the panels, use a sealant and a tool for applying it. Many experts recommend adding an antiseptic to prevent possible growth of mold and other pathogens.

Installation methods

Work with plastic panels begins with surface preparation. To do this, by all means remove the old coating, close up all existing cracks, chips and cracks - only then the finish coating will have a perfectly even and smooth appearance, and most importantly, it will become durable. To prevent the appearance of mold and moss, the base base is recommended to be coated with solutions with fungicides Is a strong antiseptic that will protect the house from the appearance of "uninvited guests" for many years.

At this, the preliminary stage of work ends, then the frame is mounted and the panels are directly laid, and for this, the location of the frame racks should be determined.

For ceilings and walls, the markings are carried out in this order:

  1. First, a point is fixed at a distance of 2 cm from the floor or wall, and already through it a straight line is drawn along the entire perimeter. It is at this stage that you will need a building level and a paint thread.
  2. When marking walls, exactly the same line is drawn under the ceiling.
  3. Further, with a step of 30-40 cm, they draw transverse lines - they will become "beacons" for the construction of the frame.

Walls

When decorating walls with PVC panels, first of all, a crate is installed. Most often, wooden slats are used for it, less often - a metal profile (the second can be bent, the first cannot).

Exactly according to the marking, using a perforator, holes are made for fasteners with a step of about 40-50 cm, after which the frame element is mounted to the wall. At this stage, it is necessary to provide for the places of fixing the wires and make sure that they will not protrude beyond the crate.

In order to create an additional layer of sound and heat insulation between the slats, special materials should be laid. They can have a different structure and, accordingly, are also attached in different ways (with dowels or glue). After that, the panels are placed directly on the box.

If desired, you can use the frameless method and glue the slabs directly to the walls - directly to the concrete It is quick and convenient. However, it should be borne in mind that the surface to be treated must have an ideal geometry - any irregularities impair the quality of adhesion and ultimately reduce the service life of the finish.

In the frameless method, liquid nails or special glue for PVC are used. It is very important to use formulations that do not contain solvents. Otherwise, the plastic will gradually deteriorate.

Work with this type of installation is carried out in the following sequence:

  • cleaning the old coating, priming and drying;
  • preparation of an adhesive solution with the obligatory observance of the instructions and the indicated proportions of the substance;
  • depending on the consistency of the solution, a tool for application is selected - it can be a brush or paint roller either a spatula;

  • with the help of glue, the corner piece is fixed to the concrete wall, to which the ordinary element is subsequently attached using the built-in grooves;
  • the panels are pressed with effort for 10-15 seconds and allowed to grab;
  • by analogy, all the remaining tiles are mounted;
  • attach a decorative element;
  • seams are treated with grout or sealant, which act as a decorative connector.

Ceiling

It is possible to sheathe the ceiling with plastic panels in the same way as in the case of walls - with and without a frame.

It is required to assemble the frame in rooms with a high level of humidity and in low-heated spaces. Plates are fixed with fasteners and a profile, so the place of fixation is not weakened under the influence of external unfavorable influences.

The frame is nothing more than a crate with a step of 40-60 cm. As a rule, its assembly is carried out from wooden slats, metal profiles or plastic. Panels are screwed to the crate. This repair is time consuming, but it can be done by a home craftsman, even with little experience.

Frameless fixation is an easier way, it involves preliminary cleaning of the base and further fixing of the plates to a special composition, that is, the plates can be simply glued.

It's pretty simple and quick way sheathe the surface, however, it significantly limits design solutions interior in terms of lighting, since it does not allow mounting Spotlights and LED strips, as well as carry out work on drywall to build multi-level structures.

Window

PVC panels are widely used when installing slopes on windows. This is indeed an excellent solution that allows you to quickly, easily and cheaply make an aesthetic decorative coating. Thanks to a large selection of panels, everyone will be able to choose exactly the modification that can truly transform their windows.

There are several ways to trim slopes.

With the help of a metal profile

With this method, profiles are installed, which become a frame for mounting panels.

The order of work with this method is as follows:

  • along the edge of the window frame, a starting bar is installed using self-tapping screws;
  • slats are mounted on the opposite edge of the window, it creates the completeness of the contour.

The prepared panel is cut into the desired size, then inserted into the profile, and attached to the rail from the other edge. The panels must be docked with each other. An F-profile is used as a casing. The advantage of this method is its high speed and ease of installation. However, this technology requires additional laying of voids that may form during the work.

Fixing with glue

Everything is simple here - the panels need to be glued to the slopes, using polyurethane foam or glue.

The procedure is as follows:
